Civilsamhället i Ryssland : En fallstudie om hur den ryska staten förhåller sig till civilsamhället.Eriksson, Leif, Hedlund, Fredrik January 2005 (has links)

When Vladimir Putin in the year 2000 came to power in Russia many believed that the Russian civil society were weak and had very little influence and with Putin people say that the situation have deteriorated. The purpose of this paper is to establish what kind of relationship exists between the Russian state and the civil society and to analyze this from a top-down perspective. We are looking at Russia during Putins first term in office from the year 2000 until 2004. In order to establish the relationship we have used John S. Dryzeks theory of inclusive and exclusive state and whether it’s active or passive in this process. The method used in this paper is a qualitative case study design. We concluded that the Russian state is an exclusive state rather then an inclusive one. When it comes to establish if the state is active or passive is more difficult but we feel that it’s more of a passive state then active.

Examining factors affecting the safety performance and design of exclusive truck facilitiesIragavarapu, Vichika 15 May 2009 (has links)
Many state agencies consider exclusive truck facilities to be an alternative to
handle the safety and operational issues due to the increasing truck volumes. No such
facilities exist, and there are no standard tools or procedures for measuring safety
performance of an exclusive truck facility. This thesis aims at identifying factors that
affect truck crashes, whose results could be used for better designing exclusive truck
facilities. To accomplish the objectives of this thesis, five years’ roadway and crash data
for Texas was collected to develop a comprehensive crash database. Negative binomial
regression models were used to establish a relationship between truck crashes and various
environmental, geometric and traffic variables. Separate models were developed for
truck-related (involving at least one truck and another vehicle), truck-only (two trucks or
more) and single-truck crashes. The results suggested that the percentage of trucks in
Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT), classification of the roadway (Rural/Urban),
posted speed limit, surface condition, alignment and shoulder width are associated with
truck crashes. It was observed that truck-related and truck-only crashes decreased as the
percentage of trucks increased on freeway facilities. Based on conclusions derived from
the literature review and statistical analyses, straight segments with wider shoulders and
uniform grades are recommended for exclusive truck facilities. It is also recommended to
provide ramps, horizontal and vertical curvature and signing based on truck size, driver
eye height, braking ability and maneuverability. These models were developed using
mixed-flow traffic data to understand the association of various factors with truck
crashes. These models should not be used directly to estimate or predict truck crashes.
Further analysis with more detailed data under different flow conditions might help in
quantifying the safety performance of exclusive truck facilities.

Feeding Practices and Nutritional Status of Infants in Northwest NigeriaEnwere, Michael Enyi 01 January 2019 (has links)
Infants and young children in the Northwest province of Nigeria are susceptible to malnutrition. Inappropriate and inadequate breastfeeding and complementary feeding result in stunting, underweight, and wasting. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine current feeding practices of infants not older than 2 years and their nutritional status in Northwest Nigeria. The theory of planned behavior was adopted in this research. With a total sample size of 3,861, multiple linear regression was adopted as a predictive analysis to delineate the correlation between two or more independent variables and one continuous dependent variable. Also, adopted was an independent t test to demonstrate the statistical difference between the mean of the dependent variable and that of the independent variable. The coefficient of determination (R2) indicated that the change in underweight associated with exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) was 8.1%. The overall regression model was significant, F(18, 879) = 4.29, p < .05, adj. R2 = .06 predicted underweight in infants under 6 months of age. The coefficient of determination (R2) indicated that the changes in underweight associated with age appropriate complementary (CP) feeding was 8.0%. The overall regression model was significant, F(18, 2,944) = 14.29, p < .05, adj. R2 = .08. The model predicted underweight in infants 624 months of age. The results from this study can be used in the reinforcement of EBF and age appropriate CP guidelines and policies by the extension of paid leave, implementing flexibility in working hours, and private space to breastfeed.

Effect of Multiple Skin-to-Skin Experiences on Exclusive Breastfeeding RatesHorst, Joanna Horst 01 January 2017 (has links)
Breastmilk feeding at birth demonstrates short- and long-term medical and neurodevelopmental advantages. Infants who are exclusively breastfed demonstrate less nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, and they experience less upper respiratory and ear infections than do infants who are not breastfed. One strategy that supports breastfeeding initiation is providing skin-to-skin contact (STS) with mothers and newborns immediately upon birth. The purpose of this project was to evaluate the impact of a second session of STS on the postpartum unit on exclusive breastfeeding rates at discharge. A retrospective comparison design using Swanson's caring model was used to guide the evaluation study that examined and compared the rate of exclusive breastfeeding before and after the new model of care was implemented. The historical controls rate included all delivered women in a 3-month period who expressed a desire to exclusively breastfeed and who had one session of STS. In this group, the exclusive breastfeeding rates were 46% at discharge. After the practice change, the 75 women who expressed a desire to exclusively breastfeed and who had the second session of STS demonstrated exclusive breastfeeding rates of 72% at discharge. The increased rate of exclusive breastfeeding and the promotion of newborn health represent a major contribution to positive social change through the introduction of a second session of STS. The extension of the STS practice from only the immediate postdelivery setting to the postpartum setting provides a contribution to nursing practice that can be shared in any birth or similar practice setting.
