Dvořáková, Tereza January 2013 (has links)
The thesis named Journalist Julius Pachmayer in the People's Court in detail and comprehensively deals with the case of the fascist, pro-Nazi political movement Flag member Julius Pachmayer. Pachmayer was also an editor and editor in chief of the newspaper of the same name, which was published in the First and Second Republic and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Pachmayer was a professional journalist, who in addition to Flag has also contributed to the People's leaves, the Czech word, National politics and other pro- German sheets that were issued in the time of Protectorate. After the Second World War, the People's Court tried and convicted Pachmayer of collaborating with the Nazis to prison, where he died in 1947. This thesis deals with Pachmayer's life and his journalistic praxis, the behaviour in Flag and also deals with the court process from arrest to Pachmayer's death in a prison hospital. The main goal of this thesis is to answer the question whether the Julius Pachmayer was an activist collaborator, or rather just conformist performing the orders which war period requested.

Proměna obrazu Sovětského svazu v protektorátním denním tisku na příkladu srovnání dobových mediálních obsahů z přelomu srpna a září 1939 a přelomu června a července 1941 / How changed the image of the Soviet Union in the protectorate daily press-comparison of the contemporary media contents in august-september 1939 and june-juli 1941

Veselá, Lenka January 2011 (has links)
Diploma thesis "Change of the Soviet Union image in the protectorate press based on comparison of the media content from the turn of August/September 1939 and June/July 1941" deals with the manner in which the protectorate newspapers informed about the Ribbentop-Molotov Pact and later about the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The examples of these events and their reflection in the Protectorate press demonstrate how flexibly the protectorate propaganda responded to the current political line. For the purposes of the thesis, there have been selected three newspapers: Polední list, Večerní České Slovo and Venkov. These periodicals were examined in two time-bound periods, from 23rd August till 27th September 1939 and from 16th June till 14th July 1941. The methodology used is a historical comparative analysis, which discusses the transformation of Protectorate propaganda attitudes in the dependence on the historical context, and semiotic analysis, which deals with period media discourse and reveals ideology sustained on the level of sign systems.

Nástup Červenobílých a Vlajka v letech 1939-1940 / Nástup červenobílých a Vlajka in the period from 1939 to 1940

Otcovská, Karolina January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on two periodicals that were published simultaneously during 1939-1940, i.e. in the initial period of the so-called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Both periodicals presented themselves as press platforms of the sympathizers of fascist groups. One of the periodicals related to the pre-war fascist group Červenobílí and the other referred to a fascist movement called Vlajka. Despite seemingly similar orientations, the magazines got themselves into a dispute that resulted in an extensive press campaign. The aim of my thesis is the detailed analysis of this campaign. Most of the people concentrated around Nástup Červenobílých magazine were active in the committee of Národní souručenství (the only legal Czech political organization of that time), or in its satellite institutions. Nástup Červenobílých thus acted loyally towards Národní souručenství and was financed by its leading officials. Vlajka magazine, on the contrary, was against Národní souručenství from the beginning, which was reflected in the attacks on Nástup Červenobílých. The press campaign was led on the level of personal insults and the main protagonists were Zdeněk Zástěra, publisher of Nástup Červenobílých, and Jan Rys with Josef Burda on the other side, both Vlajka officials. Both magazines used various...

"Černý Petr": česká společnost a Čestný štít protektorátu Čechy a Morava / "Old Maid": Czech Society and the Honour Shield of the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia

Beneš, Otmar January 2019 (has links)
Presented diploma thesis focuses on research and analysis of the only decoration founded in the name of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. It is not only focusing on the timeframe of the Second World War, but it also tracks the phenomenon of civil decorations and medals across entire modern Czech history. The main research question is following: why was not the preceding First Czechoslovak Republic creating similar institutions and why after 1945, or more precisely 1948, the time has come to create enormous inflation of them. The main aim of the thesis is to define the Honour Shield of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia as probably the very first civil decoration of modern Czech history. The thesis is not only focusing on the period of the occupation (1944-45), when the decoration was distributed. It also concentrates in detail on the previous thinking of the Nazi occupation authorities, which then resulted in founding of the decoration, together with the postwar retribution, with which were the awarded people confronted after 1945. The thesis is modifying so far common purely phaleristical approach to the topic, which it is supplementing with wider context. It is assessing the reaction of the Czech population on this particular award and on the term of honour, which it was supposed to...

The research focuses on Czechoslovakia as a tourist destination for a surprising number of anglophones in the early years of the Cold War. It argues that Soviet experience served as a best practices model for officialdom in Prague. This was modified where necessary to take into account the lessons learnt, national particulars, and the new geopolitical context. In both situations, foreigners were evaluated in terms of importance and potential as far as the communist cause was concerned. Key words: Czechoslovakia, communism, Cold War, English-speaking foreigners, hospitality techniques
