Many people can not imagine their lives without it. Companies are looking for technologies which would make their products more attractive to users, provide more user friendly interface and make their products unique. Java EE is to fill this spot.This paper contains short description of Java programming language and short history of Java as a programming language development, followed by general concepts of Java Enterprise Edition and MVC usage in it.

This master's thesis analyzes annotation server algorithms for searching and updating annotation fragments. The annotation server is a part of the project Decipher. Analyzed algorithms are improved and replaced by newly designed algorithms in this project. A part of this project also designs a new algorithm for measuring how much is an annotation affected after updating the document.

The focus of this diploma thesis is a development of advanced web application for. The purpose of the application is extended .docx files management including import, editing, storage and creating new documents. The development comprises analysis, setting the requirements for the application, analysis of the Java Enterprise Edition and Office Open XML standard for the .docx file format. The thesis further deals with design, implementation and testing the application.
