Výskyt střevních parazitů u hovězího dobytka s různým způsobem chovu / Occurence of intestinal parasites in various cattle herds

The aim of this work was to determine prevalence of intestinal parasites in chosen farms and to compare the assessed levels. A total of 250 samples were collected from tree farms (88, 84 and 78). Farm 1 used binding stable of K 96 type without pasture, farm 2 used combibox stable technology and the cows were pastured during non lacting period, in the farm 3, the cows were pastured during their lactation period with approach in loose housing. The work focused on two groups of parasites: genus Eimeria (its overall prevalence was 10 %) and the family Trichostrongylida(13.6 %). In the individual farms, Eimeria reached prevalence of 7.9, 8.3 and 16.7 %, respectively. Trichostrongylids were present in 1.1, 14.3 and 24.4 % of samples in the respective farms. On farm 2, Trichuris and Strongyloides papilosus were also found (each only once). On farm 3, bunostomosis was diagnosed in two cases. The intesities of infections were very low in all cases. The possible correlation of parasitoses and age / performance of animals was assessed with the use of ?2 test, the correlation was however not demonstrated.

O estudo teve como objetivo identificar as espécies de protozoários do gênero Eimeria que parasitam búfalos, assim como verificar a presença de espécies patogênicas e suas frequências através de exames coproparasitários, além de acompanhar a evolução do parasitismo nos bezerros e nas búfalas adultas durante o ano. Foram analisadas fezes de dois lotes (um lote por ano de experimento) de 18 bezerros búfalos do nascimento aos 365 dias de idade, de ambos os sexos e suas respectivas mães, criados na Fazenda de Ensino e Pesquisa (FEP) da Unesp- Campus das espécies de Eimeria spp. foi feita através das características morfomicrométricas de Ilha Solteira no município de Selvíria- MS. A identificação dos oocistos esporulados. Os bezerros búfalos iniciaram o parasitismo patente entre os 6 a 29 dias de idade com a maior concentração de eliminação de oocistos nas fezes de 188 a 292 dias de vida. As búfalas adultas não eliminaram oocistos nas fezes em nenhuma época do ano, e mesmo entre os bezerros infectados não houve manifestação de sintomatologia clínica característica de coccidiose. Observou-se em ambos os anos analisados, que o maior índice parasitário ocorreu durante o período chuvoso, ou seja de setembro a janeiro nos dois anos (2000 e 2001). As espécies identificadas foram as seguintes: E. ellipsoidalis, E. zuernii, E. auburnensis, E. brasiliensis, E. alabamensis e E.cylindrica. As espécies prevalecentes foram E. ellipsoidalis e E. cylindrica que predominavam nos animais mais jovens (6 a 133 dias). Expression of Digestive Enzymes and Nutrient Transporters in the Intestine of Eimeria-challenged Chickens

Avian coccidiosis is caused by the intestinal protozoa Eimeria. The parasite"s site of infection in the intestine is site specific. Eimeria acervulina infects the duodenum, E. maxima the jejunum, and E. tenella the ceca. Lesions in the intestinal mucosa cause reduced feed efficiency and body weight gain in Eimeria-challenged chickens. The growth reduction may be due to changes in expression of digestive enzymes and nutrient transporters in the intestine. The objective of this thesis was to examine the expression of digestive enzymes: APN and SI, peptide and amino acid transporters: Pept1, ASCT1, bo,+AT/rBAT, B0AT, CAT1/2, EAAT3, LAT1 and y+LAT1/2, sugar transporters: GLUT1, GLUT2, GLUT5 and SGLT1, mineral transporter: ZNT1 and an immune factor: LEAP2 in the duodenum, jejunum, ileum and ceca of Eimeria-challenged layers and broilers. Comparisons were made between E. acervulina-challenged layers and broilers and E. acervulina, E. maxima and E. tenella-challenged broilers to examine the effect of chicken breeds and Eimeria species, respectively, on digestive enzymes and nutrient transporter expression. E. acervulina-challenged layers and broilers showed downregulation of APN, bo,+AT/rBAT, B0AT, CAT2, EAAT3, GLUT2, SI, ZNT1 and LEAP2 in the duodenum, but not in the jejunum and ileum. E. acervulina-challenged duodenum, E. maxima-challenged jejunum and E. tenella-challenged ceca samples showed common downregulation of APN, GLUT5 and ZNT1. These results demonstrate that there are common changes in intestinal gene expression in response to E. acervulina in broilers and layers, and common changes in response to challenge by different Eimeria species in broilers. / Master of Science
