Problematika náboru pacientů do klinických hodnocení / Patients'Recruitment Issues in Clinical Trials

This thesis examines patient recruitment in clinical trials. It is a current and pressing issue, which is not sufficiently embedded in the thinking of doctors and patients, their patterns of communication, and more broadly in the traditional doctor-patient relationship, which continues to be burdened by post-socialist paternalism. The formal framework and ethics have been developed relatively recently, and their application causes confusion to all participants regarding how to proceed in specific situations. In addition, the choice of topic, and especially the form of dealing with the topic, was motivated by the relative lack of academic resources and publications in the field. The theoretical section of the thesis defines clinical research and its phases, and introduces basic terminology and documents closely linked to clinical research. In addition, it focuses on research ethics, thoroughly examining the issue of informed consent - a fundamental document necessary for recruiting a patient in a clinical trial. Finally, one chapter of the thesis focuses on the issue of medical literacy, the level of which is integral to the participants' understanding of the importance of clinical research, and directly affects participants' decision-making. The topic of the present thesis is professional ethics in interpreting. The thesis consists of two main parts - a theoretical part and empirical research. The theoretical part first defines ethics in terms of philosophy and introduces some key subject- related concepts. Subsequently, it focuses on professional ethics and characterizes the main documents that set out desirable standards of conduct within a certain profession - codes of ethics and codes of conduct. This general introduction is then followed by an overview of research into ethics in interpreting studies, and a brief outline of the history of codes of ethics for interpreters. The following chapters discuss ethical challenges in different interpreting settings and briefly introduce major Czech and foreign professional organizations of interpreters. The core of the theoretical part compares ten selected codes of ethics of different Czech and international professional interpreters organizations; based on this comparison, basic rights and obligations of interpreters are identified and further analysed in the empirical part. Diploma thesis deals with ethics in social work with people suffering from schizophrenia. The theoretical part describes ethics and professional ethics, ethic dilemmas and their methods of solution. Diploma thesis recounts the schizophrenia and methods of treatment. Diploma thesis is concerned with social work, its merits and roles of social worker. The thesis attends to social services which are offered to people suffering from schizophrenia. The aim of the practical part is to discover what dilemmas social workers solve and how they solve them in social services for people suffering from schizophrenia. The information was made by method focus group. I formulated recommendations from analysis and interpretation of information which can ethance the preparedness of social workers how suitable solve ethics dilemmas. Etická dilemata procesu transformace pobytového zařízení sociální péče / Ethical dilemmas of process transformation of residential social care facility

The thesis deals with ethical dilemmas that the author identified during the process of transformation of residency social care facilities. The aim of the work is to theoretically describe dilemmas identified and subsequently outline the procedure for their solution. The aim of the core part of the work, where is selected dilemma discussed using two ethical theories, is to point out the way these theories can help to solve the ethical dilemmas. The work is divided into five parts, the first of which defines the concepts, the process of transformation and the specifics of the target group of persons with mental disabilities. In the second part emphasises the role of the social worker in dealing with ethical dilemmas and the author generally deals with ethical problems and dilemmas from several points of view and addresses the question of responsibility of a social worker for the ethically-based decision in the specific situation of transformation. The third section describes the specific ethical dilemmas that have been identified during the transformation process, including identifying possible solutions. In the fourth part is the one selected ethical dilemma discussed with the aid of two ethical theories, deontology and consequentialism. In the final fifth part, the discussion, is thinking about benefits and the real possibilities of using ethical theories in social work practice and their meaningful link.

Etická dilemata sociálních pracovníků při práci s obětí domácího násilí / Ethical dilemmas of social workers working with victim of domestic violence

The thesis deals with the topic of ethical dilemmas of social workers who meet the victims of domestic violence in their practice. The thesis is theoretical in nature, supplemented with research. The first chapter is devoted to the topic of domestic violence, it especially describes specifics of social work with the target group and points to the possible causes of formation of the dilemmas when working with clients. The second part of the diploma theses shortly defines the concept of ethical dilemma and its place in the social work practise. There are also mentioned examples of possible dilemmas in social work. In this part the final theses draws particularly from the authors L. Musil, S. Banks, D. Nedělníková and M. Nečasová. Major part of the second chapter occupies with concrete ethical dilemmas that relate to social work with victims of domestic violence and with their detailed description. The ethic dilemmas were identified on the basis of research made with eight social workers. A semi-structured interview completed by observation was chosen as the method. The last chapter introduces the ethical theories of deontology, utilitarianism and care ethics. It points to the importance and benefit of ethical theories for practise of social work in general and for social workers themselves. Two chosen ethical dilemmas, identified on the basis of research, are reflected from a position of ethical approaches mentioned above.

First two captures of the dissertation´s theoretical part deals with socially- juridical children protection in Czech Republic. Closer look into the history, legislative moorage and scheduler task safeguard. The separated area is devoted to operational workers in socially-juridical children protection of the Civil Service system. Third chapter offers brief look into ethical subject in social - work. Attention is especially devoted to ethical propositions and ethical dilemmas. Practical part contains presentation of a questionnaire survey from Council of the Pilsner region, where socially-jurisprudent workers took part in. Its target was to discover what role plays ethical aspects in activities of these social workers. Investigation should bring an answer for the question if ethical aspects are consider to be important for socially-juridical operational workers and if operational workers uses them and are methodically dedicated to them and if not, what it could be the cause.

The dissertation is oriented (focuses) on the question of the necessity or the suitability of codes of ethics for ambulance services (Emergency Ambulance Services and Non- emergency patient transport services).
