Para dar suporte a este estudo, implementamos um monitor de tráfego com vistas a utilizar características mais realistas de tarefas e um simulador de redes WDM dinâmicas. Os resultados mostram que é possível estabelecer níveis equivalentes de serviço com economia de transponders devido à reutilização espacial dos caminhos ópticos. Além disso, percebeu-se a diminuição do número médio de saltos para as conexões estabelecidas, o que pode implicar um menor número de reconfigurações dos equipamentos ópticos para o estabelecimento do caminho (diminuição do overhead de configuração). Todavia, o uso de equipamentos mais lentos eleva o tempo de retenção das conexões no sistema. Para resolver isto, estudamos a adoção de múltiplos caminhos alternativos (multiple streams) para uma mesma conexão, o que naturalmente mostrou-se eficiente apenas para redes mais conectadas.

The purpose of this study is to determine the possible influence of the use of filmstrip material upon a group of third-grade pupils as compared with another group of third-grade pupils not using filmstrip materials.

The purpose of this study is to determine and evaluate a third grade reading program that will increase the individual child's reading ability and will stimulate maximum progress during a period of nine months. It is believed that through the development of this program a larger number of the children in this particular group will be able to make the transition from the primary type of reading to the intermediate level at the end of their third year in school.

According to Bernard (1999:28) learners test results have become such an accepted indicator of school performance that for manY,a school with high test scores is per force a good school. Often, academic results constitute the only criterion by which the success of a school is measured even to the extent that solely on this basis schools are labelled as effective or ineffective, resulting in unpleasant outcomes for the school regarded as 'failing' schools (Naidu etsl, 2008:39). This trend is manifested in Lesotho in the uproar generated by publication of case (Grade 12) examination results (setot, 1999:2).
