Bc. Malá, Václava: Development Policy of the European Union with a view to Colombia, Prague. Department of World Economy, Faculty of International Relations, University of Economics in Prague, 2009, 68 pages, Head: Ing. Josef Abrhám, Ph.D. The thesis focuses on the issue of the evolution of development policy and administration of development aid by the European Union as whole (i.e. the European Commission) as well as by individual member states. The case study looking into Colombia analyses putting the development policy and development assistance into practice. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter defines historical links between the European and developing countries, stipulates basic notions connected to the issue as well as defines the European Union institutions having development policy and development assistance in their respective agendas. Various forms of development aid are described at the end of the first chapter. The second chapter deals with prospective trends in the progress of development policy and development aid. Therefore, the Lisbon Treaty and the 10th European Development Fund are analysed in particular. The third chapter focuses on how development policy and development assistance are exercised in the Colombian case. The conclusion of the thesis contains a statement about a substantial importance of European Union in the field of granting international development assistance.

I analyze relations between the USA and Colombia in my diploma thesis. I focus on security and drug aspect of their relations. I investige influence of the USA on situatin in Colombia.

Presented work analyses business environment of Colombia. It focuses on political and security situation in the country, cultural and social differences, economic situation with regard to market opportunities for Czech companies in Colombia. It further evaluates mutual commercial relations between the Czech Republic and Colombia and addresses experience of particular Czech companies with business activities in Colombia. Based on the analysis of socio-economic environment and experience of Czech companies, a SWOT analysis of the Colombian market from the perspective of a Czech company is created.

Práce zkoumá příčiny násilí v Kolumbii především ve 20. století. Zabývá se socioekonomickými podmínkami země a postavením politických stran a jejich vlivem na společnost, důraz je kladen i na možnost aktivní participace obyvatel na politickém životě. Definuje jednotlivá období násilí a hledá u nich možné kořeny konfliktů. Větší pozornost zaměřuje na válku dosud probíhající, určuje její charakter a aktéry, zmiňuje její historii i současný vývoj.

This study is titled Colombia Foreign Policy Making: the influence of non-state actors and its main purpose is to analyze the influence of Non-State actors, violent type and Human Rights NGOs, in the Colombian Foreign policy behavior. It is divided into three respective sections -- a Constructive theoretical framework, the directions of the Colombia Foreign Policy, and the practical part to find the influence of Non-state actors in Colombia Foreign Policy behavior. It strives to answer how Colombian Foreign Policy behavior it's affected by Violent Non-state actors negatively and by Human Rights NGOs.

For this reason, the thesis is focused on perception analysis of tourists, residents and travel agencies, which are the main participants in this touristic sector. Colombia has been suffering from internal armed conflict since the 1960s. The European Union decided to interfere in the conflict s resolution in the beginning of the millennium with several means. This thesis aims to analyse the effect of the European Union s actions on the evolution of the Colombian conflict and to consider whether it has contributed to peace in Colombia. The European Union s real actions towards Colombia will be compared firstly with recommendations of two theoretical concepts, provided by Johan Galtung and John Paul Lederach, and secondly with the legislative framework of the European Union. Even though the European Union s development efforts in Colombia were evaluated as contributing to peace in Colombia, separate actions of some European Union s Member States, organizations or citizens were found to have the opposite impact. Thus, it is advisable for the European Union to develop a framework ensuring consistency and coherence of the European Union s both internal and external activities.

The demand for tropical fruit in the Czech Republic is rising, it´s a trend in the modern way of life. People in the Czech Republic, and all over the world, demand healthier ways of food consumption. We did research concerning a supply in the supermarkets and consumers. I found out, that a demand for tropical fruit was not very well covered and that people were demanding more variety of tropical fruit and were ready to up pay double prices for it. I compared data about consumption of tropical fruits in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. The comparison is drawn from net import of tropical fruit and net import it´s divided per capita. We proved that people in the Czech Republic were consuming fewer kilograms per capita per year than people in Germany and Austria. Annual consumption of tropical fruit in the Czech Republic grew by 7 % during the last five years, while in Germany it amounted to 0,3% and in Austria to 4,5%.
