This diploma thesis addresses the problem of liquid and gas simulation, it particularly deals with computer simulation of flow of viscous newtonian liquids with a free surface. A main goal of this work is to create an efficient simulation model, utilizing the benefits of current GPU parallel architecture for general-purpose computing. I chose to implement Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics, a lagrangian particle-based method. A significant portion of this thesis consists of speed analysis of the implemented algorithm, comparison with other authors' achievements in the field and a demonstration of benefits brought by GPU involvement in the computation. As an output of the thesis I present an interactive computer program that allows for real-time simulation (and visualization) of water-like fluids.

This master thesis deals with the development of electrophoretic methods for determination of tantalum in recycled coolants used in the production of tantalum capacitors, as well as the separation of tantalum from chemically similar niobium. Developed methods are based on the formation of negatively charged complexes of tantalum and niobium with a number of ligands added to the separation electrolyte, especially tartaric and citric acid and 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol. The separations were performed in a fused silica capillary of the inner diameter of 50 µm and the effective length of 36.5 cm, a negative voltage of -25 kV was applied to the capillary. Using a separation electrolyte containing 0.1 mol·l-1 of tartaric and citric acid at pH = 2, separation of niobium and tantalum was achieved in less than 3 minutes; the absorption spectrometric detection was carried out in the ultraviolet region at a wavelength of 200 nm, the detection limit was 2.8 ppm of tantalum, and the quantification limit was 9.2 ppm of tantalum. Addition of 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol reduced the detection limit to 0.8 ppm of tantalum and the quantification limit to 2.6 ppm of tantalum; the electrolyte contained 0.1 mmol·l-1 of 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol, 10 mmol·l-1 of tartaric acid, 10 mmol·l-1 of citric acid, and 25 mmol·l-1...

Thesis Applications of ionic liquids in electrolytes for amperometric gas sensors and Li-ion batteries SUMMARY The dissertation presents the results of preparation and characterisation of new aprotic electrolytes based on ionic liquids for the solid-state electrochemical gas sensors and for the electrochemical energy storage devices - secondary lithium-ion batteries. In the part dealing with the solid-state amperometric sensor for NO2 research was aimed at development of new solid electrolyte. This electrolyte is developed as a system of ionic liquid embedded in the structure of a polymer, when the ionic liquid joints the properties of a solvent and a dissolved salt. The electrolyte therefore does not contain any volatile component and is long-term chemically and electrochemically stable. Several series of electrolytes were prepared with different polymers or macromonomers and imidazolium-based ionic liquids. The composition, especially the polymer-IL ratio was optimized. The electrolytes were successfully tested in a solid-state NO2 sensor with a gold minigrid serving as the indicating electrode. Dissertation thesis is focused on study of liquid electrolytes for lithium ion batteries. The electrical and physical properties of aprotic electrolytes are observed. The main goal is to increase the fire safety of the batteries. An anhydrous solvents and there blends was investigated. The common used solvents mixtures and new low flammable solvents were used. The common used solvents were used propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate and others. The new solvents were sulfolane and dimethyl sulfone. In the second part of the work the phosphor base flame retardants as additive in electrolytes was investigated. The last part deals with ionic liquids and there possible use as electrolyte in lithium ion batteries.

This experimental diploma thesis investigates the changes in the metrological characteristics of the electromagnetic current meter of velocity. The theoretical part of the thesis includes a brief summary of technical and metrological characteristics of these types of devices. In addition, it describes the tested device, the test track, and the measurement procedure, which consists of two variants: long-term monitoring with a relatively regular monthly measurement interval and short-term monitoring with a regular daily measurement interval. The evaluation of the experimental work focuses on the repeatability and variability of the displayed point speed values and their stability over time. Furthermore, the parameters reported by the meter during long-term and short-term monitoring are compared to each other. The results are also compared with similar experiments.

The thesis is deal with measuring the temperature dependence of dynamic viscosity and the calculation of measurement uncertainties. The thesis writes up the physical nature of viscosity and rheological properties. Next it is write up an overview of possible methods for measuring viscosity of liquids and overview of methods for measuring the density of liquids. An important chapter is the statistical evaluation of measured data represented mainly measurement uncertainties. In the practical part of the work is done workplace for measure the temperature dependence of dynamic viscosity. It is used two methods of measuring viscosity of liquids and two samples of liquids. Finally is done statistical evaluations of measurement. Based on the calculated measurement uncertainty measurement methods are compared.

The master´s thesis describes design of falling ball high pressure viscometer for measurements of rheological properties of liquids under high pressure and in the wide temperature range. The design is based on similar apparatuses, which are described in literature. The speed of falling sinker is measured by two optical senzors. Apparatus allows measuring of viscosity, density and optical observing structure of liquid. There was developed extensive program for the evaluation of measurement in Matlab. Apparatus is placed in the laboratory of the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design FME BUT and is used for research and creative activities.

There are described the properties of these fluids and methods for measuring certain properties. The practical part deals with measuring the temperature dependence of density and dynamic viscosity of alternative and commercially available heat-transfer fluids, determining the freezing point and compares the results.
