Van der Merwe, Alida Jemima January 2005 (has links)
The aim of this study is to indicate the necessity for training Christian workers and to formulate suitable criteria for undergraduate study. The central theoretical argument is that criteria regarding the effective training of Christian workers are lacking and should therefore be formulated. An increasing demand for healthy reformed-theological and ministry oriented undergraduate training of Christian workers, calls for an interesting and new challenge for the departments of Practical Theology at Theological Faculties in South Africa and worldwide. The first aim of this study was to determine which possible Scriptural perspectives exist on the intra- and interpersonal development of the believer. The basis-theoretical perspective showed a distinct relationship and interdependency between the development of emotive and spiritual skills. Both form an integral part of the believer's process of growth towards spiritual maturity and maturity of faith. The second aim was to examine the contributions of other relevant disciplines. Regarding the metatheoretical perspective, emotive training is considered increasingly important. Disciplines such as Sociology. Psychology, Psycho Neurology and Social Work contributes interesting perspectives on the intra- and interpersonal development of the individual. This knowledge has to be taken into account when a scientifically answerable training course for Christian workers is to be developed. Empirical research clearly showed the need for ministry oriented undergraduate training of Christian workers, which should include the development of intra- and interpersonal skills. The third goal was reached by integrating the basis- and meta-theoretical perspectives, and by laying down guidelines for this new field of practice. The researcher evaluated relevant study material of the above-mentioned disciplines and integrated the information into criteria for a new theo-psychosocial study course for undergraduate training of Christian workers. / Thesis (M.A. (Pastoral))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2006

My Personal Paso Doble: An Autoethnographic Performance “Starring” the Hidden Curriculum of Confidence Within International Latin DanceSport

Pasco-Pacheco, Crestina January 2015 (has links)
Using an autoethnographic methodology in tandem with a social constructivist lens, the purpose of this study is to critically inquire into the implicit lessons learned by competitive Latin dancers from their participation in the hidden curriculum of DanceSport culture. Additionally, this research looks to outline the intrapersonal and interpersonal development experienced by DanceSport dancers. Doing so, I focus on the voice of the dancers in the exploration of International DanceSport studios and competition floors as sites of informal and non-formal education, particularly in relation to the hidden curriculum of DanceSport. My role as an autoethnographic researcher and participant in this study was to collect data through multimodal expression, as well as ongoing dialogue with participants. As researcher and participant, I completed the same hands-on task and interview questions as participants, and journaled to explore thoughts concerning my DanceSport experience. Information obtained from interview transcripts and journal entries has been organized, coded, and analyzed creating themes. A description and interpretation of the findings uncovers the unifying theme(s) of six narratives. Narrative inquiry reveals that the hidden curriculum of DanceSport is the awakening and development of dormant confidence as dancers acquire implicit lessons pertaining to the development of intra and interpersonal knowledge. A discussion exploring the unique ways this dissertation contributes to the DanceSport community and body of literature concludes this study. This is alongside an assessment as to the culture’s ability to meet current goals of formal education, and the potential Latin DanceSport has to be used as an educational tool in the development of student well-being.

Die interpersoonlikestylrepertoire van middelvlakbestuurders

Koortzen, Pieter, 1966- 06 1900 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / The goal with the research is firstly is to study and theoretically describe the interpersonal style repertoire of middle level managers according to the interpersonal approach and more specifically the 1982 Interpersonal Circle. Secondly the interpersonal development interventions and the development process for middle level managers were discussed from this approach. The third theoretical goal involved compiling a interpersonal development programme for middle level managers. The empirical goals of the research involved the evaluation of the interpersonal style repertoires of middle level managers by means of self and fellow manager evaluations in an attempt to get an indication of the most prominent interpersonal styles of middle level managers. Furthermore the empirical investigation involved an analysis of the influence of the interpersonal development programme in expanding the interpersonal style repertoires of middle level managers. The results of the self evaluations suggest that the warm-friendly, deferent-trusting, assureddominant and sociable-exhibitionistic styles are the primary styles of the 263 middle managers in the sample. Their evaluations by the 82 fellow managers seem to indicate that the warmfriendly, assured-dominant, deferent-trusting, and sociable-exhibitionistic styles are the most prominent interpersonal styles of middle level managers. Although these results seem to correspond to the teoretically applicable style repertoires of middle level managers the scores were all below average. XIV With the interpersonal development programme an attempt was made to make the group of 32 managers aware of their own interpersonal style repertoires and to provide them with the opportunity to study the way in which these are used in interpersonal transactions during a experiential learning experience. The development interventions, process and the influence of the development programme are also discussed.
