Pojetí autorství v 21. století a vztah fanoušků k autorskému dílu na příkladu přijetí zakončení série videoher Mass Effect / The idea of autorship in the 21st century and the relationshim between fans and autorproduced content based on the reception of the final episode of the mass effect videogame series

Michal, Petr January 2015 (has links)
In this paper, we look at a media controversy that took effect at the release of the third game of the Mass Effect videogame series. The fans hated the ending of the game and demanded the publisher change it, which later happened. The fans have thus been given a certain amount of power and influence that wasn't too standard. The first part of the paper deals with videogame theory - we talk about the expressive power of videogames and how it can influence people. With the help of Henry Jenkins and Pierre Lévy we then showcase several media theories which attempt to explain the relationship between the fans, authors and content. Central to this paper is a qualitative research of chosen internet forum posts where we have attempted to learn the reasons for the fans' outrage. In the summary, we summarize what we have learned so far and attempt to put it all together.

Emoční inteligence a její srovnání u heterosexuálních a homosexuálních jedinců / Emotional intelligence and its comparison among heterosexual and homosexual people

Jelínek, Jakub January 2015 (has links)
The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is emotional intelligence and the overview of changes in understanding this construct since its establishment. Furthermore, the thesis provides a summary of two significant models of emotional intelligence as well as a survey of existing means of its measurement and enumeration of studies focused on the connection between emotional intelligence and particular aspects of life. Finally, the theoretical part of the thesis explores the possibilities of developing emotional intelligence. The practical part uses quantitative research to analyse individual differences in emotional intelligence by comparing the levels of emotional intelligence between homosexual and heterosexual population. The findings revealed a significant difference between trait emotional intelligence of homosexual and heterosexual men. Moreover, the results also verify the difference in overall emotion regulation and emotion regulation strategy of emotion suppression between heterosexuals and homosexuals. The findings also support the claim that women have higher emotional intelligence than men and that the individuals who regard themselves as physically healthy have higher emotional intelligence than those who consider themselves as seriously ill. Rozložení inteligence a osobnostních charakteristik u transsexuálů typu female-to-male a male-to-female / Distribution of intelligence and of the personality traits in FtM and MtF transsexuals

Novák, Marek January 2012 (has links)
The thesis deals with the differences between Female-to-Male (FtM) and Male-to-Female (MtF) transsexuals, focusing on their intelligence and personality traits. The aim of the study was to compare the results between male and female transsexuals in these two areas and to recognize if the distribution of given personality traits corresponds more to their biological sex or to the gender identity. In the theoretical part of the work, studies about males and females in the population are presented and put into a broader context of the studies concerning FtM and MtF transsexuals, while using all accessible literature. The research comprises of data comparison of 200 transsexuals (100 MtF and 100 FtM) using Raven's Progressive matrices and DOPEN questionnaire. The results were evaluated by the statistical analysis and were later compared to the norms for men and women in population. There were found no differences in intelligence in both groups of transsexuals. Both groups' intelligence (IQ 117) is slightly above-average. Using the Raven's Progressive matrices, higher variability of results was measured in the MtF group. Male-to-Female transsexuals reached significantly higher scores in neuroticism compared to Female-to-Male group. This scale was identified as significantly higher in both groups when...

Integrace Pogamutu s Defconem / Integrace Pogamutu s Defconem

Píbil, Radek January 2011 (has links)
Title: Bridging Pogamut and Defcon Author: Bc. Radek Píbil Department: Department of Software and Computer Science Education Supervisor of the master thesis: Mgr. Jakub Gemrot Abstract: In this thesis we are going to discuss the support of Pogamut AI frame- work for the Defcon PC game. Defcon is a multiplayer real-time strategy putting player into control of one part of the world's sea force, air force and nuclear ar- senal. We are going to cover five main topics. First is concerned with bridging Pogamut and Defcon. Next discusses provided algorithms useful for agent pro- gramming for such a kind of environment. Third describes the implementation of a purely Java agent. Fourth shows an implementation using Jason MAS frame- work. Final is going to evaluate the performance of the agents. Our main reason for bridging Pogamut is that as the gaming AI becomes more and more prominent in academia, more and more computer games allow programmers to implement their own AI. Pogamut AI platform follows this trend by expanding into two new environments Starcraft and Defcon, which introduce real-time strategy environ- ments to Pogamut, whose origins are in first-person shooters. Arimaa challenge - statistická ohodnovací funce / Arimaa challenge - static evaluation function

