Núcleos residenciais da CESP: o processo de desmonte / Workers housing from CESP: the process of dismount

Vianna, Mônica Peixoto 05 October 2006 (has links)
The present dissertation studies the dismount of workers housing from Companhia Energética de São Paulo (CESP) through the analysis of the cases of Barra Bonita, Bariri and Porto Primavera. By dismount is understood the modification of the work management system, which was based on a model where companies and workers housing used to belong to the same system. One of the issues noticed through this investigation was that this process happened in different ways. In some cases, they were alienated and sold to leisure and tourism enterprises; in others, they were yielded to Fundação CESP, in order to be converted into lodges for its workers. There were some where the houses were converted into neighborhoods or cities and, in the most extreme cases, the houses were demolished. The main goal of this research is to investigate and analyze the spatial configuration of the workers housing from CESP as well as the justifications and characteristics of the process of dismount that had occurred in this places, studying and comparing the different destinations from the three cases chosen for a deeper examination. The whole work was based on a bibliographic research about the subject; on systematizations and surveys of information acquired from documents in historical archives to the electrical companies of São Paulo, on records from the hydroelectric factories and cities selected to be analyzed and on visits to the dismounted workers housing in order to collect pictures and make interviews. On a large number of workers housing analyzed was noticed a singular kind of dismount, in which the change on the spatial arrange was related to the CESP intention, on selling them and, to the interest of the leisure and tourism enterprises, in buying and converting them.

Radar detection and identification of human signatures using moving platforms

Gürbüz, Sevgi Zübeyde 17 August 2009 (has links)
Radar offers unique advantages over other sensors for the detection of humans, such as remote operation during virtually all weather and lighting conditions, increased range, and better coverage. Many current radar-based human detection systems employ some type of Fourier analysis, such as Doppler processing. However, in many environments, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of human returns is quite low. Furthermore, Fourier-based techniques assume a linear variation in target phase over the aperture, whereas human targets have a highly nonlinear phase history. The resulting phase mismatch causes significant SNR loss in the detector itself. In this work, human target modeling is used to derive a more accurate non-linear approximation to the true target phase history. Two algorithms are proposed: a parameter estimation-based optimized non-linear phase (ONLP) detector, and a dictionary search-based enhanced optimized non-linear phase (EnONLP) detector. The ONLP algorithm optimizes the likelihood ratio over the unknown model parameters to derive a more accurate approximation to the expected human return. The EnONLP algorithm stores expected target signatures generated for each possible combination of model parameters in a dictionary, and then applies Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) to determine the optimal linear combination of dictionary entries that comprises the measured radar data. Thus, unlike the ONLP, the EnONLP algorithm also has the capability of detecting the presence of multiple human targets. Cramer-Rao bounds (CRB) on parameter estimates and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves are used to validate analytically the performance of both proposed methods to that of conventional, fully adaptive STAP. Finally, application of EnONLP to target characterization is illustrated.

Caieiras: núcleo fabril e preservação / Caieiras: industrial nucleus and preservation

Jeronymo, Vanice 21 September 2011 (has links)
This dissertation deals with the formation of core manufacturing improvements made by the Company in Caieiras (SP). Established themselves as research subjects the buildings erected during the growth period of the nucleus, the daily training of workers and population, the process of dismantling the core and initiatives aimed at preserving the remaining buildings. Analyzes the architecture of buildings and collective household such as housing for workers and managers, churches, clubs, cinema, stores, schools, railway station buildings and workrelated and industrial production. In this analysis we observed the predominance of the eclectic architecture of coated elements of classical language. The main objective of this dissertation is to examine the spatial formation of the core manufacturing and thinking about measures for the conservation of buildings remaining in the current context where the assets of the company rather is embedded in the process of fragmentation and real estate appreciation. Notes the need for further discussion on issues related to the practice and implementation of policies for heritage preservation in Caieiras, highlighting the weaknesses of the current municipal legislation which deals with the need to protect the cultural heritage of the city. The completion of this study was based on literature about the topic, the systematization of the material obtained through research in historical archives, in metric surveys, and the iconographic interviews with former residents and workers in the industrial core of Caieiras.
