Znalosti žáků středních škol v oblasti poskytování první pomoci ve vybrané lokalitě Jihočeského kraje / Knowledge od secondary school pupils in the field of first aid in a selected locality of the South Bohemian regionPETROVIČ, Pavel January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis was compiled on the topic of first aid. First aid is always actual problem, which needs attention. It is suitable to start with the first aid education at a very young age and throughout the years add more difficult situations first aid in CBRNE substance attack, first aid in extraordinary situations (floods, car accidents with a big number of injured). The aim of the thesis was to find out the knowledge of the pupils in secondary schools about providing the first aid, and subsequent comparation of the results between secondary medical school and other, nonmedical schools. The knowledge of the first aid was found out by means of questionnaires. In this statistical research were involved 400 pupils form 5 secondary schools in the South Bohemian region, including one secondary medical school. The questionnaires were evaluated and processed. To verify the hypotheses, x2 test of a good match was used (to verify the normality) and a t-test was used as well, to verify zero and alternative hypotheses. The pupils of secondary medical school reached in questioning research better results than pupils of nonmedical schools. Therefore it was possible to accept set hypotheses. The secondary schools, which took part in the statistical research, were provided with a feedback. This diploma thesis could serve as a study material, eventually also as a motive for other qualification theses. According to my opinion, a thesis about knowledge of pedagogues about providing the first aid would be beneficial.

Characteristics of Effective Communication About Mental Health in an African American Urban Community: A Qualitative AnalysisPorter, Jeannette 01 January 2014 (has links)
Research has shown African Americans experience mental health issues at the same rate as the general population but seek treatment at only one-third that rate. Eleven African American low-income urban community leaders with basic training in mental health issues were interviewed about their perceptions of African American patterns of communication on mental health issues. Findings included a general consensus that the topic is generally not discussed, although passing references to a party’s perceived mental illness may be made using humor. When such discussion does take place, it happens only in a “safe space” with a trusted dialogue partner. Non-verbal cues are an important element of these conversations, as are non-judgmental, attentive and purposeful listening. The participants report that community members who did not receive the basic mental health training speak with great disparagement of those they perceive to be mentally ill.

Using an Instructional Package to Teach Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Automated External Defibrillator to College Students with Developmental DisabilitiesUnknown Date (has links)
Adults with developmental disabilities may not learn the safety skills needed to
maintain the safety of those within their communities. Basic life-saving skills are valued
by community members and increase independent and integrated living and employment
opportunities. This study used an instructional package consisting of modeling, task
analysis, and simultaneous prompting to teach college students with developmental
disabilities a basic life-saving skill, specifically how to perform cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR) with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Phase 1
of the study used the instructional package to teach the students to perform CPR. Once
mastered, Phase 2 of the study taught students to use an AED, incorporating it into the
CPR chain. Results showed that the students’ accuracy with the tasks increased after the
introduction of the instructional package, generalized to a novel environment, and
maintained once the instructional package was removed. Implications and future
research are discussed. / Includes bibliography. / Dissertation (Ph.D.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2018. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection

San Pedro S.A. : Taking the first step to a safer work environmentÖlund, Fredrik January 2006 (has links)
As a part of improving the production, the Bolivian door manufacturer San Pedro S.A. needs to develop their level of industrial safety. Today their safety level is considered to be almost non-existing. Together with CADEFOR, San Pedro wishes for a handbook that show them how to work with industrial safety, how to implement it and were to begin. Much needs to be done at San Pedro and the task has been to show both them and CADEFOR which parts San Pedro need to focus on to increase the overall safety. It is considered important that they chose to start with the most crucial areas but the aim is that they will, during a period of time, attend to all problem areas mentioned. The first thing San Pedro needs to do is to form an aim for the safety work. This means setting up a policy and routines for the ongoing work. Secondly they should start working with improving the fire security, informing the personal about the risks they are exposed to. Further they should educate attendants in first aid, use the protection on the machines available and create a better luminosity environment.

Effects Of Different Instructional Methods And Time On Students& / #8217 / Cognitive, Affective, And Psychomotor Behaviors Of First AidSarac, Leyla 01 September 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Many research studies have shown that first aid education is important to save lives of individuals, but first aid skills are deficient in a society. A variety of instructional methods were introduced to increase the people who are equipped with first aid skills. However, it is still a debate over the best method of teaching first aid. Therefore, this dissertation aimed to analyze the effects of various instructional methods (traditional, case-based and web-based) on acquisition and retention of first aid cognitive, psychomotor and affective behaviors. Ninety participants (52 female, 48 male) included in the study were the second (n=3), the third (n=44), and the fourth (n=43) year students selecting first aid as an elective course at Middle East Technical University. As the course student list built up for those who would take the course, they were assigned to one of the three groups randomly before the treatment started: Group I-Traditional instruction (30 students), Group II-Case-based instruction (30 students), and Group III-Web-based instruction (30 students). Data were collected by using First Aid Cognitive Behavior Test, First Aid Psychomotor Behavior Tests (skill reporter manikin and skill checklist), First Aid Affective Behavior Scale, and qualitative interviews. All students in each instruction group were tested three times Statistical analyses included the Mixed Factorial ANOVA to examine the effects of independent variables (instructional methods and time) on dependent variables (first aid cognitive, psychomotor and affective behaviors). Results showed that instructional method had similar effect on students& / #8217 / first aid cognitive behaviors. However, students& / #8217 / in traditional instruction group got higher scores compared to case-based and web-based instruction groups in retention test. In terms of first aid psychomotor behaviors, CPR performance, including chest compressions and ventilations, of web-based instruction group was poor compared to traditional and case-based instruction groups. Similarly, CPR and Recovery Position performance was deprived in web-based instruction group. Retention time negatively affected to psychomotor behaviors of students in most of the skills. In terms of first aid affective behaviors, students& / #8217 / scores were affected by characteristics of the casualty, characteristics of the first aider, characteristics of the event, and some other factors, however mean scores of students in three instruction groups were close to the no effect preference in the first aid affective behavior scale.
