Brottsofferperspektivet som mål eller medel för politiker? : En kritisk diskursanalys av politiska valmanifest

Pitkänen, Lisa, Eriksson Jäder, Tilda January 2023 (has links)
The study aims to investigate election manifestos from 2022 by how swedish politicans contructs vulnerability, crime victims and crime victim ideologies and which pre-existing discourses that are prevailing. Fairclough's critical discourse analysis was used as a method. The result showed that vulnerability is constructed in terms of (un)safety, which reproduces existing discourses. Victims were constructed as women, young and the general public. Mentioned crimes were men's violence against women, honor-related violence and gang crime. The victims deemed to be ideal, which can make non-ideal victims invisible, stereotype victims as homogeneous and strengthen the image of victims as vulnerable. By constructing the entire population as potential victims, it can instill fear and risk losing the concept of crime victims. The prominent victim ideologies were the ideology of care and retribution. There is consensus for a strengthened victim perspective, yet it appears to rather focus on the perpetrator and not the victim.
