The thesis research is devoted to activities of the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy, which existed in Podiebrady during 1922-1935 and developed into the first Ukrainian Polytechnic, where youth from the different Ukrainian territories, belonging to Poland, Hungary, Romania, USSR could get free education. This academy became "an island of Ukrainian culture" in a foreign land. The paper reviews the formation of this unique high school and its periodization, as well as its successor - the Ukrainian Technical Husbandry Institute of correspondence education (1932-1945), which appeared in exile due to the financial support of Czechoslovak government and donations of Ukrainians around the world. The last chapter is devoted to UHA broad publishing activities and attemp to list its educational works, which have been found in the several Czech archives as the parts of raw archival funds. Some aspects of the thesis concern the little-studied UHA contribution to the formation of economic, polytechnic and agricultural terminology in the modern Ukrainian language, as well as its librarianship together with the information about the location of UHA library in the Czech Republic.

This thesis presents and analyzes the media image of political programs of parties Christian and Democratic Union - Czechoslovak People's Party, Green Party, Party of Civic Rights - Zemanovci and Sovereignty after parliamentary elections in 2010 in programs of publice service media Czech Television and Czech Radio Political Spectrum and Twenty Minutes of Radiojournal. The theoretical part is introduced by description of the relationship between public service media and political sphere together with the different approaches to the study and exploration of public service media. There is a description of concepts of news coverage in the media public service generally as well specifically in the Czech Republic. This thesis also includes a description of management concepts of broadcasting public service media. Further more ale explained ideas of impartiality, objectivity and balance in public service media. The last area of theoretical part presented political programs of examined parties and surveyed programs. After the introduction of a methodology practical section contains a description of the results of the author's research. The final part of the thesis contains the interpretation of results and recommendations for further research.

The aim of this work is the analysis of a typology of characters in the serial novel, which was published in women's magazines in the interwar period. For this thesis were used methodology of quantitative content analysis and qualitative analysis of selected five novels to continue. The work was focused on the period 1931 - 1939. Obtained data were found identical types and features the characters used in contemporary novels to continue. They were found the common aspects of serial novels that formed the primary source material of this thesis. The research was obtained the basic data for working with literary figures of romantic fiction. In this work was prepared model the main male and female character appearing in the novels to continue. In this work was constructed the model of serial novel. Part of the thesis has brought an analysis of novels and their characters have been converted into a movie. This work confirmed the importance of the continuation novels, as a key department of women's periodicals in the interwar period. The contribution of this work is to analyze the most frequently used characters in the novels to continue. This thesis presents and analyzes the media image of political programs of parties Christian and Democratic Union - Czechoslovak People's Party, Green Party, Party of Civic Rights - Zemanovci and Sovereignty after parliamentary elections in 2010 in Czech public service media - Czech Press Agency, Czech Television and Czech Radio. In the theoretical part of the thesis are presented political party programs in the period 2010-2013, and also briefly introduced Czech public service media, their historical development or their current position in the media world. The practical part contains an analysis of textual and audiovisual content of individual media in the selected time period and focuses on the search for mentions of individual program points. Minor, but for understanding the role of public service media is an important part that compares the situation of position Czech public service media with those from another countries. The practical part then also examines the situation in the Czech world media after parliamentary elections in 2013 and if there are any consequences based on these results. The diploma thesis called The Media Image of Murder of Otýlie Vranská in the Czech Contemporary Press is dealing with the analysis of the serious press represented by daily newspaper Národní listy and with the analysis of the tabloid press represented by daily newspaper Expres in the selected period from September 1933 to February 1934. The analysis focuses on the news articles about the murder of Otýlie Vranská. She was murdered on 1st of September 1933, her corpse was quartered and sent to Slovakia in two suitcases − one suitcase was found in Bratislava and second in Košice. Both types of periodicals published 96 articles all together. The diploma thesis is divided into two main parts. Theoretical part, which is focused on definition of the First Czechoslovak Republic's period as well as introducing topics such as criminality and press in the First Czechoslovak Republic. In the end of this chapter there is a presentation of the life and death of Otýlie Vranská from an expert point of view. The second, practical part includes mentioned analysis of the news items, which comes after the definition of the key term: the social construction of reality and the definition of the chosen method: the comparative narrative analysis.

