Psychologické aspekty studia v zahraničí / Psychological Aspects of Studying AbroadVACKOVÁ, Petra January 2010 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is study abroad. The theoretical part presents knowledge about the process of adaptation in a new country and its culture; then it deals with acculturative and coping strategies, culture shock and its determinants and also reverse culture shock, which takes place after arrival home form a foreign country. It also introduces the age group of participants on study abroad (21 {--} 26 years old) from the developmental psychology point of view. Then it describes the already known correlation relationships between personality characteristics and some aspects of long term stays abroad. Finally, it outlines a personality profile of the ideal person for a long term study abroad. The research part informs the reader about knowledge we have found out from 3 research questionnaires that were completed by students before, during and after the experience of study abroad, and also knowledge we have gained thanks to interviews with the students. The main research areas are the following: the personality profile, changes of chosen characteristics that have taken place due to the experience of the study abroad, motivation, expectations and their fulfillment, process of culture shock and reverse culture shock.

The thesis "The social view of the impact of epilepsy on adults" is focusing on the specification of psychosomatic factors that are influencing the life of an adult with epilepsy. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the theoretical part, the disease epilepsy, diagnostic, therapy and treatment are defined, a fit of epilepsy is classified, and moreover, the first aid during the epileptic fit is described. Another part of the thesis is dedicated to description of some areas of life of the adult with epilepsy, which are bringing certain limitations to everyday life. This includes the family life and also problematic of professional life and possible job restrictions. These areas are described with regards to influences of lifestyle, medication, sleeping habits and leisure time activities on the life of a person with epilepsy. The thesis also focus on the problematic of social stigmatization, social isolation and on the list of possible psychological changes and cognitive problems of people with epilepsy, that occurs as a result of this diagnosis. The practical part of the thesis is dedicated to processing of results from conducted survey. The master thesis focuses on the literary analysis and comparison of four books for young adults written by different authors. Two of the compared works are novels Eulengesang and Carolina: Ein knapper Lebenslauf by Iva Procházková, originally a Czech author and representative of a so called migrant literature. The thesis deals also with the novel Die Wolke by Gudrun Pausewang and the short story collection Meine freie deutsche Jugend written by Claudia Rusch. The main aim of the thesis is to compare and interpret the portayal of adolescence in the chosen works. Special attention is confined to the types of characters and situations they encounter, motivation for their behaviour and last but not least, to the motives. The opening chapters present historical overview of the Czech and German young adult literature. The thesis also includes a chapter on adolescence from the scientific perspective of developmental psychology. In the conclusion, the master thesis contrasts the chosen literary works in pairs: Eulengesang with Die Wolke and Carolina: Ein knapper Lebenslauf with Meine freie deutsche Jugend.

The diploma thesis is concerned with the spiritual needs of disabled persons. The topic is based on the psychology of personality, characterizes human needs, and defines motivation, values and interests. Basic areas of psychology of religion and religious education follow. The educational view focuses on issues associated with the religiosity of human beings seeking aims for religious education. Further chapters are dedicated to disabled persons, describe basic types of such disability and based on the author´s personal experience they show the specificities of the life of disabled persons. The second part concentrates on meeting the spiritual needs. The thematic area gives rise to the methodological proposal for the didactic opening of the spiritual needs. Several didactic units containing individual lessons for a group of disabled persons form part of the thesis.
