A failure in these applications can cause financial loss, so it is essential to ensure their quality. One way to achieve this goal is through software testing. Although the testing activities bring many benefits, they add cost to a software development project, which should be reduced. A strategy used for this is testing automation. Repetitive and error prone activities are strong candidates to be automated, among them we can mention the test cases generation. The Web Guitar tool enables the generation and execution of test cases from the structural model of Web application under test. This model presents problems related to its accuracy. Thus, this work proposes its evolution aiming to increase the number of generated test cases and improve their quality. As contribution, a new version of Web Guitar tool was implemented to sweep a web application identifying new GUI elements and visiting different instances of a same page in order to provide a more complete model. The results obtained in a case study performed with two Web applications, System to Support PPGI/UFAM and DiskTransito, provided evidence of the feasibility of this work, since the proposed tool (WG-Modified) contributed to the generation of a greater number of test cases for System to Support PPGI/UFAM, despite its execution time exceed the time calculated for the original tool. When analyzing the time required to generate each test case, WG-Modified was more efficient than its original version. However, the results of this study for the second application (DiskTransito) showed some problems and limitations that will be addressed in future works.

In the Black-Scholes model, the volatility considered being deterministic and it causes some inefficiencies and trends in pricing options. It has been proposed by many authors that the volatility should be modelled by a stochastic process. Heston Model is one solution to this problem. To simulate the Heston Model we should be able to overcome the correlation between asset price and the stochastic volatility. This paper considers a solution to this issue. A review of the Heston Model presented in this paper and after modelling some investigations are done on the applet. Also the application of this model on some type of options has programmed by MATLAB Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Overlay Window Management: User interaction with multiple security domains

Feske, Norman, Helmuth, Christian 14 November 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Graphical user interfaces for high-assurance systems must fulfill a range of security requirements such as protected and reliable presentation, prevention of unauthorized cross-domain talk, and prevention of user-input eavesdropping. Additionally, it is desirable to support legacy applications running in confined compartments. Standard isolation methods such as virtual-machine monitors provide one frame buffer per security domain, where each frame buffer is managed by one legacy window system. This raises the question of how to safely integrate multiple (legacy) window systems and protect the displayed data while preserving the usability of modern user interfaces. Our paper describes the OverlayWindow System, a general mechanism for multiplexing windows of multiple distinct window systems into the host frame buffer. Thus, each legacy window appears to the user as one corresponding host window that can be moved and resized. To achieve this, only slight modifications of the legacy window system are required whereby, the source code does not have to be available. Our implementation of an Overlay Window System successfully multiplexes Linux, GEM and native L4 applications.

A Computer Simulator For Ball Mill Grinding

Yesilay, Yasemin Ayse 01 September 2004 (has links) (PDF)
Ball mill grinding is an important operation in the processing of most minerals, in that it may be used to produce particles of the required size and shape, to liberate minerals from each other for concentration purposes, and to increase the powder surface area. Grinding of minerals is probably the most energy consuming task and optimization of this operation has vital importance in processing plant operations to achieve the lowest operating costs. Predicting the complete product size distribution, mill specifications and power draw are important parameters of this optimization. In this study, a computer simulation program is developed in MATLAB environment to simulate grinding operations using the kinetic model in which comminution is considered as a process continuous in time. This type of model is commonly and successfully used for tumbling grinding mills having strongly varying residence time as a function of feed rate. The program developed, GRINDSIM, is capable of simulating a ball mill for a specified set of model parameters, estimating grinding kinetic parameters from experimental batch grinding data and calculating continuous open and closed-circuit grinding behavior with mill power input. The user interacts with the program through graphical user interfaces (GUI&rsquo / s).

GUI driven End to End Regression testing with Selenium

Hamberg, Christer January 2017 (has links)
Digitalization has changed our world and how we interact with different systems. Desktop applications have more and more been integrated with internet, and the web browser has become the Graphical User Interface (GUI) in today’s system solutions. A change that needs to be considered in the automated regression testing process. Using the actual GUI has over time shown to be a complicated task and is therefore often broken out as its own standalone test object. This study looked into time and quality constrains of using the GUI as driver of the regression testing of business requirements in a web based solution. By evaluating the differences in execution times of test cases between Application Programming Interface (API) calls and GUI driven testing, flakiness of test results and required modifications over time for a specific test suite. These constraints were analyzed by looking into how reliability of the test results could be achieved. With a GUI driven full end to end scope the quality in software solutions could be improved with a reduction in the number of interface issues and detected errors in deployed systems. It would also reduce the volume of test cases that needs to be executed and maintained as there are no longer standalone parts to verify separately with partially overlapping test cases. The implementation utilized Selenium WebDriver to drive the GUI and the results showed that by utilizing Selenium the test execution times were increased from approximately 2 seconds (API) to 20-75 seconds (Selenium). The flaky test results could be eliminated by applying the appropriate pattern to detect, locate, and scroll into visibility prior to interacting with the elements. In the end of the study the test execution results were 100% reliable. The navigation required 15 modifications over time to keep them running. By applying the appropriate pattern a reliable test result can be achieved in end to end regression testing where the test case is driven from the GUI, however with an increase in execution time.
