Given this reality, we investigate concepts of present time, historical time and culture. Besides that, we present a synthetic outlook about the creation of the Tocantins state as well as the formation of Palmas’s city, introducing it as an area of strong population attraction. Region and regionality were conceptualized and the migration was shown as a resistance element. The Northeast region was approached as a cultural invention, and finally we analyze which elements of the northeastern culture are present in Palmas: the popular street markets, the Capital Arraiá, the typical food and the cordel project. The oral history was applied as methodology. Therefore, we interviewed the northeasters who live in Palmas. / Este trabalho tem por objetivo demonstrar quais os elementos da cultura nordestina exercem maior influência em Palmas. Desse modo, buscamos conceituar tempo presente, tempo histórico e cultura. Também apresentamos um quadro sintético da criação do Tocantins e da formação de Palmas, apresentando-a como área de grande atração populacional. Conceituamos região e regionalidade, apresentando a migração como fator de resistência. Abordamos o Nordeste como uma invenção cultural e, por fim, discorremos sobre os elementos da cultura nordestina presentes em Palmas: as feiras, o Arraiá da Capital, as comidas típicas e o projeto de cordel. Utilizamos como metodologia a História oral, colhendo depoimentos e entrevistas de nordestinos que moram em Palmas.
