A técnica Meisner e as sementes do Sistema stanislavskiano plantadas em solo americano / -Canton, Luciana Giannini 02 April 2019 (has links)
A técnica Meisner e as sementes do Sistema stanislavskiano plantadas em solo americano. 2019. 183f. / The Meisner Technique and the Seeds on American Soil Planted by the Stanislavskian Sistem. 2019. 183p. Thesis (Doctorate in Theater) - School of Comunications and Arts, University of São Paulo, São Paulo, 2019. This thesis proposes the theorical study of the Meisner technique, observing its origins and relations with the Stanislavski\'s Sistem. The goal of this research was to analyse step by step the meisnerian technique and clarify which are the procedures created by it, and how is it related to the Sistem. The study questioned the possible origins of the following meisnerian procedures: the repetition exercise, the activity, the knocking on the door, the emotional preparation, imitation, impediments and the work with scenes. After this panorama, was made an analysis that stablished distinctions and paralelisms between the Meisner technique and some procedures of the Sistem, pointing spots of contact and inflexion between them, such as: communion, circle of attention, affective memory, given circunstances, the \"magic if\" and the étude, but found also significative differences. This theses concludes that two elements of the Meisner technique, besides being inspired by Stanislavski, were created by Meisner: the repetition exercise and the emotional preparation.

Teatro irresoluto: impasses do teatro subvencionado na encenação do espetáculo Oresteia - o canto do bode pelo grupo teatral Folias D\'Arte / Irresolute theater: deadlocks in the subsidized theater in the staging of the spectacle Oresteia o canto do bode by Folias DArte Theatre GroupAssano, Gustavo Takashi Moraes 25 February 2016 (has links)
A partir deste debate, expomos a compreensão e posicionamento do grupo Folias DArte seguindo as analogias e aproximações concebidas para encenar a trilogia de Ésquilo / This paper consists in an approximative analysis between the formative path of Folias DArte Theatre Group from São Paulo and the execution, in 2007, of the spectacle Oresteia o canto do bode. Starting from the terminology utilized by the studied group on the meaning of this artistic endeavour, we seek to clarify a reading on the senses and intrusive voices established by the narratives epic artifices on the scenic material conceived in the adaptation. This endeavours content understood as a craft from the operatives in the theatrical field and the way by which this content is translated into a conscious activity directed and produced by the group in programmatic terms is confronted with organizative paradigms from the formation of modern Brazilian theatre. Retaking historical readings on the opposition between the idea of Modern Theatre (understood as an actualization of genres and dramaturgies associated with a notion of professionalization of the theatrical artist in the decade of 1940) and some of the major debates on the consolidation of modern Brazilian theatre in the decades of 1950 and 1960, we base the legacy of these debates not as a dispute over aesthetic influence, rather as projects of theatrical modernization in conflict. From this debate, we expose Folias DArte Theatre Groups understanding and positioning following its analogies and approximations conceived in order to stage Aeschylus trilogy

Sverigespel : Kent Anderssons och Bengt Bratts dramatik 1967-71 mot bakgrund av samhälls- och teaterdebatten / "Sweden plays" : plays by Kent Andersson and Bengt Bratt 1967-71 seen against the debate on society and the theatreVikström, Eva January 1989 (has links)
The dissertation deals with the Municipal Theatre of Göteborg with special reference to the period between 1967 and 1971, during which the group theatre developed and paved the way for a repertoire of social criticism. The theatre debate is viewed against the background of the socio-economic, ideological, and cultural development of the 1960,s. After describing conditions at the Municipal Theatre of Göteborg under Mats Johansson's management from 1962 onwards, the study concentrates on analysing three group theatre plays produced by Lennart Hjulström: Flotten (spring 1967) by Kent Andersson, Hemmet (autumn 1967) by Kent Andersson and Bengt Bratt, and Sandlådan (autumn 1968) by Kent Andersson. The first play thematizes the ideological confusion of the middle-aged generation, the second the disappointment of the aged at the betrayal of socialist ideals, and the third the manipulative repression of children's education. A series of stagings with strong elements of social criticism caused a long and intense debate in the summer of 1969 about both the repertoire and the internal conditions of the Municipal Theatre. In spring, 1971, Kent Andersson and Bengt Bratt wrote Tillståndet (an ambiguous title meaning both 'condition' and 'permission'), by which the authors intended to expose the repressive tolerance of bourgeois society. This play functions as an evaluation of both the group theatre period and the situation of the theatre as a whole, and it is therefore analysed in a metaperspective. It also functions as a summary of the criticism of the Swedish welfare state. / digitalisering@umu

