<p>Introduction: Pain is a subjective experience. People subjected to pain often experience a reducedquality of life. Chronic pain is pain that has been going on for at least three</p><p>months.</p><p>Problem area: People with chronic pain are subjected to unnecessary suffering and disability. Therefore it is crucial that the nursing staff takes their situation seriously.</p><p>Purpose: The purpose of the study was to describe the patient's’ experiences and apprehension</p><p>of living with chronic non-malignant pain, and how this affected their everydaylife.</p><p>Method: Systematic analysis of 23 depicting articles. The databases used were Medline via PubMed and Sience Direct. The text in the chosen articles was categorized on the</p><p>basis of content.</p><p>Result: The study showed that people subjected to chronic pain feel that their everyday life</p><p>is very limited. They dealt with pain differently, according to their life situation. Many of them had a feeling of loss and they thought had lost something in their life.</p><p>Discussion/conclusion: Living with chronic pain brings significant changes to the sufferers everyday life. It is crucial that they receive sufficient support by people around them and their nursing staff to function in everyday life.</p>
