Coelho, Felipe Lange January 2018 (has links)
The present work describes the development of protocols for regioselective synthesis of 2- and 3-substituted indoles with selenium derivatives. The synthetic route involves intramolecular hydroamination of selenoacetylenes and vinyl selenides to afford, respectively, 2-selenylindoles and 3-selenylindoles. The regioselective preparation of indole was performed through different intermediates in which the reactivity was exploited to provide the desired position of functionalization. The unprecedented synthetic methodology for 2-selenylindole preparation was performed by thermal cyclization of selenoacetylenes in absence of catalyst or other additives. The conversion of vinyl selenides in 3-selenylindoles was performed using strong bases and this reaction reinforces the synthetic application of these species. Furthermore, a new protocol for the selenoacetylene synthesis was established in which arylselenylpyrazole compounds was investigated as copper (I) ligand. The methodology tolerates a wide range of functional groups and affords the desired products in excellent yields and chemoselectivity. The photophysical properties of selenylindoles were investigated and these compounds were applied as optical sensor for copper (II), nickel (II) and benzoyl peroxide. The assays revealed that the presence of analyte promotes a fluorophere fluorescence emission enhancement with redshifted absorption maximum that can be associated with inhibition of photoinduced eletron transfer.
