Fluxmetr s grafickým zobrazením B-H křivky / Fluxmeter with graphical display of B-H curve

Ježek, Jaroslav January 2010 (has links)
This work deals with simple fluxmeter which is able, together with other device, to show hysteresis loop. Hysteresis loop is a graphic expression of dependence of magnetic induction on intensity of magnetic field. Oscilloscope is used to display the hysteresis loop. This device is fully sufficient for the display. The measured objects are solenoids from various kinds of materials with the same shape. The main aim of this work is the design, realization and description of the fluxmeter. The fluxmeter consists of several partial blocks. The first one, on which this work is focused, is signal generator which is able to generace different kinds of signal. The generated signal comes on primary winding of solenoid where a magnetic field on a given intensity rises. An amplifier is used to obtain the sufficient intensity. Next thing this work is focused on is the design of the integrator which is necessary for the correct function of the fluxmeter. As suggested, there is shown the block diagram of linking of individual parts. There are described the measured results at the end of this work.

Vývoj a přezkoušení nové metody pro měření tuhostních a tlumicích vlastností kloubů v paralelně kinematických strukturách / Development And Verification Of A New Method For Measuring The Stiffness And Damping Properties Of Joints In Parallel Kinematic Structures

Kolouch, Martin January 2009 (has links)
In this dissertation is presented the development of a new measurement method for the stiffness and damping characteristics of a joint in a parallel kinematic machine tool. The main contribution of this method is specially for applications, that demand accurate information about stiffness and damping parameters from assembled parts of machines tool. Methods for compensation of deformations in machines tool, that are carried out by control, belong to these applications. Another contribution of this work is the technical implementation of the proposed principle of the new method. At this point the focus of the work was devoted to signal processing, that differs in a certain degree from other types of signal processing methods, that are used in other dynamic measurements, e.g. modal analysis. One of the main requirements was the possibility to consider the nonlinear behavior of the measured structure. In another chapter the modified signal processing method was used for measuring a joint in a test rig. The results were compared with results from other measurement methods. On account of this comparison the statement was made that the new method can be used for measuring the stiffness and damping parameters of machine parts. Finally the new method was applied to measure the properties of a joint, which was built in a machine tool. Moreover, the problems, that appeared during the measurement, were also described.

Magnetic losses in maganese zinc ferrites: the role of sinterization and microstructural parameters.

Lázaro Colán, Victoria Amelia 21 May 2010 (has links)
The use of manganese zinc ferrite in power sources of battery chargers is growing, due to its low magnetic power losses at inductions around 0.2 T. These ferrites belong to the soft magnetic materials group, they are polycrystalline ferromagnetic oxides with face centered cubic structure. Powders of this material were compacted in uniaxial press and in automatic press of production, by ring and toroidal form, respectively. Two firing cycles, varying the atmosphere oxygen content between 5 and 15%, were applied to evaluate its effect on microstructure, density, magnetic losses in high induction and permeability. Samples sintered in warmer positions inside the furnace resulted in higher density and larger grain size, as expected, but higher losses at 25 °C were achieved. Increasing the atmosphere oxygen content from 5 to 15% did not alter density significantly, but resulted in a slight increase in grain size. On the other hand, the correlation between oxygen content and losses was complex. There are lower losses, at 60 °C. Similar behavior was observed with hysteresis loss, which is compatible with the change in magnetocrystalline magnetic anisotropy (K1). Measurements were performed from 25 to 100 °C, at 0.2 T, aiming at the evaluation of the effect of temperature on the two parcels of hysteresis loss. Samples sintered at 1290 °C with low atmosphere oxygen content showing a minimum on the losses versus temperature curve. The available techniques to analyze Fe2+ content were not capable of establishing, unequivocally, the expected relation between this variable and the oxygen content of the sintering atmosphere.

