The inca country: Reframing translated news from spanish to english by peruvian news agency andina

Cama-Casafranca, Melissa Erika, Del Carmen Olivares-Espinoza, Lucía 02 February 2021 (has links)
This paper analyses the reframing strategies (Baker, 2006) and transfer of communicational functions (Nord, 2010) in some news translated by state-owned Peruvian News Agency Andina (Agencia Peruana de Noticias Andina) from Spanish to English. This media platform uses translation to expand its readership to foreigners that might be interested in visiting and investing in Peru (Andina, 2016, par. 14), thus helping the nation's economy to grow. The study is based on a bilingual corpus of 114 news articles published in the economics and tourism sections during 2019. The contrastive text analysis showed how Andina reframes the translations to adapt them into a new sociocultural context, reflecting the discourse of the Peru brand. Andina translations reveal the use of reframing strategies to recontextualize events having an impact on Peruvian economy, to herald a "patriotic" discourse that highlights government's achievements, targeting Peruvian readership, and to provide information related to Peruvian tourist attractions. The changes in communicative functions inform change in text type focus in a set of translated news towards a tourism genre.

Traduire les éditoriaux du magazine Le Point du français vers l'arabe : du texte d'opinion journalistique à travers l'analyse traductologique de l'information engagée et son expression condensée dans l'intitulation et l'humour / Translating editorials from the french magazine Le Point towards arabic : Of the opinion journalistic text through the translatological analysis of committed information and its condensed expression in headlines and humour

Abisaad-Mohawej, Nidale 28 June 2011 (has links)
This study deals with particular problems arising when translating a journalistic text, particularly an editorial, depending on its specific features as well as journalistic prose;its purpose is to bring out a few remarks clarifying the French-Arabic translation of opinion journalistic text. The aim of this research is to study the translation strategies applied in a corpus made up of editorials taken from the French magazine Le Point. The study shows the important impact of culture in translating editorials. Thus, we firstnoticed that editorial headlines are influenced by the discourse genre and the journalistic tradition in which they are produced. The interpretation of these short textual segments requires a complex construction of meaning on the part of the translator. There is atendency of the French editorialist to use various strategies and techniques employed for persuasion in his editorials and headlines including humour. The study shows that the translator should be sensitive not only to conventions applying across genres in Arabicjournalistic culture, but also to humour effects and cultural citations in order for theintended effect to be achieved. Our research highlights as well the important role of thesource culture to determine the global translational behaviour.

The Inca country: el reencuadre de las noticias traducidas al inglés de la Agencia Peruana de Noticias Andina

Cama Casafranca, Melissa Erika, Olivares Espinoza, Lucía Del Carmen 08 October 2021 (has links)
This paper focuses on the analysis of the reframing strategies (Baker, 2006) and the text functions (Nord, 2010) of the news translated from Spanish to English by the Agencia Peruana de Noticias Andina (Peruvian News Agency Andina), a government news agency. This media platform uses translation to expand the readership towards foreigners potentially interested in visiting and investing in Peru (Andina, 2016).
