The dissertation deals with the exploration of the Czech rural family as an ecosystem. The family ecosystem includes a summary of family member interactions with each other, as well as interaction with other natural or socio-cultural systems. Nowadays, the families differ considerably in their arrangement, size, style of family life and other characteristics. These differences are much greater between cities and rural areas, and so are the differences in different countries. The aim of the dissertation was to determine the significant characteristics of the life of Czech families in the country in international comparison. A sociological survey was conducted in the South Moravian Region. The questionnaire survey was also conducted in Ukraine for comparison. International comparisons have also been made using knowledge from the European Social Probe. The paper noted the differences in family life between cities and the countryside, consisting, among other things, in different housing and service conditions and closer family relations in the countryside. The differences between family life in the Czech Republic and Ukraine seem to depend on the different rates of unemployment and the significantly greater conservatism of Ukrainian rural life.

Currently, the importance of renewable energy sources (RES) is much higher than before. Among the most important RES we rank biomass, which consists of more than half of produced energy from renewable sources. Using biomass increases the utilization of wood fuels and greater emphasis is placed on their processing requirements. The purpose of this study is to assess the ecological parameters that affect the use of wood chips for energy purposes, based on a comparison of existing norms and standards. The first part is focused on theoretical use of wood waste and subsequent utilization of therefrom made fuel. Subsequently there is evaluated the use of fuel for energy purposes in practice. The work also includes examining factors (calorific value, humidity, etc.) affecting the quality of biofuels in different seasons. The contribution of this work is to document the flow of wood waste, proving the benefits of recycling wood waste and recommendation for action in the future.

Urban environments provide suitable habitats for species that are ready to adapt to the specific conditions. One of such species is Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus) that has adapted to the Prague city environment. This dissertation explores and describes selected aspects of sparrowhawks ecology in urban and rural environment. It focuses on comparison of selected aspects of sparrowhawk ecology between urban and rural study areas.
