An Examination of Delay Discounting in Sex Offenders with Dual DiagnosesPoncinie, Chad A. 01 December 2013 (has links)
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF CHAD A. PONCINIE. For the Master of Science degree in Behavior Analysis and Therapy, presented on 21 June 2013. TITLE: AN EXAMINATION OF DELAY DISCOUNTING IN SEX OFFENDERS WITH DUAL DIAGNOSES MAJOR PROFESSOR: Dr. Mark R. Dixon Discounting of delayed rewards by sex offenders with dual diagnoses was compared to discounting of delayed rewards by matched control non-offenders with dual diagnoses. All participants completed a hypothetical choice task in which they made repeated choices between 10 dollars/servings after a delay and an equal or lesser amount available immediately. The delay to the large reward was varied from 1 day to 2 years across conditions. Indifference points between immediate and delayed rewards were identified at each delay condition by varying the amount of immediate money across choice trials. Overall, those identified as sex offenders discounted the delayed reward more steeply than did the control non-offenders.

Investigação sorológica, molecular e filogenética do Zika virusMessias, Thiago Silva January 2019 (has links)
... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus that causes Zika Fever and is associated with Congenital Malformations and Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which has been declared an international public health problem by the World Health Organization. We conduct a serological and molecular investigation of ZIKV in human samples in the Bauru region of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, in order to contribute to the determination of the first cases of ZIKV infection in the study sites. Serological investigation was made by immunochromatography technique performed in 2000 Dengue virus negative samples referring to the years 2014-2016, 159 (7.9%) was positive for ZIKV, evidencing that the circularization of ZIKV in the region of study began in 2014. The presence of ZIKV ribonucleic acid (RNA) in the 159 serologically positive samples was investigated by the Quantitative Reverse Polymerase Chain Reaction technique. All did not show detectable RNA. This molecular negative result from serum enhances the possibility of ZIKV adhesion in erythrocytes. These findings raise the question of whether other flaviviruses have the same potential. We also performed a phylogenetic analysis of the ZIKV species. With the purpose of generating hypotheses referring to its distribution dynamics. For this we use the databases, algorithms and parameters present in the software Virus Pathogen Resource and MEGA7. Our evidence allows us to infer that the ZIKV presents a possible adaptation in the Northeast Region ... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

The impact of managed care on psychologists' ability to accurately diagnose, treat and perceive their clientsGaies, Samantha Elizabeth 15 April 2014 (has links)
It has been demonstrated psychologists are more likely to over-diagnose clients to obtain reimbursement if clients are using insurance (Pomerantz & Segrist, 2006). Although diagnoses are helpful in providing direction for treatment plans, incorrect diagnoses may be stigmatizing and result in flawed care (Wahl, 1999). Using an experimental design with video vignettes simulating therapy sessions, this paper will explore whether psychologists tend to excessively believe in false diagnoses when forced to provide them, as well as whether those labels negatively affect psychologists' opinions of clients. Hierarchical multiple regression will be used to determine if those in the group forced to diagnose a client tend to over-diagnose and have a more negative opinion of the client. / text

Diagnostika prekonceptů k didaktice u studentů učitelství a vnímání těchto pojmů u učitelů v praxi na 1. stupni ZŠ / Diagnosis of preconcepts For Didactics of Students of Teaching And Perception of Those Concepts By Primary School TeachersMAZÁKOVÁ, Helena January 2008 (has links)
This diploma work raises the issues of preconcepts for didactics of students of teaching, deals with the perception of those concepts by primary school teachers, and subsequently with their diagnosis . The aim of this work is to find out to what extent the perception of some chosen didactic concepts are connected comparing students of pedagogical faculty and experienced primary school teachers. The theoretical part aims to define the concepts involved in the research and concerns with constructivists didactics. In the practical part the data relating to preconcepts were found and processed by method of semantic differential.

Identifying Patients At Risk For Obstructive Sleep Apnea In Primary Health Care : Can Obesity In Combination With Other High-risk Diagnoses Be Used For Screening Purposes?Lima, Clelia 01 January 2011 (has links)
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) affects about 15 million adults in the United States, and is an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality. The under-diagnosing of OSA has been linked to the inadequate screening by primary care practitioners (PCPs). Existing screening tools are not widely used by PCPs possibly due to time constraints they experience as providers. This study demonstrates how common high-risk diagnoses (obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus type 2, dyslipidemia, arrhythmia, and coronary artery disease) can be used to help PCPs identify adult patients at risk for OSA. Unlike other screening tools, these diagnoses are easy to identify in a routine visit. This study was a retrospective chart review that used a random sample of 220 electronic health records. Seventy percent of the sample was positive for OSA, 69% had obesity, and 33% had two or more high-risk diagnoses. The setting of this study was six sleep centers located in five cities in Central Florida. Logistic regression was used to analyze the data to determine interaction among variables and odds ratios. The variables "obesity" and "two or more high-risk diagnoses" had significant effects on the likelihood of being diagnosed with OSA independently of each other (odds ratio of 4.2 and 4.3 respectively; p
