Odložená daň / Deferred Tax

Kartáková, Romana January 2012 (has links)
This thesis deals with the issue of deferred tax which is an important accounting area because it affects the amount of disposable profit. The theoretical part describes the income tax and explains the difference between current and deferred tax. It specifies the accounting legislation of the Czech Republic and International Financial Reporting Standards which relate to deferred tax. It analyzes the center and meaning of deferred tax, describes titles that lead to its creation. It explains the process of calculation, accounting and reporting of deferred tax. The practical part deals with titles leading to deferred tax, calculation, accounting and reporting of deferred tax in the given company. It refers to the effect on profit and profitability of the given company which is part of the analysis of deferred tax of the last three accounting periods.

On the effects of tax-deferred saving accounts

Ho, Anson Tai Yat 01 July 2011 (has links)
In this dissertation, I develop a framework to study the effects of tax-deferred saving accounts on the aggregate economy. I incorporate tax-deferred saving accounts in a theoretical model of household's life-cycle decisions, which is then linked to the real world data by calibration. I study the effects of tax-deferred saving accounts on the aggregate savings and the aggregate output, and further analyze their impacts of different policy changes. In the first chapter, I present the important features of tax-deferred saving accounts in the U.S. and their institutional changes over time. I highlight the differences between IRA and 401(k) on their contribution limits and household's eligibility. While IRA has a lower contribution limit and is available to all households, 401(k) has a much higher contribution limit but is only accessible by a fraction of households. In the second chapter, I present an overlapping-generations model to capture the effects of tax-deferred saving accounts in a general equilibrium framework. There are four key aspects to the model: first, households can save in both ordinary saving account and tax-deferred saving account. Second, there is a nonlinear progressive income tax system. Third, households are heterogeneous in their labor productivity and 401(k) eligibility. Fourth, households decide consumption, savings and labor supply endogenously. The model is calibrated to the US economy in 2000, with the distribution of 401(k) eligibility being an endogenous outcome that matches the data reported in Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) in 2001. In the third chapter, I study the quantitative effects of tax-deferred saving accounts on the aggregate economy and investigate their policy implications. Specifically, I estimate the macroeconomic impacts of eliminating tax-deferred saving accounts from the economy. To highlight the role played by the heterogeneity of 401(k) eligibility, I conduct a quantitative exercise that provide universal 401(k) eligibility to all households. In these experiments, I maintain government revenue neutrality by introducing a new proportional income tax (subsidy) that has the same effects as a upward (downward) shift of all marginal tax rates in the US income tax schedule. Since the institutional settings of tax-deferred saving accounts essentially provide consumption tax treatments on households retirement savings, I further explore the implications of tax-deferred saving accounts for a proportional consumption tax reform. Results from this study indicate that tax-deferred saving accounts have significant impacts on the aggregate economy and demonstrate that these accounts substantially reduce the impacts of a consumption tax reform.

Turbulent orifice flow in hydropower applications, a numerical and experimental study

Zhang, Ziji January 2001 (has links)
This thesis reports the methods to simulate flows withcomplex boundary such as orifice flow. The method is forgeneral purposes so that it has been tested on different flowsincluding orifice flow. Also it contains a chapter about theexperiment of orifice flow. Higher-order precision interpolation schemes are used inumerical simulation to improve prediction at acceptable gridrefinement. Because higher-order schemes cause instability inconvection-diffusion problems or involve a large computationalkernel, they are implemented with deferred correction method. Alower-order scheme such as upwind numerical scheme is used tomake preliminary guess. A deferred (defect) correction term isadded to maintain precision. This avoids the conflict betweenprecision order and implementation difficulty. The authorproposes a shifting between upwind scheme and centraldifference scheme for the preliminary guess. This has beenproven to improve convergence while higher order schemes havewider range of stability. Non-orthogonal grid is a necessity for complex flow. Usuallyone can map coordinate of such a grid to a transformed domainwhere the grid is regular. The cost is that differentialequations get much more complex form. If calculated directly innon-orthogonal grid, the equations keep simple forms. However,it is difficult to make interpolation in a non-orthogonal grid.Three methods can be used: local correction, shape function andcurvilinear interpolation. The local correction method cannotinsure second-order precision. The shape function method uses alarge computational molecule. The curvilinear interpolationthis author proposes imports the advantage of coordinatetransformation method: easy to do interpolation. A coordinatesystem staggered half control volume used in the coordinatetransformation method is used as accessory to deriveinterpolation schemes. The calculation in physical domain withnon-orthogonal grid becomes as easy as that in a Cartesianorthogonal grid. The author applies this method to calculate turbulentorifice flow. The usual under-prediction of eddy length isimproved with the ULTRA-QUICK scheme to reflect the highgradients in orifice flow. In the last chapter, the author quantifies hydraulicabruptness to describe orifice geometry. The abruptness canhelp engineers to interpolate existing data to a new orifice, which saves detailed experiments

