This diploma thesis deals with the motivation of adults to the higher education in the master's degree program Educational Management at the faculty of education at Charles University. The first part of the work is focused on a clear summary of basic knowledge about adult education and motivation. This part introduces concepts such as lifelong learning, adult education in the Czech Republic and at Czech universities, the master's program Management of Education, types and basic theories of motivation and motivation of adults to learn. The second part of the thesis contains a description of the methodology and the results of the survey. The survey is based on semi-structured interviews with students studying in the master's degree program Educational Management at the faculty of education at Charles University. The interviews focus on what motivated adults to study in the master's degree program, why they chose the Education Management program, what is their current motivation to learn, what benefits of studying they perceive, what barriers they perceive during their studies and what plans they have after graduation. This thesis which is called ''Adult Education in the Area of Foreign Languages in České Budějovice' deals with characteristics of adult education, motivation, and barriers of this education. The thesis also examines particularities of adult education, their possibilities, purpose and aims with the emphasis on language education. Moreover, the thesis works with documents relating to adult education in the area of foreign languages. The part of the thesis deals with a foreign language, its effect on a culture, and intensification and improvement of international relations. The practical part presents quantitative research which examined the most learned languages, motivation and barriers of adult language education via questionnaire.

The master's thesis is focused on work of Cyril Orvin Houle, key thoughts and the influence on a theory and a practise of the adult education in the United States of America. The key objective of the thesis is introduce Cyril Orvin Houle's work, analyse primary and secondary sources and find key thoughts of the topic of the adult education. Papers and journals are described into details, which illustrate the beginning of his career and current topics, on which he responded, and selected professional and popular science publicatons. His works are set into a context of a development of the adult education in the USA and inspirational sources are identified. On the basis of the analysis results of documents, it can be concluded that key thoughts are self-directed learning, motivation of adult lerners to connect into education activities, vocational education conception in the USA and education programmes planning.

The present master's thesis deals with the issue of non-formal non-vocational adult education occurring in particular during leisure time of individuals. The objective of the present study is the analysis of the current outlook of the informal education of adults outside working activities in the Czech Republic. The study has focused on the level of participation of the adults in the non-formal non-vocational education as well as the provision of the offer of educational activities. First of all, the thesis has focused on definition, functions as well as the utilisation of leisure time by the adults as well as determination of the non-formal education. Furthermore, the focus has been laid to adult leisure education and adult citizenship education, in particular their goals, the content and forms as well as the participation of adults in the non-formal non- vocational education, the offer and institutions that provide this education. (in English): This thesis is focused on solving life situation of long-term unemployed people through further education. It's based on the current state of active employment policy and on the survey of particular adult education possibilities in the region of Hradec Králové. The actual survey will be made through questionnaires given to job seekers in the Hradec Králové region. The main objective is to answer the question: Which education forms are available to the unemployed dealing with their life situations. The thesis also aims to find out whether they are informed about these forms and whether they are interested in them. The theoretical part deals with general topics of unempoyment and adult education. The research part compiles the results of questionaires which are used to prove or disprove preset hypothesis and to make a conclusion described in the final part.

This thesis deals with possibilities of education of adults with hearing impairment in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis deals in the first chapter with the basic terminology of the branch. The second chapter focuses on communication of persons with hearing disabilities. The third chapter is devoted to problems of adult education, lifelong learning, tertiary education and also brings the greatest possible comprehensive list of organizations dealing with this issue and the current offer of education. The final chapter is devoted to the question of quality of life and the related job opportunities for these individuals. Partial objectives of this thesis is to analyze the sufficiency of existing supply of educational possibilities, the level of awareness of people with hearing disabilities about this offer and satisfaction with the applicability of the knowledge thus acquired in the labor market. "Educational institutions: business in turbulent times". Diploma thesis named "Educational institutions: business in turbulent times" is focused on actual problems concerning business of adult education institutions during the time of the turbulence. That time is being mentioned as the period during and after economic crisis, which is characterized by constant change, uncertainty and chaos. In diploma thesis there is described the impact of turbulence on the market of Czech Republic and implied paths for educational institutions to proceed in order to remain on new market environment. There are presented new concepts for management of educational institutions in terms of strategy, sales, financial and marketing. The theory is supported by taken over research regarding actual problems and trends. The main practical part of diploma thesis is econometric model, which implies the relation between investments to adult education and some macroeconomic indicators. The essential source of data for model calculation was the database of Czech statistical office. This paper concerns with blended learning and with its usage in education and development of managers. The paper brings out survey of existing approaches to blended learning and list of forms and methods which are used in this educational concept.
