Potocká, Eliška January 2021 (has links)
The thesis deals with the effects of the Venezuelan migration wave on Colombia. The aim of the thesis was to find out what impact the Venezuelan migration crisis has had on the situation in Colombia and what is the position of the Colombian government in relation to it. In order to answer these research questions, a qualitative content analysis was applied, which examined data provided by international organizations, political institutions or Colombian government authorities describing the current situation in the country. The main theoretical concept that this thesis uses as its basis is the push-pull theory of migration, which explains migration based on the mechanism of "push" and "pull" factors that motivate the population to move. As a result of the analysis of the examined data, the hypothesis was confirmed, which assumed that the migration crisis has had a negative impact on the Colombian national situation, specifically in the institutional, economic and social spheres. The results of the content analysis revealed significant negative impacts in all three mentioned spheres and subsequently the possible future development was outlined. Furthermore, the results of the analysis reveal Colombia's historical and current approach to Venezuelan migrants and confirm the hypothesis that the...

FARC-EP / FARC-EP

Kubátová, Eva January 2011 (has links)
This thesis was devoted to the topic FARC-EP Fuerzas armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia - Ejército del Pueblo (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army). The first part surveys the history of the guerrilla organization from its beginnings to the present. As the beginning of the Colombian guerrilla groups is considered Colombia's La Violencia civil war between 1948-1958 which was caused by disagreements between liberal and conservative party. FARC-EP incurred as a rural guerrilla movement of the Communist Party fraction, and they followed the Marxist doctrine. However, the communist ideals were nowadays replaced by the desire for more power and finance. The historical part of this work was therefore also dedicated to find answers to what is the organizational structure of the FARC, what is the origin of their financing and what are their current targets. In the second part of the thesis the media covering the period from 1st January 2002 to 31st August 2010 was analyzed. This period begins seven months before the onset of ex-president Alvaro Uribe Velez to the presidency after Andres Pastrana and ends one month after the onset of the new president Juan Manuel Santos. Koncept hearts and minds: analýza faktorů ovlivňujících jeho úspěšnost / Concept of hearts and minds: analysis of factors influencing its success

Janoš, Ondřej January 2020 (has links)
Heart and Minds concept is one of the most overlooked approaches of the counterinsurgency. This is surprising especially because the classic coercive strategies are struggling with producing sufficient outcomes. In fact it is quite the opposite in practice and they fail to supress the insurgency ultimately. Hearts and Minds strategy is based on assumption that if the government is able to gain public support the insurgents will lose vital resource for their fight and they will collapse eventually. In this thesis I am going to explore the potential the Hearts and Minds strategy has and demonstrate its strengths and weaknesses. There are five cases of insurgency to be examined in which the Hearts and Minds has been used successfully or unsuccessfully. The first case is the Emergency in British Malaya. Gerard Templer is considered as an author of the Hearts and Minds phrase, therefore his administration of Malaya should be examined I believe. Second case is the FARC insurgency in Colombia. Third case is the Zapatistas movement in Mexico. Fourth case is the US invasion into Iraq in 2003. Last case is the 2012 Tuaregs uprising in Mali and subsequent development. It is clear from the findings that Hearts and minds has its place among the COIN approaches. Even though it is not best suited for all...

Narkoterorismus: mezi obchodem s drogami a politickým násilím / Narcoterrorism: Searching for the crossroads of drug trade and political violence

Kolínský, Prokop January 2018 (has links)
The main objective of thesis ''Narcoterrorism: Crossroads between drug trade and political violence'' is to describe and analyze the phenomenon of narcoterrorism, a concept that combines in its core the politically-motivated violence, the illicit drug trade, and the use of terrorist methods. The goal will be to establish a comprehensive theoretical framework for the various types of narcoterrorism and the different supportive types that may occur between the politically-motivated or ideological groups, and the drug-trafficking criminal groups. This framework will be later primarily tested on the case of Colombia, where various warring ideological and criminal groups will be observed and analyzed. Other cases that will be secondarily used to further prove the established assumptions, will be focusing on other countries which seen in recent history a surge of political or criminal violence, and are either manufacturing or trafficking illegal drugs. These will include Peru, Mexico, and Afghanistan. In the final section of the thesis, the theoretical framework will be assigned to real historical cases, and a question of the prerequisites of narcoterrorist emergence will be discussed.
