Spigolon, Nima Imaculada, 1971- 14 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Sonia Giubilei / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Educação / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-14T13:02:28Z (GMT). / Abstract: The present research brings Elza Freire to light and exposes the debates and considerations about the results of the scientific investigation, whose main objective was to identify her contribution and show her influence onto Brazilian Education and particularly to Adults Literacy. Hence, through the analysis of her personal and professional trajectory, the historical, cultural and socio-political context was sought to be understood. Considering that for us Elza Freire inserts herself in a topmost purpose, the period from 1916 to 1965 is shown in this dissertation. From her marriage to Paulo Freire in 1944, the search gets another dimension; under this aspect of the study, we demonstrate the theory formulated by us, like Cohabitation Pedagogy which were founded basis for the "method" developed and "theories" put by Paulo Freire, enabling structure, rationale and consolidation of experiences with adults, which brings us back to the genesis of Education in Brazil, with emphasis on the participation of Elza and systematizing generated words. As work methodology we adopted a survey of resources, including the bibliographic material to the description and analysis of the manuscripts made by Elza, using the contribution of qualitative approach and finally, the semi-organized interview techinique through narratives. . The contributions of the qualitative approach were used and structured in na inductive logic. We decided to arrange those decades in chronological order explaining the historical essay by using iconographic sources, which could enable movement and meaning between the facts and fragments, since Elza is the subject who sets and represents the transience of this research. Interim considerations point to the emergence of categories "Elzanianas' accompanied by her biography, we find in her academic and professional activities, information that formed the intellectual and educator, basing her pedagogicpolitical practice innovative and avant-garde, whose critically - solidarity consolidated and deployed in support of humanity, especially to identify Elza's participation in Paulo Freire's thoughts and practices apprehending her legacy to the Brazilian Education. / Mestrado / Administração e Supervisão Educacional / Mestre em Educação

Rigidité symplectique et EDPs hamiltoniennes / Symplectic rigidity and Hamiltonian PDEs

Bustillo, Jaime 02 July 2018 (has links)
We study symplectic rigidity properties in both finite and infinite dimension. In finite dimension, the main tools that we use are generating functions and symplectic capacities. In infinite dimension we study flows of Hamiltonian partial differential equations (PDEs) and, in particular, flows which can be uniformly approximated by finite dimensional Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms. In the first part of this thesis we study the action selectors defined from generating functions and we build Hamiltonian invariants for subsets of $R^{2m}times T^*T^k$. This allows us to prove a coisotropic non-squeezing theorem for compactly supported Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of $R^{2n}$. We then extend this result to some non-compact settings. Finally we explain how this result can give information about the middle dimensional symplectic rigidity problem. Still in finite dimensions, we show that it is possible to use the symplectic camel theorem to create energy surfaces with compact invariant subsets. In the second part of the thesis we study symplectic rigidity properties of flows of Hamiltonian PDEs. We work in the context introduced by Kuksin and study a particular class of semi-linear Hamiltonian PDEs that can be approximated by finite dimensional Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms. We first give a new construction of an infinite dimensional capacity using Viterbo's capacities. The main result of this part is the proof of the analogue of the middle dimensional rigidity for certain types of Hamiltonian PDEs. These include nonlinear string equations with bounded nonlinearity such as the Sine-Gordon equation. In the final part of this thesis we study an analogue of Arnold's conjecture for the periodic Schrödinger equations with a convolution nonlinearity.

Are AI-Photographers Ready for Hire? : Investigating the possibilities of AI generated images in journalism

Breuer, Andrea, Jonsson, Isac January 2023 (has links)
In today’s information era, many news outlets are competing for attention. One way to cut through the noise is to use images. Obtaining images can be both time-consuming and expen- sive for smaller news agencies. In collaboration with the Swedish news agency Newsworthy, we investigate the possibilities of using AI-generated images in a journalistic context. Using images generated with the text-to-image generation model Stable Diffusion, we aim to answer the research question How do the parameters in Stable Diffusion affect the applicability of the generated images for journalistic purposes? A total of 511 images are generated with different Stable Diffusion parameter settings and rated on a scale of 1-5 by three journalists at Newswor- thy. The data is analyzed using ordinal logistic regression. The results suggest that the optimal value for the Stable Diffusion parameter classifier-free guidance is around 10-12, the default 50 iterations are sufficient, and keywords do not significantly affect the image outcome. The parameter that has the single greatest effect on the outcome is the prompt. Thus, to generate photo-realistic images that can be used in a journalistic context, most thought and effort should be put towards formulating a suitable prompt.

Avelin Belin, Adam, Geidemark, Oscar January 2024 (has links)
At the turn of the century, photographers started a transition from analogue to digital photography: a transition which took years to complete. The photographic landscape is now in a new period of development, with new AI-programs based on machine learning. These programs can be about (I) editing programs that aim to streamline the photographic workflow or correct pictures with technical flaws, such as reducing grain from a high ISO or enlarging pictures. The programs also incorporate (II) AI generated images based on prompting from an AI-artist, so called text-to-image programs like DALL-E 3, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and Firefly 2. In this study we have done seven semi-structured interviews with Swedish photographers. We have used a postphenomenological theory based on Don Ihde’s philosophy. In analyzing the material from the interviews we have used narrative analysis. The results showed that photographers who worked in advertising, with organizations or clients had a higher tolerance for image manipulation with (II). These photographers valued effectiveness in their workflow and saw a larger need to adapt to new technology. While nature photographers valued authenticity and used (I) sparingly. Another result from the study was that Swedish photographers do not consider (II) photography and do not think that AI generated images should be allowed to compete in photo competitions, only in certain categories with only AI generated images.
