Circular Entrepreneurship in Practice : Exploring embeddedness during circular venture creation in Sweden

Färber, Laura Sophie, Ianni, Daria January 2024 (has links)
Exploring circular entrepreneurship and its disruptive approach to resource use is crucial in order to challenge the prevailing linear economic model and promote sustainable development in business and society. By examining circular entrepreneurship through the theoretical lenses of entrepreneurship as practice (EaP) and embeddedness, this study aims to shed light on the process of venture creation and the key role of entrepreneurial practices in it. Focusing on the initial stages of circular venture creation, we investigate how entrepreneurs build and leverage embeddedness through diverse everyday practices performed to both become embedded and draw resources from their networks and environment. Through a qualitative analysis based on semi-structured interviews conducted with circular entrepreneurs in Sweden, the study aims to advance an understanding of the dynamic interplay between embeddedness and entrepreneurial practices, offering nuanced insights into their mutual influence. Our findings contribute both theoretically and practically to the under-researched field of circular entrepreneurship, highlighting the relevance of embeddedness in the process of circular venture creation and advancing a practical understanding of how circular ventures successfully emerge.
