The problem with which this investigation is concerned is the discovery of suitable uses for the enameling kiln in the arts and crafts program at the junior college level in the production of kiln-formed glass and the testing of methods and materials that will permit work of aesthetic merit at a nominal cost to the students and the school.

N. Jensen. The following study is intended to answer, to a degree at least, the two questions inherent in this statement: namely, Is there a need for state junior colleges in Utah? This study investigated the Adlerian concept of social interest m entering community college students to determine the predictive value of social interest for academic achievement and to determine the relationship between social interest and ethnicity and gender. Data for this study included age, gender, ethnic origin, high school class quarter, financial aid status, ACT Composite, grade point average, and scores on the Social Interest Scale. The results of stepwise multiple regression analyses revealed that the social interest scores did not contribute significantly to the prediction of academic achievement. The results of an analysis of variance indicated a significant difference in the social interest scores of Anglo-American, Black-American, and Mexican-American students but the Scheffe test for multiple comparisons did not indicate any significant differences among or between the three ethnic groups. The results of a two-tailed t-test for independent samples indicated no significant difference in the social interest scores of males and females.

The problem with which this study is concerned is that of developing a curriculum guide educators can use in planning and organizing a course of study involving computer drafting at the junior college and technical vocational school levels. This study is also concerned with the impact of computer drafting on the present drafting curriculum.

The problem for consideration in this study was an investigation of the effects of two methods of preregistration advisement of junior college freshmen. Specifically, the following questions were posed. What would be the effects on college students of an individual preregistration advisement interview with a member of the professional counseling staff as compared to a group advisement session? Would the advisement interview for students produce differences in (1) the types of majors selected, (2) probabilities of success in declared educational objectives, (3) perceptions of the environment, (4) changes of major, (5) course changes, (6) failures to complete registration, (7) withdrawals during the first eight weeks of classes, and (8) number of course deficiencies reported at mid-semester? An auxiliary consideration was the following. What would be the effects of providing information about technical-occupational programs in the form of brochures?
