Unit Commitment Methods to Accommodate High Levels of Wind Generation

Melhorn, Alexander Charles 01 August 2011 (has links)
The United State’s renewable portfolio standards call for a large increase of renewable energy and improved conservation efforts over today’s current system. Wind will play a ma jor role in meeting the renewable portfolio standards. As a result, the amount of wind capacity and generation has been growing exponentially over the past 10 to 15 years. The proposed unit commitment method integrates wind energy into a scheduable resource while keeping the formulation simple using mixed integer programming. A reserve constraint is developed and added to unit commitment giving the forecasted wind energy an effective cost. The reserve constraint can be scaled based on the needs of the system: cost, reliability, or the penetration of wind energy. The results show that approximately 24% of the load can be met in the given test system, while keeping a constant reliability before and after wind is introduced. This amount of wind will alone meet many of the renewable portfolio standards in the United States.

Vägen mot"smarta"engagemangssatsningar / Towards"clever"measures of commitment

Reuthammar, David, Thulin, Ragnar January 2001 (has links)

Factors affecting the retention of Black employees at a large financial institution.

Mohamed, Fatiema. January 2008 (has links)
<p><font face="Times New Roman"> <p align="left">The results emanating from the study indicate that Work Environment variables played the most crucial role in retaining Black talent in the organisation at which the research was undertaken. There were significant relationships between some of the biographical variables and retention, and the four retention factors significantly explained the variance in retention. Recommendations based on the data were made to various stakeholders in order to address the existing problem, while simultaneously protecting the rights to confidentiality of the respondents.</p> </font></p>

Brav, Martin January 2007 (has links)

Satisfaction;what makes us stay in a close relationship?

Lindholm, Charlotte January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to study various factors which might influence the level of satisfaction in close relationships. The theories which have been covered are: The triangular theory of love, The Investment model, Bowlby´s and Ainsworth attachment theories, The Equity theory, and the reward theory of attraction. The variables which were studied were: intimacy, rewards, commitment and equity. The level of perceived superiority was also studied, as well as satisfaction level in comparison to duration in the current relationship. A multiple regression was employed to find out which one of the variables above would associate strongest with satisfaction. A questionnaire was used to collect the data and a reliability test was therefore carried out. 72 participants took part in the study, 44 females and 28 males. The result showed that commitment had the strongest association with satisfaction, followed by intimacy. The result also showed that there was a negative significant correlation between superiority and level of satisfaction. More over the result did not show any correlation between duration in the current relationship and satisfaction. Two regressions were also performed to see which one of the variables (intimacy, reward, commitment and equity) would associate strongest with satisfaction in two conditions. The results showed that commitment had the strongest association for the condition with the participants who had been in their relationship 1-6 years. Commitment also had the strongest association in the other condition followed by intimacy. In this condition the participants had been in their relationship for seven years or more. The main discussion points have been the current results in comparison to other’s research in the area as well as suggestions for future research.
