Quality Investing: Combining the Gross Profitability with the Free Cash Flow Yield / Quality Investing: Combining the Gross Profitability with the Free Cash Flow Yield

Dopita, Jiří January 2016 (has links)
This thesis examined the predictive power of different strategies for future stock returns. The analysis was conducted using a data sample of 3976 firms traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ during a 29 year time horizon, from July 1986 to June 2015. Predictive powers of different strategies were also tested during three sub-periods and during bull and bear markets using both long-only and long/short portfolios to check whether the predictive power is robust. It was found that the FCF yield is a better indicator of future stock returns than the gross profitability. The difference between average monthly returns was significant during all tested time periods and market situations using both long-only and long/short portfolios. The newly introduced FCF profitable value strategy proved to be a better predictor of future stock returns than the profitable value strategy. The FCF profitable value strategy presents also an improvement over the FCF yield strategy. It was found that the FCF profitable value has a better predictive power for future stock returns than the FCF yield at least during some time periods or market situations. Purchartová, Dana January 2015 (has links)
Title: The Impact of Alcohol Consumption on Gross and Fine Motor Skills of Individuals Objectives of the thesis: The main objective of my thesis is to assess an immediate effect of alcohol on selected tasks from the area of fine and gross motor skills. First identified were the average values for selected tests in sober individuals, and then the values with an increasing level of alcohol in blood. The second objective is to differentiate whether or not are fine and gross motor skills affected upon the same alcohol level in blood. Methods: The required data were obtained on the basis of experimental measurements on 12 probands (6 women and 6 men) who were tested for fine motor skills using three non- standardized tests modified or created for the purpose of this experiment: threading beads on a string, unlocking locks and dropping coins to a moneybox. Gross motor skills were tested using stabilometric platform in a standing position with legs together and with open eyes for 30 seconds. The observed parameter in the fine motor skills test was the time, while in the stability test it was the track of COP; each fine motor skills test was performed three times in each round. In the second and in each subsequent round every proband was administered 0.3 g of alcohol per kg of weight. The total number of...

Analýza rozvodovosti na území ČR po roce 1989 / Analyses the divorce rate in the Czech Republic after the year 1989

ŠVARZBERGEROVÁ, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis analyses the divorce rate in the Czech Republic after the year 1989. The first chapter is devoted to the definition of basic terms. Divorce is the legal dissolution of marriage during the life of spouses. Divorce is the dissolving of the bonds of matrimony between a married couple under the rule of law. Divorce is a social phenomenon reflecting the family stability, there is a transformation of traditional behavioural patterns, moral criteria and economic incentives. Since 1989 till present the divorce rate in the Czech Republic is at a high level. The second chapter of the theoretical part evaluates the development and current situation of divorce rate in our country. It is divided into three subsections: Influencing factors of divorce, causes of divorce and divorce rates in Europe. The aim of this diploma thesis is the evaluation of the development of causes of the divorce in the Czech population, capturing the specifics of the development of divorce in the new socio - economic conditions after 1989. With regard to the objective of the diploma thesis I set three hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: Compared with other EU countries in the Czech Republic the divorce rate persists at a high level after 1989. Hypothesis 2: The divorce rate varies by region in the Czech Republic. It is the highest in regions undergoing restructuring of the economy, with high unemployment rate and social problems. Hypothesis 3: The divorce rate is high in big cities and on the contrary low in traditional, predominantly, rural regions with a stable population. I conducted a quantitative research in the form of data analysis. The main source of the data was the Czech Statistical Office and Eurostat. I have analysed and compared the data which reveal the divorce rate in the Czech Republic and the EU in 2011 and the development of divorce from the year 1989. The data were analysed by correlation and spatial analysis and to compare the data I used the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results show that the divorce rate in the Czech Republic in comparison with other EU countries after 1989 remains at a high level. Crude divorce rate since 1989 is around 3.0 divorces per 1000 inhabitants, which represents one of the highest divorce rates among EU countries. The divorce rate in the Czech Republic was one of the few demographic processes that were the least affected by the economic and social transformations after 1989. According to the results of the data analysis for the year 2011 I have verified, that the divorce rate in the Czech Republic is territorially differentiated, varies in different regions, cities and rural areas. High crude divorce rate is in districts undergoing restructuring of the economy and as a result there is a high rate of unemployment and social problems are emerging. The highest divorce rate in 2011 was in Česká Lípa. Conversely, the lowest crude divorce rate is the less populated districts, with a stable population and a high proportion of religious people. In 2011, the lowest crude divorce rate was in the district of Jihlava. Religion had the most statistically significant effect on the divorce rate. In districts with a higher proportion of religious people the crude divorce rate is lower than in districts with a lower proportion of religious people.

NÁRODOHODSPODÁŘSKÉ DOPADY INSTITUCIONÁLNÍ RESTRUKTURALIZACE APLIKOVANÉHO ČESKÉHO ZEMĚDĚLSKÉHO VÝZKUMU / Institutional restructuring Czech Agricultural Research

Šlajs, Jan January 2017 (has links)
This dissertation entitled The Economical Implications of Institutional Restructuring of Applied Czech Agricultural Research solves the issue of effectiveness of applied national agrarian research, which is financed from public funds. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the current basis of applied agricultural research funded by the governance, respectively those scientific institutions that are eligible for an annual institutional grant to long-term development. Describe their focus and structure of results. Another purpose is to look for possible reserves in the system and to propose the restructuring of national applied agricultural research in organizations established by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. I have focused on comparing the outputs of scientific institutions in the periods of science and research support programs since 2007. In the data evaluated by the research institutions, I have been using bases in the last five years. From the point of view of the effectiveness of applied agricultural research, I am using data from 1989, respectively 2003. I solved the chosen topic of the dissertation by progressive steps. First, I evaluated the individual research institutions in terms of their outputs within the announced programs of support for science and research. I was looking for the argument that there is a substitute in the form of a private research organization in the current system of public research institutions. Which I didn´t find. State established applied agricultural research is unique in its content. For a comprehensive view, I have analysed the structure and types of research results achieved in the announced support programs. Problematics was solved mainly by comparison analysis based on literature, data and their aggregated results. The economic and social policy impacts are processed on the performance of the agriculture - food industry complex in terms of gross added value, socio-demographic data about workers in the field and complex. The dissertation proposes a new organization structure of applied agricultural research established by the state. A system of the central agriculture research organization is designed on the base of the current geographical distribution on the territory of the capital city Prague and Brno. The solution provides a more complex use of the existing unused potential of agriculture public research organizations. At the same time the standard elements of modern management are applied. Research has shown that the current system of funding science and research, which prefer quantity rather than output quality, is a major failure. At the same time, the work has shown that there is a way-out from the current fragmented system of the organization of applied agricultural research while preserving its unique possibilities. The results of this work enable, in the case of political will, the realization of greater efficiency of applied agricultural research established by the state in the Czech Republic.
