Considera-se de especial interesse reconhecer o perfil de fragilidade associado às enfermidades crônicas de maior prevalência na população idosa, em vista dos efeitos deletérios dessa associação. Neste trabalho buscou-se traçar o perfil de idosos frágeis assistidos em ambulatório de referência quanto às comorbidades e uso de medicamentos. Utilizaram-se os critérios de Fried etal. (2001) relacionando-os aos diagnósticos de doenças crônicas confirmadas, bem como aos medicamentos efetivamente utilizados em 151 idosos assistidos no Ambulatório de Geriatria do Hospital de Clínicas da Unicamp, ao longo do período de dois anos. Para estudar os fatores associados com a presença de fragilidade foi feita a análise de regressão logística univariada e multivariada. Verificou-se associação com fragilidade para diagnóstico de doenças do aparelho respiratório (p = 0,043) e uso de fármacos para o sistema cardiovascular (p = 0,036). Mesmo que esse estudo não tenha permitido uma associação do tipo causa - efeito, pode-se verificar que as doenças do aparelho respiratório e os fármacos que atuam no aparelho cardiocirculatório podem se relacionar à condição de fragilidade, contribuindo para a manutenção ou acentuação da mesma / Abstract: The frail elders are more exposed to adverse clinical events. It is considered of special interest to recognize the profile of fragility associated with higher prevalence of chronic diseases among the aged population, considering the deleterious effect of this association. This study intended to trace the profile of frail elderly who are attended in a reference outpatient service considering the associated diseases and the use of medicines. The criteria of Fried etal. (2001) had been used in association with the diagnosis of confirmed chronic diseases, as well as the effectively used medicines in 151 elders of the Geriatric Outpatients Service of the Clinic Hospital of the State University of Campinas (Brazil), throughout the period of two years. It was used the univariate and multivariate logistic regression to study the factors associated with the fragility syndrome. It was verified association between fragility and the diagnosis of chronic respiratory diseases (p = 0.043) and with the use of medicines for cardiovascular system (p = 0.036). Even if the study had not found a cause - effect association it was verified that the chronic respiratory diseases and the use of medicines for cardiovascular system can be related to fragility condition, as they contribute to maintain or to increase this morbid condition / Mestrado / Gerontologia / Mestra em Gerontologia
