Les affects dans la relation didactique. Une étude exploratoire en classe de sixième / The affects in the didactic relationship. An exploratory study in sixth gradeJodry, Guy 15 January 2018 (has links)
The place and role of emotions in the educational relationship are still little studied in high school.International research is mostly done on young children. The purpose of this research is to better understand how teachers and students interact in the didactic relationship. This requires understanding how students and teachers perceive, feel and understand their school experiences. Because the question remains difficult: how do students learn? In our college, professors and researchers have worked together for a long time to work together in a collective that shares the same values of education. On this basis, we conducted research on didactic events and the emotional movements of students and teachers. We document the class work by the film and a specific methodology. We first show the importance of affects in the educational experience of agents of the didactic relationship. We learn what they are sensitive to, under what conditions and with what effects. We conceive teaching and learning as a joint action and we show that the actions of teachers and pupils are intertwined with didactic emotions that guide their behaviors. Didactic affects generate positive or negative learning dynamics. And in that they allow agents to understand each other, they can exercise their power to act together in the social world.

A Comparative Study of Kalman Filter Implementations for Relative GPS NavigationFritz, Matthew Peyton 2009 December 1900 (has links)
Relative global positioning system (GPS) navigation is currently used for autonomous
rendezvous and docking of two spacecraft as well as formation
flying applications.
GPS receivers deliver measurements to
flight software that use this information
to determine estimates of the current states of the spacecraft. The success
of autonomous proximity operations in the presence of an uncertain environment
and noisy measurements depends primarily on the navigation accuracy. This thesis
presents the implementation and calibration of a spaceborne GPS receiver model, a
visibility analysis for multiple GPS antenna cone angles, the implementation of four
different extended Kalman filter architectures and a comparison of the advantages
and disadvantages of each filter used for relative GPS navigation. A spaceborne GPS
model is developed to generate simulated GPS measurements for a spacecraft located
on any orbit around the Earth below the GPS constellation. Position and velocity
estimation algorithms for GPS receivers are developed and implemented. A visibility
analysis is performed to determine the number of visible satellites throughout the
duration of the rendezvous. Multiple constant fields of view are analyzed and results
compared to develop an understanding of how the GPS constellation evolves during
the proximity operations. The comparison is used to choose a field of view with adequate
satellite coverage. The advantages and disadvantages of the relative navigation
architectures are evaluated based on a trade study involving several parameters.
It is determined in this thesis that a reduced pseudorange filter provides the best overall performance in both relative and absolute navigation with less computational
cost than the slightly more accurate pseudorange lter. A relative pseudorange architecture
experiences complications due to multipath rich environments and performs
well in only relative navigation. A position velocity architecture performs well in
absolute state estimation but the worst of the four filters studied in relative state
estimation.

Distributed Support Vector Machine With Graphics Processing UnitsZhang, Hang 06 August 2009 (has links)
Training a Support Vector Machine (SVM) requires the solution of a very large quadratic programming (QP) optimization problem. Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO) is a decomposition-based algorithm which breaks this large QP problem into a series of smallest possible QP problems. However, it still costs O(n2) computation time. In our SVM implementation, we can do training with huge data sets in a distributed manner (by breaking the dataset into chunks, then using Message Passing Interface (MPI) to distribute each chunk to a different machine and processing SVM training within each chunk). In addition, we moved the kernel calculation part in SVM classification to a graphics processing unit (GPU) which has zero scheduling overhead to create concurrent threads. In this thesis, we will take advantage of this GPU architecture to improve the classification performance of SVM.

The effectiveness of senior students as tutor assistants in the English special project for academic development at UWCWentzel, Zurina January 1992 (has links)
Magister Educationis - MEd / Since the inception of the University in 1960 under the Apartheid regime and up until a few years ago Afrikaans had dominated both as educational and as communication medium. However, political change - at the University and in South Africa - has brought about a change in language patterns. According to the HSRC Work Committee on Languages and Language Instruction (1981), a high percentage (40%) of
Afrikaans-speaking people classified as coloured and living in the Cape Peninsula choose English as the medium of instruction and also regard it as the most important language to be learnt at schools (also 40%). As a result of this, and the enrolment of a large percentage of Xhosa speaking students, who generally prefer English to Afrikaans as an educational medium, English has become the language most commonly used both inside and outside the classroom. The homogeneity of preference has, however, not been matched by mastery of the language. For approximately 70% of all first-year students English is a second or even a third language. Though University entry is based on at least ten years of the study of English, standards of proficiency differ quite considerably as a result of inequalities in education. Because students need to improve their level of English proficiency I investigated the effectiveness of using senior students as tutor assistants in an academic development programme, the English Special Project, at UWC. This study aims at revealing that the tutor assistantships in the English Special Project can alleviate problems that occur with annual increases in student numbers under certain conditions. These are that: 1 prospective tutor assistants undergo proper tutor assistant training; 2 tutor assistants are committed to the course of academic development; 3 tutor assistants have the time available that is necessary for the task. In Chapter 1 give an insight into what this study is about, the reasons for conducting it and what my personal involvement with the ESP has been. In Chapter 2 I review some of the overseas and local literature on TA systems. In Chapter 3 I describe a case-study to evaluate the success of the TA system in the ESP with reference to academic development. I emphasize the intensive, individual care of and attention to first-year students. In an attempt to address the problem, the effectiveness of senior students as tutor assistants to assist in tutorial sessions is described. In Chapter 4 I discuss the value of TA intervention in the ESP at personal and social levels. Chapter 5 contains the general conclusions and my recommendations to improve the ESP.

Circadian blood pressure within young adults in Viet Nam : An exploratory study comparing a normal blood pressure group and a prehypertension groupZahirovic, Rezak, Ekman, Scott January 2015 (has links)
Hypertension is a global disease that many effected people in developing countries is not aware of. Hypertension is linked with cardiovascular disease. Prehypertension is not a disease but if not correctly treated, it could develop into hypertension. The aim of the study was to investigate if there are any differences in circadian blood pressure between two study groups, one group with normal blood pressure and one group with prehypertension. This study was a explorative study and its design is based on measurements of blood pressure values and a questionnaire was used to help get the data collection. 51 students volunteered to have their blood pressure taken from them and out of these 51, 24 where selected into two groups of 12 each for the Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. hese 24 students would be a part of our study and an ambulatory (Schiller-102 plus) blood pressure monitor was used to collect the data. The prevalence of prehypertension findings in the clinical testing phase was 37% of the population. There was a variation between the groups during the day (systolic) but there was not a significant difference during the night.
