This thesis deals with Czechoslovak penal system between the years 1948 - 1989 from the view of religion. It investigates the developement of spiritual service in prison, follows its decline after February 1948 and describes in which way the prisoners tried to find a solution to the prohibiton to practice religion in prisons. Further it focuses on religious persecution in communist Czechoslovakia, presents reasons for imprisonment of the members of individual confessions and shows how their faith reflected in everyday life in prison. The author makes a reference to the concentration of priests in closed departements, explains its reason and tries to depict everyday life of these separated communities. He describes in details how the convicted practiced the acts of their religion and he deals with the differences of individual confessions. The work speculates over the sense of imprisonment of hundreds of priests, friars and laymen from some of the Churches in communist Czechoslovakia. It thinks about the power of faith and conviction exposed to cruel physical treatment and mental violence. It also deals with the question of colaboration, relations between members of different confession and between the convicted and warders. Between 1980-2006, thousands of South African pension funds converted members from defined benefit to defined contribution structures. This research set out to answer the questions of why this phenomenon occurred and whether peculiar environmental circumstances influenced the outcome. The research framework identified various stakeholders in the retirement fund industry - government; regulator; pension fund adjudicator; ombudsman for long term insurance; trade unions; members; trustees; business; employers and service providers - and isolated the elements to be considered in the research. Industry experts were interviewed to obtain a macro view of the phenomenon and specific manifestations of the phenomenon were also considered in case studies. The purpose of the research was to develop a model for managers to assist them in dealing with environmental change. Qualitative research methodology was utilised and feedback from semi-structured interviews was categorised into several emergent themes. Within-case and cross-case analyses were conducted. Research results indicate that the conversion phenomenon occurred in two waves - one initiated in the 1980s and driven by the trade unions and a second in the 1990s, driven by employers, often at the advice of their consultants. Evidence of the start of a third wave also emerged. Results indicate that an environmental shock exerted a substantial influence on the course of events. Under these:  Various factors combined to drive organisational evolution (i.e. adaptation to the environment).  Adaptation speed was inappropriate and exceeded that which was required for sufficient thought.  Uncertainty and vacuum circumstances arose leading to consequences that require redress.  The power of the relative stakeholders changed and influenced the strategic outcome.  An imbalance in stakeholder interests arose and ethical factors became consequential.  Business acted to restore certainty for itself. Existing literature explained organisational behaviour in environments of competitive shock and high turbulence, but not in circumstances of environmental shock. A model emerged to assist managers to deal with environmental change, which was applied to an analysis of pension fund reform. It was also applied to the pension fund perspective on Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment. This master's thesis deals with modeling of linear electrical circuits through the differential algebraical equation systems. It describes methods of numerical solving, discusses the need of algebraical conversions and possibility of minimalization through the use of parasitic components. In addition, it involves the design and implementation of extension of available simulation tool.

Die Untersuchung 'Von den Ähnlichkeiten und Differenzen. Ehre und Drama des XVI. und XVII. Jahrhunderts in Italien und Spanien' stellt ein Standardwerk sowie den bisher stärksten und gründlichsten Beitrag zu einem der meistdiskutierten Themen der Hispanistik, zur Ehre und zum Drama des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts unter Berücksichtigung Italiens dar, das im Rahmen eines kulturtheoretischen, semiotisch-epistemologischen Konzepts ein umfassendes Interpretations- und Erklärungsmodell für die interkulturelle und intertextuelle Behandlung der Gebiete Drama, Poetik, Ehre, Ethik, Rechtsphilosophie, Moraltheologie, Strafgesetze entwickelt. Die Arbeit gliedert sich in zwei große Abteilungen: die erste beschäftigt sich gleichermaßen mit dem Ehr-begriff, der Rache, der Ehe und dem Ehebruch in der Ethik und Jurisprudenz in Italien und Spanien. Honour and Drama of the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries in Italy and Spain' is a standard work and the strongest and most thorough contribution to date to one of the most discussed topics in Hispanic Studies, Honour and drama in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, taking Italy into account. It develops a comprehensive model of interpretation and explanation for the intercultural and intertextual treatment of the fields of drama, honour, ethics, legal philosophy, moral theology and penal laws within the framework of a cultural-theoretical, semiotic-epistemological concept. The work is divided into two large sections: the first deals equally with the concept of honour, revenge, marriage and adultery in ethics and jurisprudence in Italy and Spain. (Here he draws on Roman, Greek and Spanish jurisprudence of the Middle Ages, on moral theology, on the books of the confessors and preachers, on collections of proverbs and anecdotes). On the basis of this material, the traits, the similarities and differences, between the two systems are analysed. In the second part, dedicated to the analysis of tragedy and tragicomedy in Italy and Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries, with over three hundred dramas, a comparable method, that of similarities and differences, is used in the historical-typological study (poetics) of the dramatic genres in both countries, providing a system that explains and interprets the dramas of honour.
