Grafenový fotodetektor využívající plazmonických efektů / Graphene photodetector based on plasmonic effects

Horáček, Matěj January 2015 (has links)
Two rich and vibrant fields of investigation - graphene and plasmonics - strongly overlap in this work, giving rise to a novel hybrid photodetection device. The intrinsic photoresponse of graphene is significantly enhanced by placing the gold nanorods exhibiting unique anisotropic localized surface plasmon resonances on the graphene surface. The reported enhanced photoresponse of graphene is caused by the redistribution of localized surface plasmons in the nanoparticles into graphene. The exact underlying energy redistribution mechanism is thoroughly studied by a single particle scattering spectroscopy monitoring the particle plasmon linewidth as a function of the number of underlaying graphene layers. The obtained extraordinary plasmon broadening for nanoparticles placed on graphene suggests the contribution of a novel energy redistribution channel attributed to the injection of hot electrons from gold nanorods into graphene.

Tovt, Andrii January 2018 (has links)
Title: Role of surface defects in ceria-based catalysis Author: Andrii Tovt Department: Department of Surface and Plasma Science Supervisor of the doctoral thesis: doc. Mgr. Josef Mysliveček Ph.D., Department of Surface and Plasma Science Abstract: This work concentrates on the analysis of fundamental physicochemical properties of Pt-CeOx, single-atom Pt1 /CeOx, and inverse CeOx/Cu(111) catalysts. Preparation method for stabilized atomically-dispersed Pt2+ ions on ceria was developed and adsorption sites for Pt ions were thoroughly studied using advanced surface science techniques supported by theoretical methods. The mechanism of Pt2+ stabilization on ceria steps was revealed and the step capacity towards Pt2+ ions was estimated. Also, the preparation method for well-ordered cerium oxide ultrathin films with different stoichiometry and ordering of surface oxygen vacancies was developed, and the Ceria/Cu(111) interaction was investigated. Key words: heterogeneous catalysis, model systems, single-atom catalysis, platinum ions, cerium oxide.

Osobní zážitek SPU jako prostředek porozumění žákovým (individuálním) projevům / The personal experience of Specific Learning Difficulties as the way how to understand student's abilities

Pálenská, Jana January 2015 (has links)
This Master's Diploma Thesis The personal experience of Specific Learning Difficulties as the way how to understand student's abilities is devoted to educating students with specific learning disabilities. The special emphasis of the work is on the impact of disabilities on psychical, social, educational and professional life of an individual. The aim of the first part of the Research Project was to comprehend how students with specific learning disabilities perceive individual manifestations of their learning difficulties. The data were applied to a scheme and realization of an experimental workshop for primary school teachers with the aim of helping to improve the relationship between teachers and students. The purpose of the second part of research was to hold an experimental workshop offering its participants a subjective experience of specific developmental learning disabilities, their identification with students' learning difficulties and a future introduction of new didactic and psycho-social procedures into their teaching process. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The former is devoted to different psycho-social aspects of specific learning difficulties from the position of a student and an individual, the empirical part includes qualitative research conducted in...

Matematické modelování v neživotním pojištění / Mathematical modelling in general insurance

Zajíček, Jakub January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the mathematical models in general insurance. The aim of this thesis is to analyse selected mathematical models that are widely used in general insurance for the estimation of insurance portfolio statistics, pricing and the regulatory capital requirement calculation. Claim frequency models, claim severity models, aggregate loss models and generalized linear models are analysed. This thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part contains description of selected models. Described models are then applied to a real dataset in the practical part. The real dataset modelling was performed using the statistical software R. It has been proved that maximum likelihood parameter estimations are of better quality than the method of moments or quantile method estimations. The results of aggregate loss distribution computational methods are comparable. This comparability is mostly caused by a large number of observations. In the context of tariff analysis it was found that the most significant factors are driver's age and the driver's area of residence.

Příprava vzorků pro elektrochemické studium povrchů – transport vzorku mezi UHV a elektrochemickým prostředím / UHV-EC transfer system for electrochemical surface science studies

Jakub, Zdeněk January 2016 (has links)
This thesis deals with the combined ultra-high vacuum (UHV) and electrochemical (EC) studies of selected iron oxide surfaces, namely Fe3O4(001) and -Fe2O3(012). The state-of- the-art knowledge regarding these surfaces is briefly reviewed, and importance of understanding these materials in the electrochemical environment is discussed. The design of the transfer system between UHV and EC environment is presented; individual features of the system are thoroughly discussed and the system is used for testing the stability of the Fe3O4(001) (2×2)R45° surface reconstruction in ambient conditions. The experimental results presented in this thesis show that the Fe3O4(001) (2×2)R45° reconstruction, utilized as an adatom array for single atom catalysis studies, survives both exposure to air and to liquid water, if the exposure is achieved in well-controlled fashion. Further, this thesis presents the first-ever atomic scale scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) study of the -Fe2O3(012) surface, which is important for photoelectrochemical water splitting. STM images of two surface reconstructions of the -Fe2O3(012) surface known to date are presented. A bulk terminated model of the (1×1) reconstruction is confirmed and a novel surface structure model for the (2×1) reconstructed surface is proposed. Adsorption studies of H2O and O2 on the (2×1) reconstructed surface are documented by timelapse STM.

Matematické metody segmentace obrazu pro dálkový průzkum Země / Mathematical Methods of Image Segmentation for Remote Sensing Applications

Novotný, Jan January 2015 (has links)
Segmentation of an image into individual tree crowns is a key step in the processing of remotely sensed data for forestry practice. The doctoral thesis gives a broad overview of this topic. It comprehends theoretical context from mathematical point of view and defines basic terms from airborne imaging and laser scanning. Mathematical methods of tree detection are focused on a robust adaptation to the actual conditions in a region of interest. A novel approach of crown area delineation is introduced, it combines a seeded region growing technique with an active contour as a crown boundary representation. The parametrisation of all algorithms is analysed in a practical half of the thesis and more application-oriented issues are mentioned. Executable computer programs are attached.

Zemětřesné roje v různých tektonických prostředích: západní Čechy a jihozápadní Island / Earthquake swarms in diverse tectonic environments: West Bohemia and Southwest Iceland

Jakoubková, Hana January 2018 (has links)
In my doctoral thesis I have investigated earthquake swarms from two com- pletely different tectonic areas, West Bohemia/Vogtland and Southwest Iceland, with the aim of gaining a deeper insight into the nature of earthquake swarms in diverse tectonic environments. I analysed swarm-like activities from West Bo- hemia and Southwest Iceland from the perspective of statistical characteristics (magnitude-frequency distribution, interevent time distribution), seismic moment release, and space-time distribution of events. I found that the ratio of small to large events and the event rates are similar for all the activities in both areas, while the rate of the seismic moment release is significantly higher for the South- west Icelandic swarms. Seismic moment released step by step is characterised for the West Bohemia swarms, whereas seismic moment released in one dominant short-term phase is typical of Southwest Icelandic earthquake swarms. All the West Bohemian swarms took place in a bounded focal zone Nový Kostel that is fairly complex, consisting of several fault segments. The Southwest Icelandic swarms are distributed at much larger area along the Mid Atlantic Ridge up to its branching in the Hengill triple junction, the individual swarms clearly reflect a tectonic structure of respective focal areas. I have...
