I denna uppsats undersöker vi Game/Media Jam, Hackathon och liknande koncept och försökerskapa en metod för att ta fram en modell för deras topologi. Vi ämnar att undersöka degemensamma punkterna Jams och Hackathons har via deras regler, samt jämföra detta med JamSessions. Vidare kommer vi försöka identifiera reglernas syften. Dessa syften sätter vi i entopologiskt mätbar intervall som sedan kan överföras på den topologisk modellen. Sedan användsdessa resultat för att jämföra regelrätta Jams/Hackathons, närliggande koncept och arrangemangsom endast har vissa gemensamma punkter med Jams, för att se om modellen kan påvisa om ettarrangemang har en känsla av Jam utan att faktiskt vara det. / In this thesis we will study Game/Media-Jams, Hackathons and similar concepts and try to establisha method to create a model for their topology. We intend to investigate what these concepts have incommon through their rules and compare that to Jam Sessions. Following this we will try to extractthe purpose of the rules. These purposes will then be put in topologically measurable intervals thatcan be transfered onto the topological model. The results will then be used to compareJams/Hackathons, similar concepts and events that only have a few things in common with Jams, tosee if the model can determine if an event is in the spirit of a Jam without actually being one.

Syftet med detta arbete är att jämföra effekterna av game feel och detaljerad grafik på en spelares immersion. Arbetet är riktat mot korta produktioner och har som mål att redovisa data som gör att spelutvecklare kan göra informerade val vid implementation av funktionalitet och grafik. Tre prototyper skapades för att mäta spelarnas immersion: en med abstrakt grafik, en med detaljerad grafik och en med game feel. Försökpersonernas upplevelse av prototyperna samlades in med hjälp av en webbbaserad enkät. Försökpersonernas svar visar inga säkra resultat men pekar på att försökspersonerna som spelade prototypen med game feel upplevde mest immersion.

The Town of Hay River experiences significant threats to life and property each spring as ice jam release events from upstream bring waves of ice and water to the town. The development of a forecasting tool for ice jam release events has been limited by insufficient data, especially regarding the speed of ice runs associated with ice jam release events. The purpose of this research was to document and analyze ice jam release events to provide the town warning of their potential timing and magnitude, and to contribute to general knowledge on ice jam release. Comprehensive field programs were undertaken from 2007 to 2009, and this new data was used to assess the River1D ice jam release forecasting model. Although the model showed reasonable approximations for wave arrival times for flood forecasting purposes, the predicted speeds and arrival times of ice runs did not agree very well with field observations. / Water Resources Engineering

2-D hydraulic and ice process modeling at Hay River, NWT

This study was part of the development of an ice jam flood forecasting system for Hay River, NWT. 2-D numerical models were used to simulate ice processes in an effort to predict ice jam formation. A summer survey was conducted to finalize the bathymetry of the Hay River Delta. Observations were undertaken during freeze-up and the winter to better understand Hay River ice conditions. Ice jam events were surveyed during breakup in 2008 and 2009 for model testing. The data collected was used to develop CRISSP2D and River2D models to simulate observed conditions. Simple tests were conducted with CRISSP2D to better understand the model inputs. CRISSP2D modeling of Hay River was unsuccessful and it limitations were discussed. River2D was able to match observed ice jam profiles. The results were used to create an Ice Jam Profile Generator to assist the Town of Hay River with evacuation planning. / Water Resources Engineering

GPS interference mitigation for small UAV applications.

The vulnerability of GPS to interference has been a major concern for both military and civilian applications, including small UAVs. Various signal processing techniques have been developed to improve the reliability of GPS receivers against different types of interference. Among these techniques, null steering is recognized as an effective method to protect GPS against both narrowband and broadband interference. However, due to the requirement of multiple antenna channels, it has mainly been implemented for large platform applications. This thesis examines the suitability of null steering techniques for small UAV applications and determines the practically achievable anti-jamming ability by implementing a two-element miniaturized adaptive antenna array. The adaptive antenna array is tested against a 2MHz broadband jamming signal under both laboratory testing conditions and a real jamming environment. Approximately 40dB anti-jamming range was achieved in the laboratory testing conditions. 38dB and 42dB were obtained in a real jamming environment with different antenna configuration. An experimental investigation of turbulent flow characteristics beneath a simulated ice jam

Ice jams have caused serious hazards such as floods in northern countries. Despite several studies focused on river ice jams, a lack of research has been identified in the existing literature to analyze impacts of an ice jam on turbulent flow characteristics. Thus, this research attempts to address this knowledge gap. A better comprehension of flow features beneath an ice jam will help river ice engineers to reduce economic, environmental, and ecological damages. Technical difficulties and safety concerns limit data collection in ice jam field studies. Therefore, a physical model of a river ice jam was constructed in the Hydraulics Research & Testing Facility at the University of Manitoba. Two scenarios were proposed to simulate an ice jam. The first scenario was to use a basic model with constant upstream and downstream water depth. The second scenario was developed as an extension of the first scenario, with a modified setup to allow the upstream water depth to be greater than the downstream water depth. This was done to increase similarity with the real ice jam in nature and improve the results. For the second scenario, different roughness ratios of channel bed to ice jam were defined. Experiments were conducted to quantify the turbulent flow characteristics including streamwise velocity and streamwise turbulence intensity distribution beneath the ice jam. The flow velocities were measured at different locations beneath the ice jam using an acoustic Doppler velocimeter. The turbulence intensities and bed shear stresses were calculated using the measured velocities. The results indicated that the flow velocity and turbulence intensity were a function of the streamwise location beneath the ice jam as well as the roughness of the bed and ice jam. Significant changes were observed in the velocity and turbulence intensity profiles where the boundaries were fully rough, which could influence an ice jam formation, sediment concentration and water quality, as well as river bed deformation. It is believed that the results from this research will improve our fundamental understanding of flow beneath an ice jam, and can be used for validation of subsequent ice jam numerical models. / October 2016
