Introducción: Existe una muy amplia literatura científica que señala que las relaciones dentro de la familia (la composición familiar, el estilo, el clima, etc.) configuran un escenario que condiciona el repertorio deconductas adolescentes y sus mayores o menores posibilidades de que éstas sean de tipo problemático. Más aun, las relaciones en el contexto familia pueden condicionar la base de seguridad y confianza con la que los chicos y chicas gestionarán los riesgos y crisis que tendrán que vivir. Nuestro interés se centra en conocer por qué o cómo la familia influye en las conductas de los hijos/as adolescentes. Es decir, consideramos que pueden existir ciertas variables relacionadas con esa base de seguridad y confianza que actúen como mediadoras en la relación entre familia y conducta de los adolescentes, y que expliquen por tanto dicha relación. Consideramos dos variables que pueden desempeñar dicha función mediadora o de "traducción" de la influencia de la familia en los problemas de desajuste del adolescente: su autoestima y el apoyo social percibido de sus relaciones interpersonales significativas. objetivo: El objetivo general de esta investigación es analizar la relación entre el funcionamiento, la satisfacción y la comunicación familiar y tres indicadores de desajuste psicosocial (conducta delictiva, consumo de sustancias y ánimo depresivo), considerando los recursos psicosociales de autoestima y apoyo social percibido del adolescente desde una perspectiva multidimensional y como variables mediadoras en dicha relación. / Introduction: There is a wide scientific literature indicating that family relationships (family style, family climate, etc.) constitute a specific context that determines adolescent behaviors, as well as the likelihood that these behavior are o not problematic. Moreover, the quality of the relationships in the family context can determine the safety and confidence perceptions with which boys and girls will manage the risks and crises in life. Our interest is to know why and how the family influences adolescent behaviors. That is to say, we think that there are certain variables related to this safety and confidence base that work as mediating factors in the relation between family and adolescent behaviors problems; and that this mediating factors contribute to the explanation of the above mentioned relation. We have considered two variables that can play this mediating role: adolescent self-esteem and perceived social support from significant relationships. Aims: The general aim of this research is to analyze the relationships between family functioning, family satisfaction and family communication and three indicators of psychosocial maladjustment (delinquent behaviour, substance use and depressive mood), considering adolescent self-esteem and perceived social support from a multidimensional perspective as mediating variables.
