Indigenous planning: process and development of a community housing plan for Swan Lake First Nation

Mbadugha, Marie Cecile Esclanda 28 January 2013 (has links)
This practicum examined Indigenous planning as the theoretical framework and foundation of this project. Literature reviews on First Nations on-reserve housing conditions were examined to understand the struggles Indigenous communities face when it comes to housing. Based on the literature reviews, it was determined that housing has been an issue in many First Nation communities, perpetuating a demand for planning to explore remedies to minimize or eradicate this social concern. From understanding Indigenous planning practices, the practicum explored the Indigenous community of Swan Lake First Nation (SLFN) and the housing challenges they experience. Through planning with SLFN community members to determine methods that would address the housing challenges, the development of a community housing plan was suggested. The process and development of SLFN community housing plan was documented in this practicum.

Komunitní péče v psychiatrii / Community care in psychiatry

BÍNOVÁ, Romana January 2010 (has links)
Abstract Diploma thesis deals with the issue of community care in psychiatry and its objective is to describe the importance of a nurse in providing this care. Community psychiatric care is a very wide area of an intermediary patient assistance designed to help the patients in any areas of their lives. Although in the Czech Republic community care has not achieved the appropriate development yet, its benefits for patients are important now and its importance has been growing. In the theoretical part, after a brief introduction to community care issues, history, principles, but also community care connection with nursing care, are mentioned. Subsequently, attention is paid to particular areas of community care that are important for the mentally ill and the role of a nurse in these areas is described. The approach to the mentally ill, the issue of stigmatization and psychiatric care organizations are mentioned. In the theoretical are part, psychiatric illnesses that may occur in community care are also analyzed and it is explained how community care may be beneficial for psychiatric patients. In the practical part, the objective was to find out the level of psychiatric nurses´ awareness of community care and to determine if they see the sense of community care in psychiatry. Making a survey of community care in which nurses can be involved was another objective of the work. The nurses´ responses to the stated hypotheses were statistically analyzed within quantitative research. The purpose of hypotheses stated was to determine whether nurses with the work experience longer than ten years are more likely to believe that psychiatric care is more beneficial for patients than hospitalization., And also, if nurses with an education higher than secondary have better awareness of community services provision. Other hypotheses were focused on finding out whether nurses consider the most common community care services issue in the Czech Republic to be housing promotion and if nurses aged over thirty years are more aware of the nurses´ role importance in community care. None of those hypotheses were confirmed. The hypothesis assuming that nurses obtain more information on community care from the Internet and literature than at workshops was confirmed. Psychiatric nurses working in mental homes in the South Moravian region and the Vysočina region took part in this research. A component of the practical part is also an analysis of community services in these regions. In both the regions 13 civic associations and community centers were mapped.

ANÁLISE MECÂNICA E QUÍMICA DE PLACAS PRÉ-MOLDADAS DE CONCRETO COM ADIÇÃO DE RESÍDUOS DE BORRACHA DE PNEUS / MECHANICAL ANALYSIS IS CHEMICAL OF PLATES PREMOLDED OF CONCRETE WITH ADDITION OF RESIDUES OF TIRES

Kroth, Leandro Agostinho 28 September 2012 (has links)
This work aims to analyze a building system that utilizes alternative material and residues of tire rubber in community housing. Primarily, this work shows a review of literature concerning housing, debit, environment, habitation projects in Brazil and recycling of used tires. Definitions, classification, types, models of technology and factors involving pré-fabricated comunits houses are also presented. In addition, characteristics of the Sistema Construtivo Bom-Plac are shown with detailed information of materials employed. Subsequently, measurements, probes and tests using concrete pre-cast slabs which with tire rubber are analyzed concerning moisture content, density, compressive strength and chemical analysis of the tire rubber. A better compressive strength reaching 14,38 MPa level was observed for mixture composition 1:2:0.5:2 (cement CP-V, sand, rubber and gravel number 1). To make sure that no heavy metals are released in the environment according to NBR 10006 of ABNT technical regulations chemical analysis were performed. Chemical analyses included tests evaluating water effect, solvability, pH, scanning electron microscopy, microbiology and water uses with and without sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH). A brief report with experiences by the author are presented including the pré-fabricated type, habitation type, multi-functional septic tank and drainage are included in this thesis.

