  • The Global ETD Search service is a free service for researchers to find electronic theses and dissertations. This service is provided by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.
Our metadata is collected from universities around the world. If you manage a university/consortium/country archive and want to be added, details can be found on the NDLTD website.

Curricular emphasis in Industrial Distribution programs and programs of similar theme

Miller, John Edward 30 September 2004 (has links)
Thirteen state-sponsored colleges and universities within the United States offer a bachelor level degree in Industrial Distribution. The first of these emerged in the 1950s in response to industry demands for unique educational preparation of entry-level professionals. Since the 1980s, increased sophistication in the field has accelerated the demand for educational preparation of Industrial Distribution professionals. The problem facing educators is to determine the mix of courses that will provide the appropriate curricular focus when developing or refining the programs at their individual institutions. In the first phase of this study, the curricular focus of the current bachelor level programs in Industrial Distribution is identified in the form of eight curricular groupings representing the required courses in those programs. The second phase of this study investigates the curricula of programs that contain a similar theme of focus at state-sponsored colleges and universities. The purpose is to identify programs other than formal Industrial Distribution programs, which have similar curricular focus, and may therefore provide graduates of similar educational preparation. In addition to providing educators with insight into the relationship between formal Industrial Distribution programs and those of similar theme, this portion of the study provides managers in the field with information to consider when evaluating schools as potential sources of new hires. State-sponsored schools in the study were identified from the membership of the American Association of State-Sponsored Colleges and Universities (AASCU). Findings included ninety-six institutions from the six most populous and six least populous states, as of the 2000 U.S. Census. These institutions provided a representative sample of the 387 colleges and universities currently members of AASCU. The identified schools offer over four hundred programs of similar theme to the thirteen formal Industrial Distribution programs. The overwhelming majority of those programs are in colleges of Business and Technology, and are generally marketed as supporting general or governmental business, with no reference in catalogs, and departmental literature or Internet websites as supporting fields directly identifiable with Industrial Distribution.

La distribution électronique : franchise et Internet

Cheaib, Wassim 04 1900 (has links)
Ever since ecommerce has become a widespread commerciai environment, the distribution networks (new and preexistent), composed of suppliers and distributors, have tried to develop a real commercial activity on the web. This objective upsets the organization of the resale of the products by becoming competitor and complement of the traditional networks of distribution. Our work deals with the legal analysis of the incidence of Internet on the relations between distributors and suppliers, more particularly on the contract which bind these two parties. We articulated our work around the comparison of the European and North-American legal systems. We examine the coexistence and compatibility between of these distribution networks and the virtual merchandising, with the goal of proposing certain avenues for the future development of the existing networks through the Internet. / "Mémoire présenté à la Faculté des études supérieures En vue de l'obtention du grade de LL.M. The analysis of latency data using the inverse Gaussian distribution /

Pashley, Peter J. January 1987 (has links)
The inverse Gaussian distribution is investigated as a basis for statistical analyses of skewed and possibly censored response times. This distribution arises from a random walk process, is a member of the exponential family, and admits the sample arithmetic and harmonic means as complete sufficient statistics. In addition, the inverse Gaussian provides a reasonable alternative to the more commonly used lognormal statistical model due to the attractive properties of its parameter estimates. / Three modifications were made to the basic distribution definition: adding a shift parameter to account for minimum latencies, allowing for Type I censoring, and convoluting two inverse Gaussian random variables in order to model components of response times. Corresponding parameter estimation and large sample test procedures were also developed. / Results from analysing two extensive sets of simple and two-choice reaction times suggest that shifting the origin and accounting for Type I censoring can substantially improve the reliability of inverse Gaussian parameter estimates. The results also indicate that the convolution model provides a convenient medium for probing underlying psychological processes.
