Desta forma, o movimento de entendimento público da ciência surgiu da necessidade dos pesquisadores em ampliar o acesso e a compreensão aos resultados de suas pesquisas junto à população leiga. O mote destacado nesta pesquisa filosofa em favor da aproximação entre ciência e sociedade. A ideia é que, possuindo maior compreensão sobre a natureza e/ou resultados da pesquisa científica, a população poderá tomar decisões melhor orientadas sobre hábitos e atitudes que poderão afetar diretamente sua qualidade de vida. Neste sentido, destaca-se aqui o conceito de competência informacional em saúde, que abarca um conjunto de habilidades cognitivas e sociais que determinam a motivação e a capacidade dos indivíduos de ter acesso, compreender e utilizar informação de forma a promover e manter a saúde. Nesta perspectiva, o presente trabalho investiga o potencial da abordagem lúdica do palhaço como estratégia para a promoção da aproximação entre ciência e sociedade, com relação a problemas de saúde da terceira idade / We are living in a age of uncertainty, where the social classes in a lot of cases don’t determinate the health risks that people are exposed to and science is seen in an ambiguous way, both as the savior and as the guilty by the major current problems of humanity. Thus, the movement of public understanding of science emerged from the need of the researchers of broadening the access and understanding of the results of their research by the lay people. The main question of this research philosophizes in favor of the approach between science and society. The idea is that if people obtain comprehension of the nature and/or results of scientific research, they can make better oriented decisions about habits and attitudes that will directly affect their life quality. Thereby, it is highlighted the concept of health literacy, which cover a set of cognitive and social habilities which determinates the motivation and capacity of the person to get access, understand and utilize information in way to promote and maintain health. In this perspective, this paper investigates the potential of the ludic approach of the clown as a strategy to promote the approximation between science and society, in relation to health problems of the seniors