Hřebejk, Tomáš January 2014 (has links)
Arimaa is a strategic board game for two players. It was designed with the aim that it will be hard to create a computer program that could defeat the best human players. In this thesis, we focus on the design of the static evaluation function for Arimaa. The purpose of a static evaluation function is to determine which player is leading in a given position and how significant the lead is. We have divided the problem into a few parts, which were solved separately. We paid most attention to the efficient recognition of important patterns on the board, such as goal threats. The basic element of the proposed evaluation function is mobility. For each piece, the number of steps that the piece would need to get to other places on the board is estimated. We also examined machine learning. We developed a new algorithm for learning a static evaluation function from expert games. An implementation of an Arimaa playing program, which demonstrates the proposed methods, is part of the thesis. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Disruption of movement or cohesion of groups through individuals / Disruption of movement or cohesion of groups through individuals

Vejmola, Jiří January 2013 (has links)
Title: Disruption of movement or cohesion of groups through individuals Author: Jiří Vejmola Department: Department of Theoretical Computer Science and Mathematical Logic Supervisor of the master thesis: Mgr. Roman Neruda, CSc., Institute of Computer Science of the ASCR, v. v. i. Abstract: Just a few of informed and like-minded individuals, guides, are needed to lead otherwise naive group. We look at some of the possible changes that can be caused by the presence of another informed individual with different intentions, an intruder. It is implied that he cannot cause anything significant under normal circumstances. To counter that and to increase his chances of success we intruduce a new parameter - credibility. We explore how it changes the overall behaviour. We show that by applying it to the intruder his influence over others increases. This in turn makes naive individuals more willing to follow him. We show that if the right conditions are met he can eventually become the one who leads the group. Keywords: multi-agent system, swarm intelligence, emergence, credibility

Strategie zvládání stresu ve vztahu k emoční inteligenci u vězeňských dozorců / Stress coping strategies in relation to emotional intelligence by prison guards

Rychnovská, Simona January 2016 (has links)
The thesis deals with the concept of stress and emotional intelligence. First, it discusses the major theories of stress, coping strategies and resilience. Furthermore, they are presented and described in more detail methods for identifying coping strategies. The next chapter describes the burnout syndrome and its causes. Chapter emotional intelligence deals with theoretical inputs of these issues and, as with stress are also presented in this chapter methods of detecting emotional intelligence. The last chapter focuses on the personality of the prison warden and qualification requirements for the profession. The empirical part deals with the research of emotional intelligence and coping strategies among prison guards. Subsequently outputs are evaluated quantitatively processed results of these two variables and the correlation between them.

Neuronové modelování matematických struktur a jejich rozšíření / Neural modelling of mathematical structures and their extensions

Smolík, Martin January 2019 (has links)
In this thesis we aim to build algebraic models in computer using machine learning methods and in particular neural networks. We start with a set of axioms that describe functions, constants and relations and use them to train neural networks approximating them. Every element is represented as a real vector, so that neural networks can operate on them. We also explore and compare different representations. The main focus in this thesis are groups. We train neural representations for cyclic (the simplest) and symmetric (the most complex) groups. Another part of this thesis are experiments with extending such trained models by introducing new "algebraic" elements, not unlike the classic extension of rational numbers Q[ √ 2]. 1

The contribution of intelligence, learning strategies, and personal development to engineering students' academic performance

Skuy, Melissa Ann January 2003 (has links)
A research report submitted to the Faculty of Humanities, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Education (Educational Psychology), 2003 / Previous studies have addressed the question whether intellectual ability (as measured by the Raven's Progressivp Matrices Tests) is related to academic performance in engineering (Rushton & Skuy, 2000; Rushton, Skuy & Fridjhon, 2002; Rushton, Skuy & Fridjhon, 2003). The question arose of whether nonintellective (personality and attitudinal factors) playa larger role at this level, than intelligence, in determining academic performance in engineering university students. Accordingly, data were yielded for 93 percent (N=100) of the second year Chemical Engineering class in terms of their performance on various measures. These included two measures of intellectual ability, namely the Ravens Advanced Progressive Matrices (RAPM) and the Organiser (of The Learning Propensity Assessment Device), together with a measure of learning strategies and attitudes (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory), locus of control (Locus of Control Inventory) and self-esteem (Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory). The students' academic results comprised the December 2002 and June 2003 examination results. The current research results demonstrated that while neither the RAPM nor the Organiser yielded any significant correlations with academic results, certain of the non-intellective measures did, and were able to differentiate between high and low academic performers. Motivation, Autonomy and Freedom from Anxiety were found to be significantly related to academic performance, and contributed 26 percent of the variance. This indicates that these factors play a role in academic achievement, and that exploration of personality and motivational factors constitutes a potentially fruitful avenue of research. However, it also seems that 74 percent of variance was unaccounted for, and therefore future studies should explore other factors, not included in this study, in relation to engineering students' academic performance. Furthermore, it emerged that it is unrealistic to attempt to predict academic performance at midyear (June results). KEY WORDS: Intelligence, learning strategies, locus of control, self-esteem, engineering students, second year, and academic performance. / AC2017
