A Study of the Strategies of Third Generation Mobile Communication Service

Lin, Su-hui 14 June 2006 (has links)
The growth of the mobile communication subscription is the main driver of the operators¡¦ revenues, before the appearance of 3G mobile communication service. As the penetration rate of mobile phones jumped over 100% in Taiwan, it¡¦s obvious that the life cycle of the GSM system has shifted to the mature stage, which all of the operators are under the pressure of low growth rate of voice service and declining ARPU rate due to the fierce price war in the market, and started to introduce 3G service. The 3G mobile communication technology offers users higher speed data communication, mobile commerce solutions, and multimedia services on the current 2G mobile communication basis. This has brought hope to mobile communication industry. In order to enhance the value-added services, operators must evolve its current role, which simply provide equipment and infrastructure service, to become a total solution provider that can integrate the whole industry value chain vertically. Therefore, this study mainly focuses on the 3G industry value chain and the competitive strategies. Moreover, this study will discuss global mobile communication development circumstances and the operation strategies of the worldwide leading players, in order to come up with appropriate managing tactics. Hopefully, the successful experience from successful companies can help Taiwan operators to understand more about the trend of global communication market strategies

Cost-Benefit Assessments of Distributed Power Generation

Yu, Sen-Yen 10 July 2003 (has links)
Abstract The most common application of Distributed Generation (DG) is for reliability reasons. After experiencing an interruption, backup generators can be started to supply electricity to critical loads. The next most common application for DG is peak load shaving. During time periods of high energy demand or high energy prices, on-site generators are started up and used to serve part of the on-site loads. So DG can increase reliability of power supply, reduce loss of interruption and solve the problem of peak loads. Due to the high costs, only a few were installed. In order to investigate their economic values, in this thesis, several economic assessment methods are used to evaluate the cost-benefit of DG. Test results have revealed that, unless it is for environment protection reasons, the investment of DG is of little value if the fuel cost is high, and the electricity and the customer interruption costs are low. Utilizing the heat content of gas-to-liquids by-product streams for commercial power generation

Adegoke, Adesola Ayodeji 30 October 2006 (has links)
The Gas-to-liquids (GTL) processes produce a large fraction of by-products whose disposal or handling ordinarily becomes a cost rather than benefit. As an alternative strategy to market stranded gas reserves, GTL provides middle distillates to an unsaturated global market and offers opportunities to generate power for commercial purposes from waste by-product streams, which normally are associated with increased expenses incurred from additional handling cost. The key concept investigated in this work is the possibility of integrating the GTL process with power generation using conventional waste by-product steam streams. Simulation of the integrated process was conducted with the aim of identifying the critical operating conditions for successful integration of the GTL and power generation processes. About 500 MW of electric power can be generated from 70% of the exit steam streams, with around 20 to 25% steam plant thermal efficiency. A detailed economic analysis on the LNG, stand-alone GTL, and Integrated GTL Power-Generation plants indicates that the integrated system is more profitable than the other options considered. Justifying the technology and economics involved in the use of the by-product streams to generate power could increase the net revenue and overall profitability of GTL projects. This technology may be transferable to GTL projects in the world, wherever a market for generated power exists.

Generation Y : De nya konsumenterna / Generation Why : The questioning customer

Lindvall, Sara, Bengtsson, Kristina January 2010 (has links)

/
Generation Y, or should we say generation why, a generation known for its way of always questioning the world around them. This generation is born late 1970’s to early 1990’s. The generation is often known for being spoiled by the people around them, obnoxious in their way of always marketing themselves and putting high demands as both employees and customers. Generation Y is raised in a high-tech society and live on the theory that the world is their oyster. This thesis is focused on explaining who generation Y is, how they act as consumers and how important the brand is to them. We have put a spotlight on in which way generation Y may differ from the traditional purchasing process. We made a questionnaire involving the traditional purchasing process and brand issues. The questionnaire aimed to find out how the literatures image of generation Y was consistent with the image our survey would make. The survey took place in April 2010 at the University of Skövde and the participants were all students.

The results of our study pointed out a few interesting issues. The survey showed signs of what the literature had talked about, but we could also see a few differences that made us thinking. We did not think that the traditional purchasing process would fit generation Y, as the theories had portrayed them as very different from previous generations. But the result of our study does not entirely reflect the careless and wasteful generation as we originally had expected to find.

: -Kvalitativ intervjustudie.

Ramic, Jenni January 2015 (has links)
