Lauko reklamos poveikis vartotojų poreikių suvokimui / The impact of outdoor advertising for consumers needs perception

Žak, Inga 26 June 2014 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / SUMMARY Although outdoor advertisement is considered to be as one of the oldest ways of advertising, however, in Lithuania its rapid development can only be observed only in the last decade. Only separate private entities (mostly illegal) were working in this business untill 1994, when the first outdoor advertisement companies were established. It was only the last decade when the society and public institutions paid more attention to this business. Thus, considering the importance and benefits of this this rather new field of business, the impact of outdoor advertisement on the perception of consumer needs has been selected as the object of analysis. The concept of perception is very subjective. The perception of the same object of majority of people may differ due to the reason that people themselves are different. Every consumer has his/her own interpretation of a message and the perception is based on individual characteristics, internal and external factors. Research Object– outdoor advertisement and consumer needs. Research Goal – theoretical basis and empirical verification of outdoor advertisement impact on the perception of consumer neeeds. Research Tasks: 1. Analysis of the perception of consumer needs in their behaviour; 2. Analysis and summary of the perception of consumer needs at theoretical level; 3. Reasoning of advertisement impact on consumers; 4. Analysis and summary of the conceptual essence of outdoor advertisement; 5. Preparation of research methodology... [to full text]

Supporting Backpackers Needs and Travel Experiences : Design implications for communication technology

Helenius, Jessica January 2012 (has links)
Our society is becoming more restless and mobile, a symbol for this mobility are the backpackers. Backpackers are found everywhere in the world and represent a form of low-cost independent travellers. To experience as much as possible, seems to be a very important issue for backpackers and they have that as a motivation during their travels. Backpackers have been described as ”experiences hungry”. The term experiences, is today being used a lot in the tourism industry. To be able to predict what an experience is, can be hard and the term is hard to define. Mobile technologies are also becoming a permanent part of the our society. Communication technology are something that backpackers use more and more during their travels. This thesis identifies knowledge and design implications for a mobile application to support backpacker´s need when travelling and how backpackers define the notion of travel experiences. The result of the thesis have calumniated in a mobile application prototype that coul contribute in letting backpackers get more out of there journey. This in an interactive and social way, by giving backpackers the opportunity to be social towards each-other share information through a social medium. As the thesis have shown that backpackers wants to meet others on there journey and experience the world.

Is the medium the message? : The impact of digital media on the newspaper concept

Leckner, Sara January 2007 (has links)
The impact of digital (new) media has caused both challenges and threats to newspapers’ continuing existence as a profitable and influential mass medium. While this is not the first time in history that new media appear to be challenging the future of the newspaper medium, from one perspective digital media offer not only direct competition, or alternative ways to produce and deliver news, but also possibilities for convergence, for making new media part of the traditional newspaper, inducing whole new possibilities for publishing. From another perspective, the newspaper medium is an old concept; a powerful mass medium with very profound consumption patterns, strongly associated with its traditional output medium: ink-on-paper. The purpose of the present work has been to examine the impacts digital media have on the old, well-established newspaper medium, and what consequences these impacts have for the future of newspaper as a mass medium, that is, is the medium the message? In order to achieve this aim, the present work has been carried out from three different angles: digital media, publishing and reading behaviour and presentation factors. The areas have been examined using several methods: instrumental experiment, eye-tracking experiment, secondary analysis, and case study design. Newspapers’ ’to be or not to be’ depends, in a theoretical sense, on what media constitute. The medium is the message in the sense that, in the definition of a mass medium, the strength of the newspaper message is that it is recognized as the newspaper concept. It is not, in that the message per se is dependent on the medium it is reproduced on, as a newspaper can be considered a newspaper even if presented on a digital medium, yet the specific way the content is presented will always depend on the technology and characteristics of the chosen output medium. Thus, while defusing the output medium’s significance for the concept, the strength of the newspaper, and its industry, lies in what hitherto constitutes the message: accurate, credible, serendipitous, and diverse content, but which is continuously adapted to the technology of the output medium, thus benefiting from it and further strengthening the developed, digitalized newspaper concept, or what will become of it. The newspaper industry has great potential to differentiate itself in a world where news is becoming increasingly commoditized, though it must further emphasize its power, which lies in the long-defined ‘old’ newspaper concept. Moreover, the industry must be aware of the fact that this refashioning and adaptation is a slow process. / QC 20100804
