Ubytování vysokoškolských studentů v Praze v letech 1918-1939 / Accomodation of university students in Prague between years 1918 and 1939

The diploma thesis deals with practical issues of life of the university students in Prague du- ring the inter-war period. The main attention is on types of student's living and additionally on fi- nancial aspects, catering and social life. The thesis consists of three parts.Introductory chapter eluci- dates the structure of universities and students in the years 1918-1939. Furthermore there are also results of statistical research concerning forms of accommodation of students in the years 1913/14, 1920/21, 1930/31, 1939/40. The basic source of this statistical research are catalogues of students of the Charles University and the Czech Technical University in Prague. The second chapter describes forms of accommodation, their general attributes and system of dormitories in this period. The conclusion consists of presentations of particular dormitories in Prague. The thesis draws infor- mation from archival material of the National Archive and other archives. A source of useful infor- mation were also brochures and press for students from this period, memoirs and literature on histo- ry of universities.

The thesis focuses on the phenomenon of students from the so-called less developed countries in communist Czechoslovakia, specifically Arab students in the 50s and 60s of the twentieth century. In the first part the issue is put into a broader context of political and cultural connections. Apart from the situation inside the Arab region after the Second World War, the work offers insight into the mutual Czechoslovak-Arab contacts followed by a recap of Czechoslovak tertiary education after the year 1948. The text also presents the general situation of international students in the Czech environment in the observed era. Because it was the first wave of Arab scholarship holders supported by the Czechoslovak government to arrive at the end of the 50s, it is crucial to describe the shape of negotiation between the Czechoslovak and Arab sides. At the beginning of the second thematic part dealing with Arab students in Prague the attention is shifted towards cultural agreements and forms of studies in Czechoslovakia. The aspects of arriving abroad, preparatory language courses, accommodation in Prague, studying, everyday life of Arab students in Czechoslovakia and the conflicts they had faced are analyzed in the following subchapters. Submitted diploma thesis describes the life of historian Rudolf Holinka. His area of specialization was especially in the Middle Ages. He was a well-known professor and an author of medieval-themed books. His life was significantly influenced by the important changes in the society. He became a member of academic environment at Charles University in Prague at Faculty of Philosophy. He developed his interest in the history under the influence of the first generation Goll's students. His activity was moved to the recently opened Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University in Bratislava. He had to leave this place in consequence of changes which were happened during 1938. Holinka didn't even avoid the Nazi repression which burst out after German occupation of Czechoslovakia. There is also depicted his life during the Communist era. This diploma work tries as first to map the historian's life from the time of early studies up to his university work which was culminated by his appointment of professor at Faculty of Philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno.

The diploma thesis examines the influence of language teaching on the acquisition of socio- cultural competence through the medium of a questionnaire survey. Based on the interpretation of the data obtained, it provides information about respondents and their relationship to and opinions about the Czech Republic and its inhabitants. The statistical evaluation of this data provides an overview of the level of success in developing socio-cultural competence in selected socio-cultural areas. These are defined with reference to criteria specified at level A1 for Czech as a foreign language in relation to language teaching. The research element is based on theoretical hypotheses that we have presented in the theoretical section of the thesis. The aim of the thesis is to objectively map the development of selected socio-cultural competences by students in the context of language teaching.

The main topic of this thesis is analysing of the mobility of academic staff from the Faculty of Social Sciences in period 2011- 2015. The main aim of thesis will be exploration of the mobility of academic staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University, focuses on the individual academic degrees and different institutions inside of faculty. The first sub-objective will analyse the usability offered by the mobility of academic staff and their interest. As another sub-goal I chose the academic degree influence of individuals to participation on mobility and the comparison of individual institutes within the faculty, also comparison of personal and institutional barriers and benefits, related to the use of academic staff mobility at Faculty of Social Sciences. In this thesis I will work with the concept of internationalization and historical institutionalism. Part of the research will analyze the various components of the access to mobility, and overall statistics exits academics from institutes. These concepts explain the situation and possible changes, related to the mobility of academic staff at the faculty.

The purpose of this thesis titled ``The competence of students from selected faculties of Charles University to prevent Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) syndrome{\crq}q is to identify the readiness of selected future specialists (final year students specialising in the relative area) to prevent Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) syndrome. In the theoretical part of this work fundamental definitions, as well as terms relevant to Child Sexual Abuse syndrome (CSA), or Child Abuse and Neglect syndrome (CAN) are mentioned. Furthermore, some aspects of epidemiological indicators are presented showing us proof of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) syndrome in common populations and therefore a need to address this problem. In the practical part of this thesis quantitative interviews were used, which were implemented by Computer Aided Web Interviewing (CAWI). The subject group was a convenience sample of 579 students in there final year (2007/2008) of studying. Students from the following faculties participated: Charles University {--} 1., 2., 3. Medical faculty, Medical faculty in Hradec Kralove, Medical faculty in Plzen, Faculty of Law, Pedagogic faculty, faculty of Philosophy and Human resources faculty. Five hundred seventy nine respondents studying in academic year of 2007/2008 on selected faculties of Charles University were contacted. The questionnaire that was used comprised of different parts, in which both closed as well as open-ended type of questions were used. The scale was used in the analyses of the primary outcome measures. The absolute frequency, relative frequency, cumulative frequency, independent chi square, analysis of variance medium and sample standard deviation were determined. Both tables and graphs were used to show the frequencies distribution Based on results a standard of minimal knowledge/training was established based on the results. Recommendations were made as to the means for facilitating functional interdisciplinary collaborations. The recommendations presented in this thesis are fundamental and are intended to be used by University professors at of the above mentioned Universities. The standard includes fundamental terminology and logistics. The ultimate goal of this work is that it be applied, and that new and relevant information be added by specific faculties.

The thesis deals with the environmental assessment of buildings, concrete objects Letní lázně at Karlova Studánka. The first part describes the issue and legislation. There is also described a method of experimental measurement and methods of moisture measurement. The second part deals with the analysis of the specified object, description of selected renewable sources and description of possible modifications of the object. The third part is devoted to modeling and simulation of the specified object in DesignBuilder. Using the model were created various simulations with various modifications in order to reduce energy intensity of the object. Results were then evaluated and compared.

Jaroslav Průšek and Czechoslovak Sinology. Between politics, Science and Fascination. Abstract This thesis deals with the beginnings of Czechoslovak Sinology in the context of the political and social situation during the post-War period, posing the question: what factors played a decisive role in that process? The study focuses on a few main areas: Jaroslav Průšek, the founder of Czechoslovak Sinology, as an individual actor whose personality combined an engaged approach to social affairs with intellectual honesty based on direct contact with the culture under study (especially its language and literature), and his contribution to building Sinology as a scientific discipline. Of necessity, that was explicitly tied to the contemporary political situation, which shaped scientific practice through the cooperation of all loyal actors, at the ideological as well as institutional and personal level. Through a discourse analysis of contemporary texts, mainly by Průšek, we follow these continuities diachronically: the development of Průšek's thought on China from his student days in the 1920s, through his stay in China and Japan in the 1930s and the particular war years, until the post-War (and post-1948) period; as well as synchronically: the links to the period's mentality, created by shared values.