Between the years 1931-1934, both in the region of Jizera in the area between Semily and Mladá Boleslav and in the region of Central Elbe between Kolín and Nymburk, eight subsidiary unions of the Czechoslovakian-Lusatian society "Adolf Černý" were founded. On three other places, namely in Český Brod, Kouřim and Lysá nad Labem, the attempts to establish the local unions failed. Nonetheless, the area consequently became the second most significant cultural centre as well as the meeting point of the Lusatian Sorbs in the inter-war Czechoslovakia, the first one being Prague. It was regularly visited by the Lusatian Sokol gymnasts or choirs, and Lusatian-Sorbian children as well as university students spent their holidays there. It is therefore no surprise that the Mužský Hill near the city of Mnichovo Hradiště became the location of a demonstration in support of the Lusatian Sorbs which took place there in July 1933 as a reaction to a wave of persecutions in Germany. Due to the fragmentary nature of the sources, the topic of the following thesis is based primarily on the regional press, the Sorbian press and the journal Českolužický věstník, called Lužickosrbský věstník since 1931. A B S T R A C T This thesis analyzes the impact of the economic crisis in 1929-1934 on the Jablonec glass making with main attention to the district Železný Brod. One of the main causes of decline of the Czechoslovak glass industry in the first half of the 30s of 20th century was formed by pro-export focus. The region of Železný Brod and Jablonec nad Nisou had represented sites with major export, production and refining of glass that were for this reason by the economic crisis strongly affected. Deteriorating economic conditions at the beginning of 30s have resulted in intensified state intervention in industry, including the glass manufacturing as one of the most affected industrial areas. Because mostly cartels had regulatory function in the industry, a number of agreements among the glass producers in Jablonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod area were concluded. This thesis considers with different types of production and refining of the glass in order to offer the complete overview over the glass production in districts Jalonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod. This Master's thesis named "Approaches of Czech Churches towards Euthanasia" studies the topic of euthanasia through position papers of four selected churches active in the Czech Republic. The four examined churches are Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, and Czechoslovak Hussite Church whereas documents published by ecumenical panels are studied as well. The goal of the thesis is to create a statement overview of these four churches. First, the work introduces the topic itself, explains basic terms and development of different approaches. Second, it analyses position papers of examined churches which are subsequently compared in order to find the aspects which are common to the all four churches.

This thesis deals with Czechoslovak penal system between the years 1948 - 1989 from the view of religion. It investigates the developement of spiritual service in prison, follows its decline after February 1948 and describes in which way the prisoners tried to find a solution to the prohibiton to practice religion in prisons. Further it focuses on religious persecution in communist Czechoslovakia, presents reasons for imprisonment of the members of individual confessions and shows how their faith reflected in everyday life in prison. The author makes a reference to the concentration of priests in closed departements, explains its reason and tries to depict everyday life of these separated communities. He describes in details how the convicted practiced the acts of their religion and he deals with the differences of individual confessions. The work speculates over the sense of imprisonment of hundreds of priests, friars and laymen from some of the Churches in communist Czechoslovakia. It thinks about the power of faith and conviction exposed to cruel physical treatment and mental violence. It also deals with the question of colaboration, relations between members of different confession and between the convicted and warders. This diploma thesis attends to personnel "purge" in the field of public administration in Czechoslovakia after World War II in a broader context. "The purge" of civil servants is presented in the context of the overall development of the Czechoslovak Republic in the period 1945 -1948 and with the general requests of the postwar "purge". The attention is paid to the status of civil servants, particularly in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and in the postwar period. The next part of this thesis is focused on the activity of the purgatory commissions, which operated on the basis of the Decree of the President. In the selected ministries is performed the analysis and the comparison of the model cases of "purge" of the civil servants.