Silva, Gustavo Rodrigues da 03 December 2010 (has links)
Submitted by Marcelo Teixeira (mvteixeira@ucs.br) on 2014-06-03T20:29:34Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Gustavo Rodrigues da Silva.pdf: 8142476 bytes, checksum: 29c4748e15d0fbcc852d788b9f1fa011 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2014-06-03T20:29:34Z (GMT). The goal was to develop a non-destructive test procedure to determine the thickness of the hardened layer, thus avoiding the need to perform (destructive) measurements of the microhardness. Measurements of the magnetic susceptibility showed a peak (ferrite) around 800 A / m and other (martensite) at around 3500 A / m. Therefore, a correlation was sought between the peak amplitude of ferrite with the thickness of hard layer on the surface. For this purpose sensors were developed to measure Barkhausen noise as well as a filter for signal processing. It was possible to correlate measurements of microhardness with some features observed in magnetic measurements, for example, the amplitude of the Barkhausen noise and magnetic field of peak Barkhausen signal. Thus, a relationship was found between the amplitude of the Barkhausen noise and the thickness of the surface layer. It would be desirable to supplement these with other measurements and suggestions for further work are detailed.

Monitoring of power station steels using electromagnetic sensors

Karimian, Noushin January 2014 (has links)
With the world’s aging power generation network, especially in Europe and the United States, life-extension of steel plant components is increasingly a critical issue, as components are exposed to high temperatures and pressures during their lifetime, potentially resulting in carbide coarsening, making them prone to creep cavitation, possibly leading to component failure. Therefore, in order to evaluate the likelihood of component failure, non-destructive testing and evaluation procedures must be developed to properly assess the level of degradation in power station steels and ensure that end-of-life conditions are not reached. Electromagnetic (EM) inspection techniques have the potential to assess the level of degradation in power station steels through in-situ measurements. This research work introduces and examines a novel approach in the development of an EM sensor system for long term use. Specifically, it focuses on employing the developed EM sensor system technology in the monitoring of microstructural variations in power generation steels (such as boiler tubes) for in-service monitoring and evaluation during maintenance periods. In this work, controlled measurement of the EM properties (differential permeability) of cylindrical samples, machined from power station pipes (P9) and tubes (T22) in different states of degradation were carried out using two different EM sensor systems. Analytical and numerical methods (Finite Elements) were employed to calculate the sensor response to the samples and EM properties inferred by fitting the models to the measured results. The results from a closed magnetic loop sensor system were also considered, where the magnetic hysteresis curves for the steel samples were measured, from which relative incremental permeability values were obtained. It was found that the incremental permeability values measured by this system were connected to the differential permeability values obtained from the induction spectroscopy. Strong correlations have been drawn between microstructural changes (quantified using Vickers hardness measurements) in heat treated samples and EM properties (incremental and differential permeability). Finally, correlations established using the lab-based closed magnetic loop system are transferred to real-world samples, such as grade 91 open pipe / tube specimens. The measurement results verify that the techniques employed for measuring the EM properties of rod samples produce similar results for the open tube samples, demonstrating the viability of application of EM methods for assessment and monitoring of open power station pipes and tubes in-situ.

Dynamique de l'aimantation assistée par un champ électrique dans des dispositifs à base de (Ga,Mn)As / Electric field induced magnetization dynamic in (Ga,Mn)As based devices

Balestrière, Pierrick 25 January 2011 (has links)
This work has been devoted to the study of both theoretical and experimental electric field induced magnetization dynamics in a (Ga,Mn)As based device. A layer of (Ga,Mn)As, whose magnetic anisotropy is complex, is of particular interest for magnetization manipulation by electric fields.I proposed a scheme for the precessional switching of the magnetization using cubic anisotropy field reduction triggered by electric field pulse. Using a model macrospin, I demonstrated that a ns-pulse is sufficient to switch the magnetization between two equilibrium positions. An all-semiconductor epitaxial p-n junction based on low-doped (Ga,Mn)As was fabricated. Gating effects triggered by low voltage pulses induced a strong decrease of the cubic anisotropy field. I demonstrated that magnetization reversal is dominated by the nucleation and the propagation of domain walls. The distribution of pinning fields was found to be broad. Due to a magnetic inhomogeneity of the (Ga,Mn)As layer, it was not possible to observe any ferromagnetic resonance induced by an electric field. However, I proposed a magnetization reversal scenario based on single or multiple gate voltage pulses measurements