How Do Firms Use Discretion in Deferred Revenue?

Caylor, Marcus Lamar 27 April 2006 (has links)
I conduct an examination of the deferred revenue account. I provide descriptive evidence of deferred revenue both at an industry-level and a macro-level, and I examine whether managers use discretion in deferred revenue around earnings benchmarks. I develop a model to measure the normal change in short-term deferred revenue, and examine how the abnormal change varies across the pre-managed distribution of three common earnings benchmarks. My results show that managers delay recognition of revenue using deferred revenue when pre-managed earnings exceed benchmarks by a large margin, and accelerate the recognition of revenue using deferred revenue when premanaged earnings just miss or miss benchmarks by a large amount. I document the prevalence of accelerated revenue recognition, and show that meeting or just beating the annual consensus analyst forecast is where the most cases of suspected accelerated revenue recognition occur. The results are next strongest for the avoidance of earnings decrease benchmark and weakest for the avoidance of loss benchmark. I examine whether conventional abnormal accrual models reflect discretion in deferred revenue, and whether discretion in deferred revenue is associated with lower earnings quality. I show that deferred revenue changes are a leading indicator of future earnings. My results indicate that discretion in revenue can lower the predictability of sales regardless of whether it is of an aggressive or conservative nature.

Determinants of Foreign Exchange Market Intervention by the People's Bank of China and RMB Exchange Rate

Kang, Chiung-wen 29 June 2011 (has links)
In this article, we explore the determinants of foreign exchange market intervention by the People's Bank of China as well as RMB real exchange rate. Mmonthly data from July 2005 to October 2010 are used. In the foreign exchange market intervention, operating variables and economic variables are studied separately. For the economic variables, we find that economic leading index of China is an important factor to determine whether to intervene or not. In addition, we find that producer price index is better than consumer price index to explain intervention in foreign exchange market. Economic leading index of U.S. is also important to determine the intervention. For the operating variables, we find that intervention by the People's Bank of China has the characteristics of leaning against the wind and deferred intervention. Foreign capital inflows are also the important determinant of the intervention. As for the determinants of RMB real exchange rate, we find that the China-U.S. interest rate differentials and China's business cycles relative to the U.S. are the main factors to determine the RMB real exchange rate. Also, the RMB tends to move with the Euro's in the same direction.

An Exploration of Deferred Imitation in Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Morgan, Jennifer 26 August 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to explore imitation in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by (a) examining the ability of children with ASD to engage in deferred imitation, as compared to typically developing (TD) children; (b) determining the impact of differing time delays on the ability of children with ASD and TD children to imitate simple actions on objects; and (c) examining the role of a verbal prompt on the ability of children with ASD to engage in deferred imitation, as compared to TD controls. Additionally, the role of language in deferred imitation was explored. Participants included 15 children with ASD and 15 TD children. Participants observed object oriented actions and were given the opportunity to imitate spontaneously. Those participants who did not imitate spontaneously were given a verbal prompt and a further opportunity to imitate. Participants with ASD demonstrated fewer spontaneous and total (i.e. spontaneous and prompted) imitations and took more time to do so at a short and a longer time delay, as compared to TD participants. Participants with ASD were given more verbal prompts than TD participants at a short and a longer time delay. Language was related to deferred imitation at a short time delay for participants with ASD but not for TD participants and language was not related to deferred imitation at a longer time delay for either group. / Graduate / 0525 / 0529

Effect of late pregnancy management on behaviour, welfare and calf health in dairy cattle

