Příroda v románech Cormaca McCarthyho / Nature in Cormac McCarthy's NovelsKOVÁŘOVÁ, Kateřina January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine the topic of nature in novelistic oeuvre of American author Cormac McCarthy. This thesis pursues all ten novels, which are divided into three sections according to the region they are associated with. Ecocriticism was chosen as an approach; therefore, the first chapter deals with a short introduction to this interdisciplinary field. The aim of this thesis is to prove that the nature is a core aspect in Cormac McCarthy's novels, the significance of which lays both in description of American spaces and an ecological appeal on transformation of the anthropocentric perspective on the environment.

Reflexe environmentálních problémů v české poválečné próze / Reflection of environmental issues in czech post-war proseZachystalová, Linda January 2018 (has links)
The focus of this diploma thesis is the reflection of environmental issues as reflected in post-war Czech prose. I'm doing so through several titles which were chosen on the basis of my resarch. Firstly I introduced their environmental content and character, then I juxtaposed these titles through hermeneutic approach. The comparison brought up several motives and characteristics these titles have in common, I also described which environmental issues are presented, and how they are depicted in these text. I put an emphasis on the context of the observed period (especially the political situation) in which these texts were created. This context is also presented in the chapter about environmental situation on the Czech territory and in the chapter focused on the historical course of Czech post-war prose. I'm introducing an ecocriticism as a part of a literary science and discussing the reception of environmenal issues in Czech prose in general. Key words Czech post-war prose, environmental issue, hermeneutics, ecocriticism

Reflexe environmentální krize v současné české poezii / Reflection of the Environmental Crisis in Contemporary Czech PoetryPanušková, Charlotte January 2021 (has links)
(in English): In this diploma thesis I am dealing with Czech (and by extension Slovak) environmental poetry. Particularly in Anglo-Saxon world, the environmental poetry (poetry that reacts on the current environmental situation) is well-established. This type of poetry has emerged just few years ago in Czech literary scene, and is still waiting for its stable position. One of the main reasons why this type of poetry emerged in Czech literary scene was a call přírodnílyrika.cz from 2019. It created a literary momentum and started a debate whether poets should thematize contemporary problems. Even though the poetry collections seem distinct and diverse, they have some common elements. This diploma thesis is mapping these environmental poetry collections and contextualizing them into wider poetry history.

Kánon zelené literatury? Co, jak a proč čtou "pestří a zelení". / A green canon? What, how and why "the colourful and the green" read.Dosoudilová, Anna January 2013 (has links)
The thesis is based on questionnaire survey conducted among 136 so called "green and colourful" respondents. The term "the colourful and the green" comes from the professor of environmental sociology, Hana Librová, and refers to people living the ecologically beneficial lifestyle that can be characterized by voluntary or intentional modesty. The target of the survey was to find out whether these people are influenced in their lifestyle by books or which books would articulate their worldview the best; what books they resonate with. Often repeated titles formed a "green influential literary canon" that is further analyzed in the thesis. First, the canon as a whole is examined, second the three most frequent books are studied with an ecocritical approach. In the canon, a minimum titles from the field of deep ecology, nature writing as well as science fiction or utopia were registered. Despite the expectation, there were many books related to New Age movement in the canon as well as pop-cultural spiritual writings. Nevertheless, books concerning native americans, together with eco- philosophical works largely dominated. Functions that the publications fulfill for the readers are seen as a clamp of diverse books in the canon. There are three main functions defined and further explained:...