Analýza ztrát v elektrických strojích při nestandardních podmínkách / Losses Analysis in Electric Machines under Special Conditions

Bulín, Tomáš January 2019 (has links)
This thesis deals with the analysis of magnetic losses in electrical machines and the possibilities of their measurement. Magnetically soft and hard materials are very prone to changing magnetic properties. They can be changed simply by changing the temperature of the material or different stresses induced in the material, resulting in different results. These changes are important to keep in mind when an electric machine is being designed. The original parameters of the affected materials can be restored by annealing or grinding. These methods release the induced stresses within the material. Due to these effects, it is also important to know how to measure magnetic parameters. Each way has its own specifics and has a certain error of the measurement. When the machines for higher efficiency, rpm or higher temperatures are designed, it is advisable to know how their magnetic properties changed. This thesis deals with the properties of different materials, their measurements and finally simulation of the chosen electric machine with the application of the measured results.

Elasticity induced instabilities

Manish Kumar (9575750) 27 April 2022 (has links)

The present dissertation focuses on two themes: (i) elastic instability of flow and (ii) elastic instability of microscopic filaments.

(i) The presence of macromolecules often leads to the viscoelastic nature of industrial and biological fluids. The flow of viscoelastic fluids in porous media is important in many industrial, geophysical, and biological applications such as enhanced oil recovery, groundwater remediation, biofilm formation, and drug delivery. The stretching of polymeric chains as the viscoelastic fluid passes through the microstructure of the porous media induces large elastic stresses, which leads to viscoelastic instability at the Weissenberg number greater than a critical value, where the Weissenberg number quantifies the ratio of elastic to viscous forces. Viscoelastic instability can lead to a time-dependent chaotic flow even at negligible inertia, which is sometimes also known as elastic turbulence due to its analogous features to traditional inertial turbulence. In the present thesis, we investigate the pore-scale viscoelastic instabilities and the flow states induced by the instabilities in symmetric and asymmetric geometries. We found that the topology of the polymeric stress field regulates the formation of different flow states during viscoelastic instabilities. Viscoelastic instability-induced flow states exhibit hysteresis due to the requirement of a finite time for the transformation of polymeric stress topology. Further, we study viscoelastic flows through ordered and disordered porous geometries and explore the effect of viscoelastic instability on sample-scale transport properties. Viscoelastic instability enhances transverse transport in ordered porous media and longitudinal transport in disordered porous media. We also derive a relationship between the polymeric stress field and the Lagrangian stretching field. The Lagrangian stretching field helps to predict the feature of flow states and transport in complex flows. The experimental measurement of the polymeric stress field is extremely challenging. The framework established here can be used to obtain the topology of the polymeric stress field directly from the easily measured velocity field.

(ii) The interaction between flow and elastic filaments plays an important role in sperm and bacterial motility and cell division. The sperm cells of many organisms use long elastic flagellum to propel themselves and also face complex flows and boundaries during their search for egg cells. Strong flows have the potential to mechanically inhibit flagellar motility through elastohydrodynamic interactions. We explore the effects of an extensional flow on the buckling dynamics of sperm flagella through detailed numerical simulations and microfluidic experiments. Compressional fluid forces lead to rich buckling dynamics of the sperm flagellum beyond a critical dimensionless sperm number, which represents the ratio of viscous force to elastic force. Shear flows navigate the sperm cells in complex geometries and flows. We have also studied the effect of flow strength and flagellar elastic deformation on the sperm trajectory in simple shear and Poiseuille flows.