This dissertation investigates possibilities of approximation between contemporary theater and problems related to the present time from the analysis of the play The year of dreaming dangerously (2015), from Magiluth, a theatrical group created in Pernambuco. Concepts such as \"theatre of the real\" and \"contextual art\" are used to analyze the influences of the country\'s political situation, and especially the Occupy Estelita movement, in the creation of the play. In addition, we discuss how performative theatre procedures can be visualized in the creative process and in the group\'s scenic writing and are configured as practices for expanding the political potential of contemporary theatre. We also make approximations and dialogues between The year os dreaming dangerously and We (Nós), from Galpão group, through critical analyzes of the plays, to understand characteristics of political theatre these days.

The Praxis of Theatre Directing: An Investigation of the Relationship Between Directorial Paradigms and Radical Group Theatre in Australia Since 1975Foster, Michael E., n/a January 2004 (has links)
The thesis investigates the field of Theatre practice variously referred to as alternative, non-mainstream, avant-garde, community or fringe theatre. I have suggested the term 'Radical Group Theatre' - a term which, I believe, best encompasses the sector formerly represented by this diverse body of theatre practice. I focus on the relationship between theoretical and practical paradigms, and debates surrounding them; theatre making processes; and directorial practice in a theatre form which has emerged as a distinctive set of characteristics, ideological frameworks and practices in the Australian context. The work is strongly informed by the perspectives and practices of a range of major contributors to the field. It notes the inadequacy of conventional analytics and established understandings of the theory/practice nexus for exploring Radical Group Theatre, and establishes an alternate set of frameworks. These enable fresh engagement with the development and current praxis of an important theatre form which has not previously been considered as a whole field yet has taken particularly exciting directions in Australia over the past three decades. Methodology and objectives: An important aspect of the study is the way in which the research methodology parallels the practice under investigation. That is, the practice of Radical Group Theatre in Australia mirrors the 'Reflective Reflexive Loop' which I propose as the pre-eminent principle of the praxis. The methodology has developed out of my Masters degree research which was an interrogation of my directorial practice in the field of Youth/Community theatre, 1976-1989. I was further interested to analyse the field of group theatre to determine whether common key principles identified as characteristics of the form in the earlier study constituted the basis for an analytical model of Radical Group Theatre praxis. The investigation for this thesis began with a project designed to synthesise the essential qualities of directorial practice: the qualities of the good director, the major influences on practice, and the expectations participants have regarding the function of the director. The preliminary findings formed the basis for a comparative study which sought answers to the key questions as they apply to a pre-professional radical theatre setting - university student theatre. This project gave birth to the focus questions of the study which established the theoretical and methodological frames for the thesis.

Meisner across paradigms : the phenomenal dynamic of Sanford Meisner's technique of acting and its resonances with postmodern performanceMcLaughlin, James Anthony January 2012 (has links)
The Meisner Technique emerged as a part of the realist, modern theatre of the early-Twentieth Century and extended its influence through the rest of that century, including the 1960s and 1970s when there was an explosion of various forms of postmodern performance. This work will demonstrate that while Meisner’s Technique is a part of the paradigm of modern, realist theatre, it simultaneously challenges this ideology with disruptive processes of the sort that postmodern performance instigates. It is the thesis of this work that the Meisner Technique operates according to a set of phenomenologically-aligned imperatives that create strong resonances with certain forms of postmodern performance. This establishes the dynamic wherein the Meisner Technique is able to enter into discourse with instances of the postmodern paradigm of performance. In the first three chapters I will conduct in-depth analyses of Meisner actors’ relationships with their environment, their fellow performers, and their actions from a range of phenomenological perspectives. In the fourth chapter I will apply the conclusions of these analyses to the operation of the Meisner Technique within the paradigm of modern, realist theatre. In the fifth chapter I will set a backdrop to the postmodern field and suggest the issues from this tradition with which the Meisner Technique might resonate. Chapters Six, Seven, and Eight each take one example of an artist from the postmodern field, Richard Foreman, Michael Kirby, and Robert Wilson respectively, establishes their own particular context, and suggests those processes relating to acting/performing technique that might provoke the most productive exchanges. This juxtaposition suggests the places between the practices where discourse might take root and suggests the beginnings of such dialogues.
