Teachers' Experiences That Influence Their Self-efficacy to Foster Student Creativity

Wilson, Kim K. 01 January 2018 (has links)
Creativity has been included in student learning and model teaching standards with little systematic attention on the preparedness of current practitioners to implement such expectations. This qualitative case study is conducted to discover what knowledge and skills teachers perceived to be necessary to implement practices that foster and develop student creativity with a strong sense of self-efficacy. A purposeful sample of 58 teachers from 4 Arkansas A+ (ARA+) network schools shared their perceptions of how creativity-fostering professional development (PD) influenced their sense of self-efficacy to foster creativity and answer the research questions. Data were collected using questionnaires, individual interviews, and focus groups and analyzed through comparative analysis of open-ended responses. Findings showed that teachers who reported attending ARA+ PD had a positive influence on their sense of self-efficacy to foster creativity through shared applicable ideas and permissible risk taking. Establishing infrastructure for the creative process was determined to be the most salient knowledge and an increase in flexible thinking was the most salient skill. Conclusions drawn from teachers' experiences could provide an opportunity for positive social change through insightful recommendations. Creativity-fostering strategies, such as brainstorming procedures, were recommended for both professional interactions and for classroom instruction. Conclusions and proposed recommendations promote a deeper understanding of how efficacious beliefs towards creativity integration among practitioners could improve systematic efforts to address the imperative call for teachers to develop creativity skills within students.

FLAŠKOVÁ, Petra January 2015 (has links)
This thesis consists of two parts theoretical and practical. In the theoretical one, definition of creativity, terms connected with creativity such as intelligence, imagination, age, barriers and methods of developing creativity are mentioned. Every creative process has its stages and it is also possible to enumerate qualities of a creative personality that a good creative teacher should have. Art lessons represent one of many options how to develop creativity and an art project is a very good tool for that. Students accommodated in a student's hall of residence that comes under schools OA,SOŠ and SOU in Třeboň are participants of this project. These students are about 16-18 years old. The art project called "Člověk napříč časem" represents the second part of this thesis. At the beginning of this part, I mention inspiration for this project and I explain its structure. The aim of this project is to make the participants think about values, relationships, communication among us and also to make them think about themselves while emphasising environmental education. One of the sub-goals of this project is naturally also the development of creativity and to find out whether it is possible with this group.

Projekt praktické činnosti jako prostor rozvoje faktorů tvořivosti u žáka primární školy / Project practical activity like place for progresing of factores of creativity of schoolchild in primary school

MÍČKOVÁ, Jaroslava January 2015 (has links)
My dissertation deals with the contribution of practical activities as scope for the factors developing creativity of primary school pupils. Firstly, the definitions of the terms creativity, technical education and project teaching, based on specialised literature, are introduced. These three theoretical spheres focus in detail on the creative process and product, creative factors, convergent and divergent thinking skills, the creative person and the methods that help develop his or her creativity. I try to clarify the technique as a means of development of practical activities. After that I deal with the educational area "Man and the World of Work" and present possible topics for the development of creativity in working education. My thesis demonstrates a project together with its types and focuses on the implementation and benefits of project-based learning. The practical part is focused on the development of individual projects. Fifteen individual projects, helping to develop creativity of pupils at primary schools, were offered to twenty-one teachers. These teachers participated in a questionnaire survey and they were given an opportunity to provide feedback on the above mentioned individual projects. The results of the survey are described in the sixth chapter of this thesis.
