SommaRo Foajén : interiör, tapet och möbler i samspel / The SommaRo Foyer : Interior, Walls and Furniture in Interaction

Torsdotter, Kristin Charlie January 2012 (has links)
This rapport concludes Kristin Charlie Torsdotters bachelor project in industrial design at University of Gotland. The project involved the making of the interior design of the foyer of the new apartment building SommarRo in Uppsala, and also the design of a bench for that foyer. The project was done in collaboration with the architects of the building, Arcum Arkitkter. The main part of this project has been the design of the bench. The requirements of the bench was that it not only would be functional and inviting, but also for it to work as an art installation in the foyer. The bench should join the foyer and the rest of the building together, while it should have a clear relationship with the overall theme for the building: modern Japanese design with elements of Scandinavian contemporary design. The working method for this project has been the design methodology. After researching the subject the foyers interior was made according to the buildings overall theme. From those interior designs four different concepts for the bench was produced. The final concept was chosen in consensus with Arcum and then developed to the final product. The result of this project is a foyer in modern Japanese style with elements of Scandinavian materials and nature, and a clean cut and elegant bench in oak and bent steel.
