Belžík, Roman January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to develop a new building – a cultural and educational center, located in the town of Uherské Hradiště. The building is fitted to the central part of the city, on unused building lot, with good access to public transport links. The building is designed as a partial basement facility, with three floors and a basement. Structurally it is a column-based, skeletal support system, made of reinforced concrete. The basement part consists of bearing walls of reinforced concrete. The ceiling structure is made of locally backed, cross-reinforced slabs, also made of reinforced concrete. The outer perimeter infill masonry is constructed of ceramic bricks with a thickness of 300mm. Interior bearing walls are made of reinforced concrete of appropriate dimensions. Dividing walls are made of plasterboard constructions. Roof structures are formed by a system of flat roofs and terraces. In principle there are two types – the roofs with safety waterproofing and the ones without it. The base structure consists of footings and strips of reinforced concrete.

Radnice Brno – Sever / New town hall for the district Brno-North

Filičková, Alžbeta January 2015 (has links)
The assignment of this thesis is to design a town hall building for the Brno – Sever city district. The particular building plot is located on the site of the former military quarters in Brno – Černá pole near the Botanic Gardens and Arboretum of Mendel University, where the landscape changes to downhill. The site features a good view of the surroundings and it is convenient for the public building because of its good accessibility. A significant item of this design was to give the town hall’s scheme an added value in a form of a community educational center for the use of the inhabitants of Brno. The center includes for instance a library branch, exhibition premises and a clubroom for moms and children or for pensioners. Thanks to these public premises the town hall can be lively even during the afternoon hours.

The libraries of the Unified Educational Centres (Centros Educacionais Unificados - CEUs)

Lemos, Charlene Kathlen de 10 September 2012 (has links)
The libraries of the Unified Educational Centres (Centros Educacionais Unificados - CEUs), implemented since 2003 in the city of São Paulo, were initially celebrated as a significant achievement: first of all in terms of territorial coverage of libraries in the city. Secondly, as having a unique hybrid character, being both a public library and a school library. This work introduces and discusses the library proposed by the CEUs and observes, through the subjects, by means of a semi-structured interview, how these libraries are shaping up/ over the years, mainly in the regions of urban crises (floods, expropriations, violence, fires etc.) The analysis of the data shows evidence that the libraries can be characterized as educational, albeit not connected to the school curriculum. They are open to all community, inserted in the educational project of each CEU and concerned with the formation of a conscient citizen. With courses of action that allow for the conception of a library that is not just hybrid but also plural, furnishing several diffrent types of knowledge and therefore expanding the scope of its action. We have observed, on the part of some of the subjects involved with the library and particularly the librarians; the intention of creating bonds with the community without, however, ignoring the problems of the periphery. They were key players in the elaboration of specific library projects, poviding the necessary opportunities for people to circulate in the world of information and culture.