Viviendas comunitarias vinculadas al patrimonio del valle Chillón / Community housing vinculated to the heritage of the Chillón valley

Astete Hernandez, Daniel Andres 03 April 2021 (has links)
One of the biggest challenges that the city of Lima has is facing the urban informal expansion. This has led to different consequences, such us the desertification of the Lima valleys, urban inconsistencies, and above all, a huge damage on the archeological monuments that conform the urban pattern of the city. From this perspective, the community housing project takes place as a unifying item that proposes a typology. This typology is able to equally integrate the housing with the archeological heritage of the city through the creation of community spaces (gardens, orchards and common areas). These exclusively housing-related areas result in the development of a master plan that consolidates the environment as a sustainable community and cultural ecosystem. Besides, the project is linked to biomimetic criteria, reinterpreting the shape, functionality, speciality, atmosphere and thinking of an element tested by the nature, like the Huacas. In this way, the housing is developed based on a two-modules base, which result from a decoding of a natural element. Finally, the development of the common areas (urban equipment, gardens, orchards, and recreational common areas) have been intended to strengthen the community bonds of the project’s users with the cultural atmosphere of the environment. This can be achieved through a central axis of coexistence, which ends with the Site Museum suggested in the Master Plan, that generates the necessary interaction to stimulate the development of the community life. / Tesis

Obytný soubor, Líšeň / Housing neighbourhood at Brno-Líšeň

Uřídilová, Valentýna January 2019 (has links)
The solved area with an area of approximately 4.2 hectares is the eastern part of the statutory city of Brno. It is located in the city of Brno Líšeň on the border of a row of village character with a small scale (old Líšeň) and loose construction of point, board and typified high-rise houses from the 20th century (new Líšeň). The aim of the project is to find a dialogue between the loose structure of the new Líšeň and the town-building structure of the old one. With its masses it creates clearly defined streets and spaces. At the same time, there is an effort to loosen the mass and to integrate it into the near nature with its form. The idea design is based on the principle of cohousing (community housing), which is designed for living in family houses and apartment buildings. The main idea of the project is to respond to today's individualized and automated time, when construction has ceased to focus on the formation of shared spaces = interpersonal relationships, it increasing anonymity and isolation. Basic social interactions, mutually beneficial relations between neighbors are disappearing. It is also a response to the disintegration of the traditional family and can replace family background. In the architectural form it also solves the issue of uniformity, the loss of human scale in modern construction. The emphasis in the project is on the diversity of types of apartments and on a diverse range of public, semi-public, semi-private and private spaces.

Kompaktní formy bydlení / Compact Forms of Housing

Májek, Jan Unknown Date (has links)
"The compact forms of housing" is a term with which the Czech interior design yet do not often occur. This concept densely built low-rise residential files yet carries a strong potential not only in matters of mere living, but also offers one of the progressive alternative ways of living environment in general. Examined form of residential buildings is becoming increasingly important especially in specific situations where conventional housing is failing and instead generates other social problems. This thesis is primarily seeking the maximum extent available to document the issue of a compact housing, describe its basic form and point out the historical roots of this typology. The acquired knowledge was then subjected to an in-depth analysis, the output of which is to be the most comprehensive characterization researched the topic and its inclusion in the context of the standard forms of housing. The result is a set of research information, assumptions and typological bases that determine the primary urban, architectural, or social limits of the residential category. This work attempts to take into account the specified topic in the broader context of housing as a basic human need. As a result of findings would be its contribution to the culture scene in our home and create a theoretical material that would become an essential information base for creating compact residential files. The conclusions of this research can be further developed, tested and refined in the educational process at the faculties of architecture or in the practice. The results of research could stimulate interest in this type of housing and contribute to the enrichment of Czech housing scene of a synthetic form, which will form the connecting link between the typological family house and an apartment building. Low-rise housing complexes with a high population density can also create an effective counterbalance to the typical suburban development of part-time family home and offer method, respectively one of the alternative ways to be with this dilapidated urban housing estate deal.

Kopřivnice - bydlení u Kopřivničky / Kopřivnice – Housing along Kopřivnička

Kóňová, Patrícia Unknown Date (has links)
The prefabricated apartment buildings are on the west bank of the river and family houses on the east bank of the river. On the east side there are private areas of family houses and on the west side there are prefabricated buildings with poor quality public spaces. There is only the anonymity of the city, isolation and a lack of human dimension. My concept solves the problem of combining two opposing approaches. It emphasizes neighborly relations in the form of community and the development of community thinking. What should urbanism that unites people look like?