Fujiwara, Mayumi January 2018 (has links)
Studies in various animal species have demonstrated that stress during pregnancy can have a detrimental effect on progeny health and development throughout its postnatal life. If this were to apply to dairy cows, minimising stress in pregnant cows could be of critical importance in ensuring offspring health and welfare. However, relationships between maternal health and welfare and offspring performance have not been well investigated in dairy cattle. Traditionally management strategies for cows in late pregnancy (i.e. in the dry period) have focused on maximising milk production whilst minimising impacts on postpartum health. This may include management practices that can have a negative impact on the health and welfare of cows in the dry period itself. This project aimed to identify potential sources of stress associated with management practices in late pregnant cows, and to investigate its effects on offspring health, behaviour and welfare. A survey was conducted to investigate typical dry cow and pre-weaned calf management practices on dairy farms in the United Kingdom (UK). Data from 148 commercial UK dairy farms provided valuable information on dry cow and pre-weaning calf management. Procedures that were commonly practised but potentially stressful for dry cows included the abrupt cessation of milking and frequent changes in diet and social environment. Two experimental studies were conducted to investigate the impact of alternative management practices in late pregnancy on progeny welfare. The first experiment investigated the behavioural, physiological and metabolic responses of dry cows to industry minimum standards (H: high stocking group) compared to a more extensive space allowance (L: low stocking density). The offspring of these cows were monitored until weaning to assess their responses to typical dairy farm procedures. The second experiment was conducted on calves born to heifers from an out-wintering project. Pregnant heifers were kept either indoor or outdoor grazing (on deferred grass or kale) throughout the winter period. The health, growth and behaviour of offspring were monitored for the first 14 days of life. Limited feed-face space resulted in altered feeding patterns and increased competition at the feed-face. There was no association between dry period stocking density and the physiology and metabolism of dry cows. Maternal treatment had no impact on pre-weaned calf birth weight, health, growth, passive immunity, neonatal vigour and the majority of behavioural outcomes. However, H calves made more frequent social contact with companions compared to L calves and showed higher behavioural reactivity to weaning. Maternal high stocking density treatment and previous disease incidence in calves reduced the behavioural reactions to disbudding and the expression of pain-related behaviours. Out-wintering of pregnant heifers on kale showed no negative impact on growth compared to the indoor group, whilst out-wintering on deferred grass resulted in the lowest growth rate. However, out-wintering on deferred grass may have enhanced offspring social motivation and learning ability. This study has demonstrated potential associations between maternal experience during pregnancy, and offspring growth and behaviour. The effect of maternal treatment on offspring behaviour may be more likely to emerge in challenging situations. Further research will be needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and to reach definite conclusions, which would have implications for improving the welfare of late pregnant cows and their offspring.

Características dos tributos diferidos nas companhias abertas brasileiras após a adoção das IFRS / Characteristics of deferred taxes in the Brazilian public companies after the adoption of IFRS

Fabio Lopes Madeira 02 March 2015 (has links)
This research investigated the economic motivations that explain the level of recognition of deferred income taxes in the Brazilian companies during initial adoption of IFRS in Brazil and the mandatory term of the Transitional Tax Regime. Non-financial public companies were selected in the index IBrX 100, 68 companies were identified from 2010 to 2013 comprising 272 observations. The descriptive analysis of the data indicated that the amount of deferred tax liabilities was greater than the amount of deferred tax assets in all years studied, a situation that contracts with the pre-IFRS scenario where there were fewer deferred tax liabilities due to reduced options of temporary exclusions and that the deferred tax assets are mainly arising from temporary differences, however there was further growth of tax credits related to tax losses in the period combined with a greater increase in total tax assets than deferred tax liabilities. In the multivariate multiple regression analysis with panel data it was found that: (i) there is no significant relationship between the recognition of deferred taxes and the debts of the Company, that is, there is no evidence that companies use deferred taxes for the purpose of influencing the level of debt, despite the possibility of covenants be broken and, consequently, increase its credit risk, (ii) larger firms tend to register a lower value of net deferred tax assets to reduce their profits and disclose their overcharge in order to reduce public exposure, and (iii) the least profitable firms are likely to recognize a greater amount of net deferred tax assets for presumably mitigate the low result of the company and thus mask their poor performance and also, on the other hand, companies that have higher profitability tend to register lower values of net deferred tax assets to reduce profit, and thus, lower their political costs. Thus, the results suggest that companies use discretion provided by the accounting regulation of deferred taxes to achieve their goals and demands, to reduce public exposure and improve its profitability.
