Design of Microwave Filter Using Band-Gap Structures

Wang, Yu-Tsai 04 August 2004 (has links)
Using compact structure to improve the defect of traditional transmission line filter which size is too big or transmission line is too long. Two special structures are used to implement the filter that is smaller or superior characteristic. One of the two structures is called DGS that etched defect in the ground plane. The etched lattice shape for the transmission line consists of narrow and wide etched areas in backside metallic ground, which give rise to increasing the effective capacitance and inductance of a transmission line, respectively. Thus, by using this character, the low-pass filters are designed and implemented easily. Another structure is coupled of microstrip square open-loop resonators. First, the coupling coefficients of the three basic coupling structures versus distance between adjacent resonators and different offset is established by means of three-dimensional field analysis methods. Then, the band-pass filter will be implemented by the combination of three basic coupling structures. Finally, two low-pass filter which have cutoff frequency 5.4GHz¡B2.26GHz and a four-pole band-pass filter are designed and fabricated. All theoretical and experimental performance is presented.

Structural Properties Of Defected Graphene Nanoribbons Under Tension: Molecular-dynamics Simulations

Tuzun, Burcu 01 February 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Structural properties of pristine and defected graphene nanoribbons have been investigated by stretching them under 5 percent and 10 percent uniaxial strain until fragmentation. The stretching process has been carried out by performing molecular dynamics simulations (MDS) at 1 K and 300 K to determine the temperature effect on the structure of the graphene nanoribbons. Results of the simulations indicated that temperature, edge shape of graphene nanoribbons and stretching speed have a considerable effect on structural properties, however they have a slight effect on the strain value. The maximum strain at which fracture occurs is found to be 46.41 percent whereas minimum strain value is calculated as 21.00 percent. On the other hand, the defect formation energy is strongly affected from temperature and edge shape of graphene nanoribbons. Stone-Wales formation energy is calculated as -1.60 eV at 1 K whereas -30.13 eV at 300 K for armchair graphene nanoribbon.

Four-port miniaturized and highly isolated antenna for multiple-input multiple-output communication systems

Ayele, Mehari L. 12 1900 (has links)
The objective of this paper is to present an efficient miniaturized antenna design and simulation of a highly isolated multi-port micro-strip antenna for multiple-input multiple-output communication (MIMO) systems. Three geometric configurations were proposed and compared to achieve an isolation of as low as –30 dB without affecting the antenna performance greatly. The antenna was designed to operate at a resonance frequency of 2.45 GHz (fc ). Ferrite material beneath each meander structure was used for miniaturization purposes as well as an FR4 substrate with a compact overall area of .75 lambda0 ×.5 lambda0 for a system board, where lambda0 is the free space wavelength. A ground plane with small etched slits was used for isolation purposes. A maximum gain of 4.6 dBi in the azimuthal plane was achieved. Vibrational and mechanical properties of disordered solids

Milkus, Rico January 2018 (has links)
The recent development of a framework called non-affine lattice dynamics made it possible to calculate the elastic moduli of disordered systems directly from their microscopic structure and potential energy landscape at zero temperature. In this thesis different types of disordered systems were studied using this framework. By comparing the shear modulus and vibrational properties of nearest neighbour spring networks based on depleted lattices we were able to show that the dominating quantity of the system’s non-affine reorganisation during shear deformation is the affine force field. Furthermore we found that different implementation of disorder lead to the same behaviour at the isostatic point. Later we studied the effect of long range interaction in such depleted lattices with regard to spatial correlation local elasticity. We found that the implementation of long springs with decaying spring constant reproduced the spatial correlation observed in simulations of Lennard-Jones glasses. Finally we looked at simple freely rotating polymer model chains by extending the framework to angular forces and studied the dependence of the shear modulus and the vibrational density of states (VDOS) and length and bending stiffness of the chains. We found that the effect of chain length on the shear modulus and the vibrational density of states diminishes as it depends on the number of backbone bonds in the system. This number increases fast for short chains as many new backbone bonds are introduced but slows down significantly when the chain length reaches 50 monomers per chain. For the dependence on the bending stiffness we found a rich phenomenology that can be understood by looking at specific motions of the monomers relative the the chain geometry. We were able to trace back the different regimes of the VDOS to the simple model of the triatomic molecule. We also explored the limits of non-affine lattice dynamics when describing systems at temperatures T > 0 and gave an approximate solution for the shear modulus in this case.

MATĚJŮ, Jana January 2008 (has links)
Life on Runaway. Gypsies, Almsmen, Vagabonds and Defected Subjects in the South of Bohemia an 17th and 18th Century. The disertation is engaged in people, who were persecused by suzerain and state institutions for their illegal offences and actions against customs. It was investigate the period of 17th and 18th century in the South of Bohemia. The disertation is construct on normativ and criminal origins, that occure in State Regional Archive Třeboň. Tight cooperation with these origins came to the confrontation legal norm and its law experience. Gypsies, Almsmen, Vagabonds, defected subjects and women at the edge of society had got to the fore of disertation. The primary questions asked why these people got to the edge of the society, why they runaway, how looked their interference with settled society and what kind of personal, escapist and defensive strategy they chosen. Another questions had related their friendly and family relations and factors, which had influence. In disertation was chosen acces of historical antropology, history of temper and history of daily life.

Planární fraktální filtr na substrátu s porušenou zemí / Planar fractal filter on defected ground substrate

Kufa, Martin January 2012 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the design of planar filters combining fractal layouts and defected ground substrates. The diploma thesis can be divided into three main parts. First, basic knowledge about fractals is presented (creation of Minkowski Island and Koch loop, e.g.). Then, the principle of defected ground structure is described, and a combination of fractal motives with a defected ground structure is briefly introduced. Properties of investigated structures are verified by CST Microwave Studio and Ansoft HFSS. Second, different defected ground structures under the 50 transmission line are designed, and conventional equivalent filters are created. Filters are simulated and compared. In final, the investigated filters are recalculated for the substrate Arlon 25N, simulated, manufactured, measured and confronted with a conventional filter on the defected ground substrate.
