Diploma thesis gender differences in economic and social role in the country deals with the differences between men and women's status in the household, gender segregation disciplines, division of roles in the household, and points to the fact that men and women are constantly ascribed certain roles, which make evaluation and occupation of vz the employability in the labor market. The work is divided into theoretical part, which explains the basic concepts of gender issues and a practical part, where based on the survey were verified basic objectives and hypotheses.

Genderové rozdíly ve zdrojích osobní pohody / Gender differences in sources of well being

The thesis deals with gender differences in sources of well-being, focusing on two currently the most significant concepts, subjective well-being (SWB) and psychological well- being (PWB). Attention is paid to the personality correlates of both concepts - personality traits, identity-styles, self-esteem, personal values and coping strategies. In the empirical part we explored the relationships of the studied phenomena on university student sample. The correlations of SWB and personality sources have been found to be weaker than those of the PWB concept, yet both concepts show similar trends in measurements. As expected, women have achieved a higher level of well-being in both concepts. However, the results of examining gender differences have shown, in several cases, a more significant relationship between personal sources of PWB among men. In this case, significantly stronger positive correlation between PWB and extraversion, self-esteem, active coping has been confirmed, likewise significantly stronger negative correlation between PWB and conformity and higher order value, conservation. The results are discussed considering their limits and implications for further research.

Career choice in education and the acquired/achieved level of education are factors that influence social status of men and women. Despite the fact that women, on average, currently achieve a higher level of education than men, women's marketplace status and their height of salary often do not correspond to it. One of the reasons is a low proportion of women in mathematics-related subjects. The aim of this research was to investigate the role of gender stereotypes and identification with mathematics in career choice. In the theoretical part of this thesis, I introduce the basic terms related to gender and gender stereotypes, the role gender plays in institutions and the potential causes of gender differences in the performance in mathematics. In the empirical part, I analyse data from a questionnaire study investigating career choice, level of identification with mathematics, attitudes to courses in the curriculum and the level of gender stereotypes in Czech adolescents. The results suggest few differences between girls and boys in these areas. However, the level of identification with mathematics and the level of gender stereotypes in the career area are related to the educational career choice.

Gender stereotypes and the prejudices associated with them are a frequently discussed issue in the society as well as in the academic world. Even though there is certain evidence of the changes in the media presentation of masculine and feminine roles, the stereotypical illustration of men and women still persists and the media have a significant impact on gender socialisation (Renzetti, Curran, 2003). TV advertising is a typical example of a media format presenting masculine and feminine genders unequally. This thesis examines this assumption focusing on the TV advertising of cars. I also follow-up on my bachelor thesis in which I dealt with the gender stereotypes in the TV advertising for children. In the research background and theory I concentrate on the general understanding of the biological and social views of gender, gender development and gender socialisation. I also provide a short introduction to the media as well as TV advertising theory. Masters thesis "Analysis of perception of gender roles" describes opinions of current society on status of men and women. The objective of the diploma thesis is to gain information about how people perceive gender roles and gender stereotypes. It is very important to discover whether today society still follow gender stereotypes. The theoretical part focuses on description of gender history from period of industry revolution to the present. Furthermore, it defines and deeply describes gender roles and stereotypes and indicates results of several researches that focused on gender issue. The empirical part analyses results of questionnaire survey which was discovering perception of gender roles on a conscious level of human. Second part of the empirical analysis, unstructured interviews and projective techniques, such as test of unfinished sentences and implicit association test, which examined perspectives on this issue in relation to subconsciousness. The conclusion evaluates and compares results of each method used in this paper and deduces verdicts specifically attitudes of current society.

Genderově stereotypní optika ve výchově několika pražských rodin / "Gender stereotyped optics in upbringing of several Prague's families"

This thesis deals with the issue of gender stereotypes in the context of parental upbringing. This paper is based on qualitative research and analysis of eleven semi- structured interviews with parents who bring up at least two children of different sex. I focus on the relation between identified gender stereotypes in upbringing and parenting style. I also focus on gender stereotyped attitudes of fathers and mothers within individual families. On the basis of the interviews analysis I conclude that gender stereotypes in upbringing and overall optics of gender stereotypes are present in all families, regardless of parenting style. I am finding that differences among families with diverse parenting styles are primarily in the degree of awareness of gender stereotyped attitudes and the degree of active transmission of these attitudes to their children.

Thesis called "Women in Sports Media: Gender, Professional Identity, Power" is a qualitative analysis of self-perception by women journalists in sports media. Using semi- structured interviews with women journalists working in sports newsrooms, the self-perception picture was created through personal experience. The goal was to uncover the way women sport journalists talk about their profession. This thesis attempts to identify presence of gender aspects, that can have an influence over women journalists through their personal experience. Analysis also focuses on the degree of (un)satisfaction in professional life and tries to identify reasons, that cause the (un)satisfaction. Interest is also put on individual wishes and dreams in profession and questions about the future of sports journalism and women in sports journalism.

Hlavním cílém této diplomové práce bylo analyzovat současnou situaci žen ve vyšším managementu ve vybraných společnostech s hlavním zaměřením na Českou republiku. Dále prozkoumat baríery, kterým ženy čelí pří jejich cestě na manažerské pozice a poskytnout doporučení budoucím manažerkám. Tato práce se skládá ze dvou částí a to části teoretické a praktické. V první části jsou analyzovány teoretické pojmy spojené s termínem gender, současná situace žen v managementu a ženský styl vedení. Praktická část diplomové práce je rozdělěna na dvě další části. V první části jsou provedeny rozhovory s ženami z vyššího managementu, které pocházejí z různých společností. V druhé části je tato problematika analyzována z pohledu odborníku ze společnosti Hays Česká republika.
